  • Is any history really true?...Harry Truman once said if you want to know of a point in history you need to read several books on the subject to half way get the truth...maybe Mr. Lee needs to read a few more books...or maybe he just knows it all already?...

  • @blacktreemedia Is Spike Lee really a bigot?

  • i came here accidently

and i dont like people who refuse to see true

  • The KKK was formed by DEMOCRATS.

  • Fucking racist nigger. If this was 100 years ago, he'd have been put out of his misery. Funny how they have to have a black guy interview him too.

  • @20carrocks I think racism is kinda like a retardation. In this day, I feel bad for people who think like you.

  • @blacktreemedia u are wearing a blindfold.

  • @20carrocks niggers earned the right to be racist; if it weren't for racists like yourself, 100 years ago, terrorizing blacks, you wouldn't have to worry about racism from everyone else

  • @ukendcx2000 Keep perpetuating shit....that's all you nig nogs do. Learn to keep it down.

  • @20carrocks nice way to troll a thread; lmao!

  • @20carrocks its interesting you call him racist and make a racist comment all at the same time..well done.(thumbs up)

  • @isralite98 Well, he is one.

  • @20carrocks and so are you with comments like that. Therefore you contradict yourself.

  • Shame he seems a nice chap but he can't direct traffic let alone a film .

  • A dick, his movies suck.

  • @tjones590

    fuck you moron !

  • @LENOVOPRODUCER No thanks, I'm fine.

  • Comment removed

  • His act is old, tired, and wrong. 99% of people don't have a problem with different races, Spike Lee makes his money off of that 1%. Clint Eastwood is miles and miles ahead of Spike in terms of talent, success, professionalism, and character.

  • How much intense hate is in this guy's heart. Never in your lifetime, will you hear about Spike Lee judging a man "by the content of his character." Or seeing someone by their individual merits. It's all about black and white. If you're a white person, get out of his sight.

  • Talentless director and dirty racist

  • @twelvestreets

go to hell then ! bastard

  • @LENOVOPRODUCER What's your problem, idiot?

  • In over 20 years the only good Spike Lee films I can think of are Inside Man, 25th Hour and Do The Right Thing. All the others we're average AT BEST.

Politics aside, Miracle at st. anna freaking sucked..

  • @Ninety9Soulz Being & hater and ignorant seems to go together here. = She's Gotta Have It = School Daze = Jungle Fever = Malcolm X (one the best of the 90's, AFI agrees) = He Got Game = Jim Brown: All American = 4 Little Girls = When The Levees Broke = Bamboolzed! = Mo Betta Blues ...I only named half. Go back licking Tarantino's nuts like the rest of the Spike haters,90NoSoul...
  • @Pirate7X All of those movies are shit.

  • @Ninety9Soulz Really? What about Malcolm X, Clockers, Summer of Sam and Jungle Fever.

  • has spike lee ever made a good movie?

  • @scatcoitusmoosic

malcolm x, do the right thing, bamboozled, crooklyn.

those are only ones i've seen

  • Isn't Clint Eastwood good friends with Morgan Freeman ? Isn't Morgan freeman black ?

This guy is the most ironic idiot I've ever seen, really people have move forward over racism ? Then does he have to bring up racism in every interview he does ?

  • spike lee is just a troll

  • what was the last blockbuster spike directed?

  • Fuck Spike Lee

  • Hehe not a bright idea to be criticizing Clint Eastwood Spike. :) Love your movies but I hate your Bi-Polar personality. :)

  • listen, i respect blacks who served in the military and im not taking anything away from that, but the fact remains that the overwhelming majority of men who fought and died for this country in WWII were white. That is the reason hollywood focuses on them. I think spike and others tend to view everything threw a lens of 'whites conspiring against blacks' which is extremely counter productive and naive.

  • Spike looks high to me... He's still one hell of a director!!! MOOKIE!!!

  • Spike lee makes mediocre college films

  • that shit was hella sad. when dude stabbed that little girl with the bayonet.

    not cool at all

  • that shit was hella sad. when dude stabbed that little girl with the bayonet

  • AMERICAN JUST SHUT HE HELL UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! too hung upof race, scum of the earth america, scum! self hating instigators.the war the war! wat war? do u not know the wars are set up by the elite to ruin this world and fatten their pockets? who cares who fought wat? u shud be asking for answers from ur leaders who continue to lie to u and the rest of the world . they short chnaging u, brain washin ur kids and u celebrate on the st bcos osama is dead. omg bunch of sheep. spkie shutup

  • @hyper10shun "they short chnaging u, brain washin ur kids and u celebrate on the st bcos osama is dead. omg bunch of sheep." Nice grammar, who were you calling sheep again? By the way, I celebrated Osama's death heartily, that was one fun night.

  • @ThisIsVeryFakeAndGay never mind my terrible grammar darling. You will have to excuse me i am not related to the Queen and i don't have the blood of rapist/Americans in my body, so excuse by bad bad grammar, but sweetie i am sure you understood my point aside from the bad grammar hence your flimy rebruttal. yes i said it ''you are all sheep, ....sheep sheep sheeeeeeeeep now go slit your wrist and die cause you are a waste of matter on this earth.

  • @hyper10shun Not only do they teach organizing your thoughts into arguments in most forms of education, but they also teach research techniques such as finding information, evaluating sources, etc. Go research your evidence and try to make a credible argument.

  • @ThisIsVeryFakeAndGay lol i think you need to take ur own advice , i refuse to go into one with you as u are clearly an ignoramous!

  • It's sad that Spike Lee actually took the time to go through each frame of the movie to find Black people. This is over the top. If Martin Luther King were alive, I'm sure he'd smack Spike Lee in the face for being such a little bitch and not understanding the point of equality.

  • We were too nice to keep the black servicemen away from too much pressure in the heat of battle. And if I may add, the kid in the movie was great, but the movie Miracle at St. Anna did need a little more work on pretty much everything. But don't give up man. Plenty of success to go around for every filmmaker. ;)

  • Here's the thing. Spike said that when Clint Eastwood directed the movie Flags of Our Fathers, he didn't have a single black marine or sailor in the movie. And I was like, "Whoa! Hold on there man. Watch the movie again." There were a few black men in the briefing scene when they were on the ship. And during the landing under fire, the black sailors were helping the wounded off the island. Now, I'm not trying to offend Spike for all this, but I think that in Flags of Our Fathes....

  • All of you are so stupid. Spike and Clint are talented directors.

  • No "stonewalljackson26" YOU ARE FULL OF SHIT, you're just a typical dumb white boy that shoots off his mouth of things(american history)that you know nothing about.

  • Statistically the blacks who choose to join the military usually go Army rather than Marines. I am not sure why this is. The movie is honest. There just wasn't many blacks serving in the USMC in the 1940's. That is fact, not racism. Would you rather have Clint lie and make the Marine units on Iwo just as diverse as the Army units in Vietnam?? Troop desegregation started in Korea, but really didn't become prominent until Vietnam.

  • All they were concerned about was their buddies and the Japanese who were trying to kill them. Social issues, and domestic racial tensions mean nothing in a situation like that. If America hated anyone during that time it wasn't the blacks, but the Japanese. The hatred for the Japanese after Pearl Harbor was more virulent than any hatred for the Negro in this country. The country wanted to kill Japanese badly.

  • For the men that were killed on that island. Whether they had their heads caved in by flying lead, or they took a bullet or shrapnel to the chest cavity that killed them instantly or caused them to bleed out. Or the men who had their arms or their legs blown off by flying shrapnel. Or the men who watched their buddies screaming in agony while they are holding their intestines. What was going on between whites and blacks meant nothing.

  • But Spike has a right to say them. I just think he is full of shit.

  • @StonewallJackson26 I agree, "Spike has a right to say them." and he also has a right to make a movie about them, and his comments on the inclusion of Blacks in pictures that portray them as less then heroes. I also agree that this war was not about the blacks and whites, but u yourself said that it was an issue on them not being included in some units. There are also time when because of racism, black units were thrown in the most vulnerable positions in wars, so the issue should be disucssed

  • @blacktreemedia Yes there deserves to be Miracle at St.Anna, to tell that specific story, I agree....but the fact that Spike Lee attacked Clint Eastwood for something that was irrelevant to equality and racism, just shows how whiney he has the potential to be. I think atleast half the reason Miracle at St.Anna was made is to make a response statement to Clint, which is pretty ridiculous...

  • @blacktreemedia you never heard of d-day? or the other thousands of scenarios where white soldiers have been sent into vunerable positions? Is there ever an issue what needs to be discussed about why white soldiers were sent into vunerable positions? NO. It was not just blacks so shut up

  • @StonewallJackson26 NO, YOU'RE FULL OF SHIT! You have no right to criticize Spike Lee so shut the fuck up!

  • @kalimaganeshshivan I have the right to say whatever I want. Ever heard of the 1st Amendment?

  • @StonewallJackson26 It doesn't apply to the likes of you!

  • @kalimaganeshshivan Spike Lee is an idiot, a racist and made a fool out of himself for give Clint Eastwood shit. Fuck him and all his bullshit

  • @Volf99 Pot calling the kettle black, so to speak! LOL

  • @kalimaganeshshivan I don't hate Spike Lee because he is African American, I hate him for his personality.

  • @Volf99 Spike Lee's to "uppity" for you, am I right? I bet dollars to donuts you wouldn't say the same shit about Martin Scorcese! So shut the fuck up with that hypocrisy!

  • @kalimaganeshshivan ........I don't know what you mean by "uppity" so..... no, your wrong... I guess? I have heard Martin Scorcese's name before but I had to look him up after you mentioned his name because I'm not a film guru. From what wiki has to say about him, Martin just seems like some one track director that only knows how to make movies about the Mob, Italians, and Robert De Niro. I could be way off, but like I said, I had to look the guy up to know who you were referring to.

  • We have no problem calling the NFL a "Black" league, even though almost 40% of its players are non-black. There is still a Black majority.

The US military, the Marines in particular are a predominately white. Whites make up 80% of the US military today and almost 95% of it in the 1940s. So why wouldn't there be mostly whites in all the US war movies made in the last 50 years?

Whites hear black say all day long how they dominate the NBA and NFL.

Well whites make up most of our soldiers.

  • @StonewallJackson26 Actually that is pretty ignorant. Anybody in the military will attest to the great number of latinos, blacks, and other nationalities that lay down their lives like everybody else. There is no 'race' that dominates the military, and to compare service for our country to sport is just DUMB. So lets really get to the problem, look at most of the basketball movies: Hoosiers, Basktball Diaries, Glory Road, all featured white people. Look at football: Friday night lights....

  • @StonewallJackson26 ....remember the titans, Rudy, Any Given Sunday, We Are Marshall, all featured white actors. So to represent the military as homogeneous is just ignorant. Anybody that lays their lives on the line for this country deserves to be honored and represented in television, books and films. That out of all places should represent us. Clint Eastwood is a great director, but this is bigger than Clint. This is about painting villains one color and heroes another. Quote your sources.

  • @blacktreemedia News flash: very few blacks actually fought on Iwo. That is just a fact. Because of backwards thinking, blacks were not valued as combatants and were thought of as inferior soldiers. Not saying it's right, it's just how it was. Not including blacks in combat on Iwo is really not that mush of an omission, considering there were a little less then 1000 blacks out 110,000 Americans in or around Iwo, and most because of prejudice, did not actually fight. That is history.

  • @StonewallJackson26 But isn't it backwards thinking that would make you attack Spike for wanting to see that. Has no blacks laid their lives down for this country? So why should most war movies represent us as less than such? Why should backwards thinking still carry over? He expressed a desire to see something different, and you attack him for it? That my friend is some backwards thinking StoneWall....

  • @blacktreemedia I think it is Spike who is attacking Clint and his work. Iwo Jima, no matter how much you want it to be was not a Black issue. Prejudice against Black's takes a backseat when it comes to an event like Iwo Jima. This was the worst war in the history of the world that brought forth hatred and animosity. No mercy was given or received on our part and when you have a campaign like Iwo Jima where Whites and Japanese are slaughtering each other. I don't want to hear Spike's comments.

  • Why would Clint focus on logistics and contractors when 26,000 people died on that small island and 23,000 more were maimed. I can't stand it when Spike turns WWll into a white against black endeavor. Whites and Japanese were slaughtering each other wholesale in the sands, slopes and highlands of Iwo Jima, but somehow Spike has to make it about the poor, neglected black man. BOO HOO! Goddamn pit party. What a disrespect to the men who bled out and died in that Pacific hell hole.

  • Less than 1% of all the men in or around Iwo were black. And very few blacks actually fought on Iwo, because public opinion of the black soldier was low. They were thought to be lazy and undisciplined. Not saying that this is necessarily true..... just saying that's how it was. Out of 110,000 US servicemen, only 60,000 were combat effective Marines. The rest were orderlies, cooks, logistics, contractors, artillery ETC. Most blacks served in logistics and as contractors.

  • You don't judge good or bad by race, gender, sexual orientation, religion. There can be good and bad examples within each of those categories. The Buffalo Soldiers fought the Nazis during WWII, but they also helped the U.S. government fight their war of genocide against the American Indians. So how do we judge our histories? Learn from both the humane and the inhumane because we are all capable of both.

  • when spike lee puts on the uniform and gets shot at he can complain until then shut the fuck up already.

  • I'm a 60 year old italian guy and I love Spike Lee and most of his movies. IF Clint Eastwood pissed him off enough to make a war movie, Im glad because 'Miracle at Santa Ana' is one great movie!

  • @roccop2 this movie had some of the worst writing i've ever layed eyes on, if you want to see a real movie about black heroism during ww2 watch tuskegee airmen. blows this crap out of the water. and James McBride

    sucks balls as a writer.

  • 260,000+ whites died to free slaves, but we are ALL White Devils

Spike looks out for his own & that is noble. BUT

Spike has soo much power to bring us together. But he would rather be a LiL Al Sharpton.

When you keep sittin' idle and playing the 'Race Card', other races pass you by as they push ahead to better themselves.

  • @StowAlex When did Spike lee say that "All Whites Were Devils", and why don't you also quote how many enslaved Africans died in the TransAtlantic Slave Trade. If you want to start quoting numbers, lets get the whole story buddy.

  • @blacktreemedia I'm Czech, Polish & little Cherokee Indian. The Nazis killed Czechs & destroyed Poland. Brits killed, raped & put Cherokees in reservations long before they bought slaves from African tribes. WHY dwell on that? When are Al, Jesse & Spike gonna stand on street corners & denounce gangs & drugs & REALLY help? Instead of CRYING racism? EVERY RACE has been wronged by someone. ITS 2011, OBAMA IS PRESIDENT, A BLACK MAN CAN MAKE IT ~ 500 NEW BLACK MILLIONAIRES EACH YEAR IN USA

  • @StowAlex It's not crying racism. Do you hear every year when Jewish make complaints about anti-sementism, or that there is a movie that involves the Holocaust, is there the same thing going on for African Americans. Do you see a movie that decries racism, or that shows the virulent hatred that was done to African Americans in this country from slavery and torture to rape and separation of families and keeping people from being able to receive a equal education? I don't.

  • @StowAlex I always see movies that discuss the wrongs done to the Jews, even this one. Yet you beat that same drum that blacks are always complaining about racism when it DOES in fact exist even today. So we must ignore it? The reason that Obama is President is because we did not ignore problems of race, and that allowed progress and discussion. The same way that this movie and other movies that would feature African Americans fighting for their country can spark this type of discussion.

  • @blacktreemedia That is complete bullshit. The only all black division to serve was the 92nd and they mainly fought in Northern Italy. However, on Iwo it would be hard to find a black in combat during that campaign. The US Marine Corps didn't segregate. So there was probably a sporadic black person in every other company. Clint's job was to not to make everyone feel included. His job was to create an accurate portrayal of the savagery of Iwo...... he did that.

  • @blacktreemedia Hey again, this will be my last reply so i don't hog your whole board up. RACISM DOES EXIST & it will. You make it sound as though only blacks deal with racism. I'm near Cleveland, Ohio. it is 52% Black. In certain areas, my ass will get jumped & shot. Is that not racism? You can't want EQUAL RIGHTS, but they get your own set of rules. AFFIRMATIVE ACTION is RACISM. White contarctors with kids lose contracts to blacks even if better qualified + whites are the minority in Cleveland

  • @blacktreemedia Name one mainstream hollywood movie in 2011 where tragedy's done to Jews was the main focus of the story. I'm not talking about movie's like the new X Men where its hinted at, but movies where its the main point.

  • @Volf99 Y discount the movies like X Men? Name one movie that has hinted at slavery, or even discussed racism in any type of detail. Name 5 Hollywood movies that have discussed slavery in our country?

  • @blacktreemedia You made the claim that time and time again the Holocaust is brought up and Jews are portrait as the victims. I asked you to give me one movie in this year where that was the central theme of the story. You made the claim so I asked you to back it up. I discounted X Men because while it was mentioned in the story, the main theme was Mutants vs Humans, not Jews are victims. Magneto hardly comes off as being a victim. As for your (continued)

  • @blacktreemedia (continued)I can't think of any movies, but I NEVER said that Black Slavery was a reoccurring theme in Hollywood movies, while YOU DID state that Jewish suffering was a reoccurring theme in Hollywood movies. So I ask you again, name ONE mainstream movie THIS YEAR that had the central theme be about Jewish suffering during the Holocaust or any other time. However, another question I have is why you even brought up Jewish people because they have nothing to do with the video at all

  • @Volf99 Well it is hard for you to jump in today and follow the string of conversation that has led me to discuss Jews. But for you to put a test on me for "this year" is just something that I would rather not try to accomplish. X-Men is an easy one, there are others I am sure. In the last couple of years that has been several, including Spike Lee's Inside Man and Miracle at St. Anna. Also including Scorcese's Shutter Island, also including the boy in the white striped pajamas, etc...

  • @blacktreemedia I just reread this comment about the movie Shutter Island having to be about Jews and the Holocaust. I saw that movie and I'm confused as to what part of that movie had anything to do with us? I don't even recall religion being mentioned in the movie for that matter. As for Miracle at St. Anna, is not about the Holocaust, its about Black American soldiers fighting in Italy. Including Miracle at St. Anna as a movie about what happened to the Jews is like including (continued.)

  • @Volf99 You can say it is just halfway about the holocaust, or it doesn't mention. The whole shutter island was created during the holocaust, and remember the lead character thought that the dr's were guilty of doing the same things that the crazy Nazi dr's were doing during the holocaust. This movie they are fighting the Nazi's, is that not dealing with the holocaust? I mean come on, u can discount it all you want. In Inside Man, the antagonist was hiding holocaust items in his safe

  • @blacktreemedia wait..... I don't know if you and I are thinking of the same movie. I'm thinking of the movie that stars Leonardo DiCaprio where he is trying to find a missing person on an island for the criminally insane and the big twist at the end is he (Lenonardo) is actually a patient on the island. Is that the movie your thinking about? Because if there was any mention of Nazi's I don't think it was about the suffering of the Jews. Just look at the movies summary on sites like IMDB(dot)com

  • @Volf99 Nobody ever said "you don't understand what it is like", you injecting that into this coversation makes it seem as if you want to be a victim in this argument. nobody ever said that, nor was I being anti-semetic in stating fact, as a film journalist, we cover films, I know that the theme whether partial or central in several films reflects the holocaust and the theme that reflects African suffering or African Americans is largely absent in any films produced by hollywood.

  • @blacktreemedia I won't deny that Hollywood doesn't produce movies about African slavery, but Miracle at St. Anna is not about the Holocaust. As for the representation of African Americans, Asian Americans Middle Eastern and Hispanic Americans are also largely absent. However they don't bring up Jews and the Holocaust when I talk to them about Hollywood.

I'm playing the victim & I don't feel victimized, just tired of being told to respect the suffering of others when they refuse to respect me.

  • @Volf99 Is it disrespect to say, give us some play also? If your stories are so important that they have to be a 'partial' theme at least 5 times a year, can we just get 5 movies ever? Can we just get 1 movie every other year that discusses the horrors that our people were put through? I think this conversation is relevant to what Spike is saying in the interview, "EVERYbody wants to see themselves reflected on the screen." Black, Jewish, Spanish, Asian, Gay, Straight, Muslim, etc..

  • @blacktreemedia I think you need to watch the movie again my friend, before Leonardo was a U.S. Marshall, he was a decorated hero in WW 2, who helped liberate a nazi concentration camp, and those dreams were part of his hallucinations on the island. Watch it again. In Miracle at St. Anna, they were spewing Nazi propaganda, and guess who those soldiers were at war with, the Nazi's. I am sorry if I equate fighting Nazi's with the Holocaust, but it seems to be related to me.

  • @blacktreemedia (continued) Its like including Saving Private Ryan because there happens to be one very small scene where Adam Goldberg cries about the hitler youth knife and the scene where he shows his star of david.

  • @Volf99 In Shutter Island, Leonardo DiCaprio (Teddy) "develops increasingly severe migraine headaches. He has more strange dreams, followed by waking hallucinations related to World War II and the Dachau concentration camp, which he helped to liberate." I mean, did you watch the movie that you are arguing had 'nothing to do with 'jews'? Now I am confused.

  • @Volf99 Now the fact that you would rather not see them now after countless stories have discussed the holocaust from stuff like Valkyrie, Schindler's List, Fugitive Pieces, etc....is kinda irrelevant. You have been represented. Jews have control of the industry and have understood the value in telling their story, their have been many impediments in the way of telling our stories, and I think Spike speaks to that in this interview and in his comments.

  • @Volf99 The Debt

  • @blacktreemedia IMDB describes the movie as revolving around the morality of the MOSSAD tracking down a former Nazi, in 1966. It is not some World War 2 themed movie that focuses on the Holocaust, its a movie about a COUNTRY tracking down a former war criminal, not about some Holocaust survivors tracking down a war criminal, which is a big difference.

It took you long enough to answer back and there reason why is probably because you were bullshitting me LAST MONTH about Jews always making...

  • @Volf99 No, I can name 2 more that are coming out soon, if this has turned into the point of the argument. Again, to answer your question, when responding to someone that argued that Spike was always complaining about slavery. I pointed out that Spike Lee has made two movies that have dealt with the Holocaust (Miracle at St. Anna, and The Inside Man), and Zero (0) movies about slavery. Then you came in with your question as to why did I bring up the holocaust. (continued)...

  • @Volf99 (continued 2) I pointed out that Hollywood, which was mostly started by Jews (i.e, Warner Bros) & others as a way to promote their images regularly has movies about the holocaust. Why, I would guess because they feel like their story is important, WHICH IS THE SAME THING SPIKE IS SAYING IN THIS INTERVIEW. So my point wasn't to be anti-jewish as your latest remarks have been anti-gentile and anti-black. Slavery movies: Roots, Amistad Holocaust Movies (countless). CASE CLOSED

  • @blacktreemedia For me to be anti-gentile would be against all non Jews, and I take no issue with Buddhist, Hindu's, Sikhs, Zoroastrians, Taoist, practitioners of Shintoism, Druids, and people of the various Native American and Native African religions. I only take issue with Christians & Muslims who claim that Jews don't know what its like to be persecuted/the minority. For you to say that its "anti-gentile"of me to bring up the past, is like saying its anti-white to bring up African slavery.

  • @Volf99 Oh excuse me, you are so pure, you don't hate all religions, you just hate Christians and Muslims, and specifically 'black africans', great, i am sorry that I had you confused for a dumb racist bigot.

  • @blacktreemedia I don't hate Christians and Muslims, I just feel that it is ignorant and insulting for people who are Christian & Muslim to claim that I "don't understand what its like", which is bullshit, just look at history. However, don't get me wrong, I fully acknowledge that Christians & Muslims HAVE SUFFERED and at times it HAS BEEN BECAUSE OF JEWS! I fully acknowledge that & don't deny it, I only ask that the history of Jews be treated with the same respect.

  • @blacktreemedia Being Christian or Muslim doesn't inheritablly make you a bad person, nor do I hate all Christians and Muslims. I just have little tolerance for those who practice said faiths and tell me I "don't understand".

As for my feelings towards Black America, I have no hate for them, or you despite what you may think. If anything I feel more safe in America BECAUSE of people like MLK Jr. If it wasn't for him, I would never tell anyone I'm Jewish out of fear from how they would react!!

  • @blacktreemedia .....(continued) movies about the Holocaust. Also I asked for the CENTRAL theme to be about the Holocaust, and the movie you pointed out has to do PRIMARILY with the actions of ISRAEL, which was not even a country during World War two!

Also you still avoided answering my question about why you felt it was necessary to bring up the subject of Jews when you were conversing with someone who is Polish/Czech/Cherokee and you (I'm assuming) are African. It was not necessary.

  • @blacktreemedia (continued part 2) However, if you feel the need to bring us Jews into the conversation about people who were wronged in the past, I'll stoop down to your level and bring up the issue of the fact that the majority of Black-Africans (as apposed to Arab-Africans) are of the CHRISTIAN and MUSLIM faith. You only need to look back in history to see how my people have been terrorized by those groups and how their faith is a bastardization of the beliefs of the Jewish people!!!

  • @Volf99 Sarah's Key if you need another, is that central enough. I mean come on, I am just being factual, while you have some ax to grind and want to spread your religious and racial hate among others. Calling anyone's religion a bastardization is evidence of a bigot, a racist, a religious fanatic, etc... Specifying that "Black-Africans" have oppressed your people, as if your people haven't oppressed anybody is ignorant. instead of arguing with the ignorant i will just point out fact.

  • Respond to this video... and the point is not that there should be less movies of stuff like the holocaust, but only that there should be more stories that our also inclusive of other cultures that make up America when discussing America Cinema, and even in an a more worldly sense in general because there is so much power in images. There is also power and deception and corruption in 'lack' of images.

  • @blacktreemedia Well I wouldn't mind if there was less focus on the Holocaust, I just don't think Jews are relevant to the video. As for representation in media, I agree and disagree with you. I understand that people want people like them to portrait in the media, but speaking as someone who has a Jewish mother and German father I would say that I think that no image can be better than any image. I rather not see another movie about how Germans are bad and Jews are victims, but that's me.

  • @blacktreemedia I bring up my ethnicity because at times I feel that I rather not have Germans and Jews represented at all instead of always being portrait in a negative light. This relates to what we are discussing because I think that it can be better for there to be a lack of an image if the only other option is to have a bad image. I mean no Black veteran in a movie is better than having a Black character that is either some how "evil" or a complete caricature of Black Americans, right?

  • Spike is a loser who loves to play the race card.

  • I think Lee's a classy guy. He's clearly not trying to inflame Clint Eastwood, but because he's a black guy with something to say, people think he's inflammatory. I will say, I'm pretty sure there was already a film on Tuskegee, i saw it in middle school

  • Personally i believe spike lee just fuels the fires of rascism, he keeps it an issue, he was angry that clint eastwood did not have any black actors in his two films flags or our fathers, or letters from iwo jima. He was incorrect in attacking Clint Eastwood. There were black actors in the background of the film during some of the scenes. Eastwood was being historically accurate. at the time black marines were restricted to auxiliary roles. Miracle at St. anna was a shitty movie.

  • @anklepickcrick That's the point - Black soldiers have played LEADING FRONT LINE ROLES (pun intended) in every single war the U.S. has waged. This, "well black people were in the background" sentiment is untrue. Have you heard of DORIE MILLER? Look his name up. Have you heard of the TUSKEGEE AIRMEN, BUFFALO SOLDIERS? Did you know that one of the British generals in the Revolutionary War said that Gen. Washington had so many black soldiers, that he thought he was in Ethiopia? Look it up.

  • Ppl hate the truth about bulk ppl.....big ups!!!! To spike

  • million dollar baby had me on a downer for about 3 weeks clint eastwood understands the power of visual empathy.

  • Comment removed

  • Spike is a black nobody.

  • Il Grandissimo Spike...

  • continued...

With all the untapped resources and the strategic global location between the US and China, Africa WILL matter in the next 25 years and the people there will benefit greatly from it. You can bet on it.

  • Straight Jive ! Why doesn't this fool just make his little movies and shut the fuck up !!!

  • @blacktreemedia why should clint eastwood have to portray you like that? Your irrelevant to his story, thus proving that blacks just want to complain about something.

  • Average Black IQ ?

  • @Vot63 85

  • @blacktreemedia I have no quarrel with that and I defend Spike Lee's right to make his style of movies the way that he wants to make them. For those interested and or entertained more power to you. What I do take exception with his criticism of Tyler Perry and his chosen brand of expression. It is plain to see that people in general find his art appealing, funny and to have a positive message and that is evident in the ticket sales. I take nothing from Spike Lee but I feel TP has reached all

  • @blacktreemedia What's the beat in beginning of the intro?

  • From Kanye West's song Half Price.

  • the beat the the beginning is from kanye west's song Half Price

  • Whats the difference between Clint Eastwoods movie that is portraying something that isnt completely accurate and all of the heavily black inspired movies portraying ALL whites as pasty bookworm nerds that cant dance?

  • @Nocturnalseve I can't speak to all "heavily black inspired movies" nor do I know what that really means. But I will say that Spike Lee's movies has not had any white characters that were pasty bookworm nerds. In 25th Hour, a Ed Norton played a Irish American white guy who was headed to Prison for selling narcotics, and what he did in his last day. The Inside Job has Clive Owens as a slick criminal who breaks into a bank and steals a World War II document that would indite a man for his past.

  • @blacktreemedia nocturnalize watch spike lees movie bamboozled its a drama

  • @blacktreemedia both writen by white guys and i want my fucking money back for miracle at st anna

    ps...

spike lee is a horrible writer/directer he isnt shit

  • @blacktreemedia spike lee made a poor attempt at copying saving private ryan style world war two movie. Inside man and 25th hour were his best films written by white people. Spike lee sucks. Clint eastwood made fuckin Unforgiven. Unforgiven bitches.

  • @PANZYUTUBEIS No, he's not copying "Saving Private Ryan". Spike adapted a BOOK about a REAL-LIFE EXPERIENCE of BLACK SOLDIERS in WWII to make, "Miracle At St. Anna". Did you watch this interview in its ENTIRETY or have you watched OTHER interviews Spike has done on this? Have you heard of Dorie Miller, The Tuskegee Airmen, The Buffalo Soldiers? It's called HISTORY, and in this case, LEFT-OUT HISTORY. Read a book.

  • @blacktreemedia Because there weren't any black combat soldiers on Iwo Jima. The army was still segregated at this time. Which is what the movie was about, the soldiers who raised the American flag. That is the fundamental problem with his argument. Pointing the finger at Clint Eastwood is not only misleading, but unfair. It's not an oversight on Eastwood's part, that's all.

I have no problem with Spike Lee other than the fact he occasionally sees racism where there is none.

  • Pathetic loser!

  • I AGREE WITH SPIKE, THAT THE A REAL IMAGE OF A PERSON WHO IS A MINORITY ARE MISSING OUT OR ARE MISREPRESENTED IN THE MEDIA. I LIKE SPIKE LEE, HIS FILMS ARE KIND OF OPPRESSING OR DEPRESSING. BUT THAT CAN BE REALITY. LEE'S FILMS SHOW HOW HE VIEWS THIS COUNTRY AND MAYBE THIS WORLD.

  • @2315MARCO Everytime Shelton opens his mouth you know how he veiws the world thru agnst colored glasses with Racisim. The majority of the world is ATTEMPTING to move forward however Shelton relives a regurgitated, self inflicted victim mantallity every day and perpetuates onto anyone who is willing to listen and buy what he is selling. The final straw is calling out blacks in the republican party just because the have a different opinion or support a non black President due to their beliefs??

  • @cognativoverlord The rest of the world moves on thru actions, through progress, not by ignoring practices that still leave some behind and that are inherently unequal. Spike Lee is an American filmmaker, with a right to his own opinions, and its an honor that he is willing to share them uncensored. Nothing that he says in this interview is racist, or of a victim mentality. Similarly, Spike Lee has not made 1 movie on slavery, but has made 2 movies that have dealt with the holocaust. WAKE UP

  • @blacktreemedia Spike's been around for a while now. Why doesn't he just make movies? If the story he's telling involves white people then he needs to incorporate them in his movies. He'll never be considered a great director until he gets the big picture. Just make movies, not just make movies for black audiences.

  • @upinflamezzz SPIKE THAT DOESN'T WANT TO SALE IT. SIMPLE AS THAT AND HE BUDGETS HIS OWN FILMS FROM HIS OWN POCKET.

  • @2315MARCO His net worth is $40 million and Miracle at St. Anna cost $45 Million US to shoot. He owns 40 Acres and a Mule film Productions yet his movies are leveraged and finannced. Shelton Lee wants and NEEDS to SALE tickets to pay back his shareholders.

  • @upinflamezzz 25TH Hour, The Inside Job. Those are not 'Black Movies'. Nor is 'If God is Willing and the Creek don't rise...", it is just a documentary. They are not for 'black audiences', why don't you stop categorizing them as such. Even if you listen to the wisdom in this interview where he says "we all want to see ourselves represented on screen" What is wrong with that? Why don't you ask Scorcese why does he make movies for 'white audiences'?

  • cokecake ur a real dumbass!!! i mean that wit love. either ur a child or ur just really a dumbass. sorry.

  • CLINT EASTWOOD IS NOT!!! RACIST!!

He made 2 movies on Iwo Jima. Letters from Iwo Jima was better in my opinion(and it was from the Japanese point of View).

Clint Eastwood also made Million Dollar Baby WITH MORGAN FREEMAN!! Who won an Oscar for that movie. So what the hell.

oh and Clint Eastwoods wife is Half Black & Half Japanese.

So Spikes critizing him is just ignorant and wrong.

  • spike lee seems racist against the non-blacks, this supremacist black power racist have been trying to deny white pride is thus a hipocrit.

there werent much blacks in iwo jima in reality and LYING to show that is racist black supremacism

    h ttp://ww w.youtube.co m/watch?v=qvo7eVI_eIc

white slavery by black people should never be discussed, and his racism against other non blacks that "suposedly" arent in his movies or others who he criticises, shows the hipcrit black racism

  • @09tranm I just love the way people get involved in the media-powered hate circle. Spike Lee DID NOT say Clint Eastwood is racist. If you watch this video instead of bitchin' you will see he is actually returning honors to Clint Eastwood and pointing out hollywood industry is ommiting "blacks in the army" topic on purpose. Iwo Jima was just an example.

Be smarter that media rubbish. It's better for you.

  • @09tranm people need to leave Clint ALONE!,Spike has a point ,i just think he will do what ever it takes to prove to black people that they had some doing in the making of this country. I just think he would be cool about. He could say " hey Clint, where were the black people in your movie" then say ok Clint,I'm making a ww2 movie to,how about helping me,that way I can show you what i missed in your movie and you can help me get it right, together"

  • there were 900 marine combat black people in the battle of Iwo Jima. they were in a separate unit.

  • The problem is... Is that Spike Lee is wrong. There were no black combat units on Iwo Jima. The American army was segregated until the Korean war. Have blacks been written out of World War II history by Hollywood? Sure, I can accept that, but targeting Eastwood for this particular movie is just stupid.

    So. Yeah.

I guess we can all move on with life, now, right?

    Oh wait...

  • Lee is such a retard. He doesn't understand that most of the shots for both movies... COMBAT SHOTS almost everytime Blacks where not aloud to fight. On Iwo some did because it was so desperate, but peopel don;t understand how rare that was. Like finding a 20 dollar bill on the street.

  • 1. this racist little piece of shit is not even qualified to shine Clint's shoes.

2.how's that obamanonics working out for you racist mutherfuckers?

    3. do you like that 20% unemployment dumbfucks

    4. do you like an economy that is being more over regulated by the day?

    5. do you like slavery, which is what obama's cradle to grave socialism is offering

    6. probably you do and you should be fucking ashamed of yourselves you whiny god damn bitches...

  • @whothehellgivesadamn Because the republicans where soooo good right? Because they had all the answers and everything was fine. Fuck off you jackass. Deregulation is what got us here in the first place. If the banks were regulated by Bush, instead of Deregulating them, then they never would of fucked up in the first place. But don't go by me, just listen to your ever so valid Fox news and Rush Limbaugh, you pompous jackass.

  • @skittlesareyum48 wow are you ever a lame ass ghetto sack of shit, you don't quite have that right chief.

    1. the dems advocated the super stupid mortgages for poor people like you who couldnt afford them which brought about the global economic melt down fuckwad

    2. im a libertarian you dumb sack of shit, im not for bailouts of any company if they fail the deserve to fail, you're a failure maybe you can relate to that

    3. we don't need more inefficient cradle to grave socialism you asswipe

  • @whothehellgivesadamn We meet again.

1-Lee isn't racist, he just has some very strong opinions about how black people should be portrayed in the media. And yes, Clint Eastwood is a better director, we all know that.

    2-pfft

3-Unemployment was last shown to be at 9.8%

4-As long as it's regulated by people more intelligent than you I don't mind.

5-Slavery does not exist in the concept of socialism, and even if it was Obama is not a socialist so it's irrelevant.

    6-You're a bitchy right-wing paranoid

  • @blacktreemedia Cokecake is right. Lee treats black people differently than white people. He is a smart guy who plays the racist card to sell his movie.

  • What Spike is saying in this piece is contradicting to what he said about Tyler on another interview. We do want to see our people working in Hollywood. We need to show that we have clout too. We no longer have to sepend on whites for our come-ups. This movie he did was his best work ever. We need to represented in ever aspect of this country, how it was built, who built it and who fought for it. Brother Spike, you really need to examine yourself and compare what you said in each interview

  • this bitch is a ferrykan man waiting to become the next black spokesman the day your political asspirations come to fruition I'm leaving the country, you nasty black racist motherfucker your the reason that most whites even though they dont say it,cant stand your stinking worthless assess

  • not to mention, how many movies has spike directed with white protagonist or even a main character, so hypocritical. This is why white people don't respect black people, they whine about all there mishaps. get the fuck over it.

  • @thedtp123 ok one you are speking for all white people two if you look at any of spike lee's movies he always has more than one white person in his movie even though they are not the main characters. inside man had clive owens and jodie foster, spike lee is not a racist he is makes movies that give black actors jobs. i love eastwood to death, but spike makes movies that speak to my story. lol you talk about whining but it seems to me like you are whining.

  • I liked the spike lee movie "doo the white thing"

  • spike lee suck ass...

  • @blacktreemedia WOW, you are a fucking retard, first I thought it was my fault for not wording what I meant right, but you actually believe that black people should shake hands different to white? I think that is stupid and racist at the same time.

Also, well done, the AMERICAN president lives in a building that is called the white house, I thought I would point out AMERICAN as you clearly only think that USA is the only country the world.

Welcome to ignore you arrogant, stuck up prick:D
