  • I meant the song is great , but the vocalist should work more . Also , they really call me "Osi" in REAL LIFE . Yo' momma's so stupid.:))

  • @r4mmst3infurimm3r "the vocalist should work more." Kevin Moore has had plenty of jobs over the years and probably works more than most musicians. U mad bro?

  • it's a good thing that Moore left DT. this is awesome. DT turned into soap and reality show. I'm very disappointed in them. I'll go cry now, like a bitch.

  • Oh. Em. Gee. Oh. Ess. Eye.

  • This reminds me a little of smashing pumpkins/alice in chains, interesting.

  • OSI is one of my favorite bands of all time. This song kicks ass, and it's so great to see that 115,678 people have shared in their excellence. Can't wait for OSI4!

  • Good attempt at a troll.

  • @luchko im sure they want to know the world over what you think of them as we do. but save yourself the embarassement of putting down the Prog Metal Icons and keep your hate mail short or non existent to the public eye because i think i speak for the youtube community at large when i say "enough negative opinions" think what youve got to but thats as far as you shold go

  • by "socially acceptable" im assuming he meant "for the chicks"...

  • Kevin is a good vocalist, I just can't believe they chose him over Daniel Gildenlow.

  • As good as Amplifier

  • why did you guys always debating and comparing OSI/kevin Moore and DT????? They had a different style..obviously.

  • A much more mature sound than Dream Theater. OSI is very fine.

  • OSI is good, but they ain't better than Dream Theater. You fail.

  • What a mature response, arrogant fellow...

  • Aren't I, though?

  • you ASSHOLE go and learn a little of good music pice of gay bastard if you thin k dream theater sucks then your mother is a bitch

  • very good video, so trippy.

  • "Last man to the bottom, I consider myself... free... 1-800-... you're free." I don't even know why I find this so awesome.

  • Sounds kind of like a combination of dream theater and tool.

  • Comment removed

  • AMEN TO THAT

  • Excelente!

  • Gavin harrison EASILY owns MIKE PORTNOY

  • Gavin and Mike are both Drum maestros and are different.

  • Then how come MP has gotten the award for Best Progressive Rock Drummer for 12 consecutive years? hmm?

  • @makikaki15 yeh but this song is worth all of Blood album.. this song defines progressive metal.. the best song in the world

  • @makikaki15

    OSI=great band!!!!

  • and you know what guys?

OSI's New album called Blood is going to be released on April 27...but there are already mp3 files on the internet. WTF?!!?

  • The new album is callaed BLOOD and it's Gavin Harrison on the drums... I better like him than Mike Portnoy! Both are great drummers...

  • but I prefer Mikey... his playing has more variation and power... just my opinion..

  • osi tree

  • After listening to OSI's Blood for a week I can say it is a very interesting album with some great tracks. Particularly "False Start" and "Stockholm" are very good. I would say that it is similar to Free but with are more aggressive guitar playing. I will buy it as soon as it becomes available in my country...

  • how did you get it?

  • Downloaded it from emule.

  • Im downloading OSI: BLOOD right now!!!!! HAHAHAHAHA

  • fuck you.

  • And, of course, the tracklist for Blood: (Release Dates: Europe 27.4.2009 / North America 2009.5.19) 01. The Escape Artist 02. Terminal 03. False Start 04. We Come Undone 05. Radiologue 06. Be The Hero 07. Microburst Alert 08. Stockholm 09. Blood I'm anxious...
  • News on OSI III: From Inside Out "In Blood, O.S.I. have succeeded in creating a fascinating album at the crossroads between rock and progressive metal. Music that alternates between atmospherically dense and aggressively demanding elements, while effortlessly transcending barriers between different styles and genres. Following its impressive predecessors, Office Of Strategic Influence (2003) and Free (2006), Blood is the third release by Kevin Moore and Jim Matheos."

  • anyone else heard rumors about gavin harrison playing on the next osi release? it was in a german metal mag...

  • New OSI is coming on April 27th featuring Jim, Kevin and Gavin as standard line up and Mikael Åkerfeldt (Opeth) on Stockholm (Vocals) and Tim Bowness (No-Man) vocals on Blood...it has 9 songs plus bonus disc containing 3 songs...Album title is "Blood"

  • it's true Steven Wilson will also be featured on it!

  • can't wait!

  • Same here I am excited for OSI's new cd and also Black Clouds And Silver Linings By Dream Theater both amazing bands coming up with new stuff!

  • Gosh...ever since I've started listening to O.S.I., I've been so into K. Moore's stuff, it's like all I listen to now!

  • I can understand you.

I think he was the only one in DT who still had, musically speaking, something to say to the world.

He's a real artist. I love all of his productions.

  • I know a lot of people dislike what he's doing since he left DT, but for me, there's not one thing I don't like..I think he's a genius with what he does with music, and I can say that about Jim, also.

  • Mmm, i think it might make an interesting comparison to see how good Blood is compared to DT's new album (forget the name).

  • I was thinking at the same thing.

You are right Sirius, it might be interesting,

and having seen (and listened) the route took by DT in their last 4 studio albums, between the 2 albums I would bet on Blood blindly.

  • omg guys omg. Ive loved the first OSI album for so long but I keep forgetting to buy the more recent one. If you havent heard it the first self titled album OSI is absolutely transcendent. the best prog ive ever heard. ANd personally i think it sounds better than this. and theres a new one?! fucking awesome!

  • awesome song...its amazing how this is such a rocker song yet kevin moore's anything-but-loud vocals is the thing that stands out...i especially like the way this song ends with his voice increasing gradually as the song comes to a stop...awesome stuff

  • there more electronic than rock this is only rock song ive heard from them

  • how downdload this song?

pliss i need 1 link thank

    Overdear? listen this band

  • Press release (from Jim):

    OSI

    New album in spring 2009

Guests: Gavin Harrison (Porcupine Tree) & Mikael Åkerfeldt (Opeth)

Along with Moore and Matheos, the new album will also feature Porcupine Tree drummer Gavin Harrison. In addition, there will be a guest appearance by Mikael Åkerfeldt (Opeth) on Stockholm, which the Swede co-composed. Mixing is scheduled to begin in early December with engineer Phil Magnotti.

  • are you serious??

  • Akerfeldt? That's awesome.

  • Sounds good, doesn't it?

  • Yeah - I would have gotten the new album anyway, but that's definitely the icing on the proverbial cake.

  • Some news from Kevin Moore:

"I've been working with Jim on our third OSI album for several months now, slowly but surely. Gavin Harrison (Porcupine Tree) is playing drums on this one - he's nearly done tracking and it sounds great. Along with guitar, Jim is handling bass this time. I still get to sing but may get some help (more later)."

  • LOL. I was about to post the same thing. I just saw Harrison with King Crimson and it will be awesome to hear him with OSI. I like Portnoy but I like Harrison a lot more. Hopefully he will really let loose and turn up the heat like he did with Crimson.

I was relieved to read this because Kevin Moore had completely dropped off the radar for a year and a half. Moore's vocals and song writing are both on my all time favorites list.

  • yeah that would be great do like a twenty year anniversary tour for like awake or images and words and kevin came back his playing was so good on those albums

  • Awesome song, great collaberation band. Need to album please!

  • I really enjoy Kevin Moore era DT...even the first album. Thinking about it, though...I enjoy all 90's DT including Falling Into Infinity.

What makes me a little disappointed though is Kevin's blatant refusal to have anything to do with DT at all. Yes, I'm sure he has his reasons, but it seems as though he's running away from something in his past that made everything he's doing now possible.

Sorry, I was just reading an OSI interview where Kevin was putting down DT and I had to vent.

  • oh, yeah, i totally wish kevin would come back for a reunion...

  • I know it's a late reply, but I totally agree with you. He's running away from stuff for sure. god knows what that is. In the early 90's it was success.

Any chance you could send me a link to said article/interview?

  • where is this interview, you'r talking about??

  • If I had to guess I would say he wants to be taken seriously as an artist instead of always the former DT keyboard player from when they were good.

In my mind he has definitely achieved this, and I see the first 2 DT albums as just more excellent Moore projects from one phase of his development(IMO DT havent done a single interesting thing that didnt involve him).

I really dont see why he would want to go back to that chapter?? To perform material he has moved away from??

  • in other words my Kevin Moore library includes Awake and IW and OSI and Chroma key and Perfect Symmetry( though prolly not shade of grey nor disconnected )

as a whole this body of work is amazingly creative, some might say ground breaking, I consider him a genuine innovator.

  • i agree that dream theater have gone downhill since kevin moore left, especially their last 2 albums. but have you heard anything off the album octavarium? listen to the title track here on youtube, it's incredible, especially the solo at the end. you cannot say that dream theater have done NOTHING of interest since moore left. it's just not true. i regard the album octavarium as just as good as images and words and awake if not better.

  • of course iv heard octacrapium--i continue foolishly to get all of their albums in some kind of desperate gut shot hope they have something to offer...The title track along with the rest of it was pure derivation...

Look they continue to produce these albums and some people are going to like some of them and thats fine but for us that hope for something the level of the first few albums ..its just not going to happen.

Check out OSI Blood check out the latest DT. Who has what to offer??

  • @0ngus I agree for sure. Some of my favorite DT material was done with Derek Shirinian and Jordan Rudess.

  • I LOVE OSI, It's fucking awesome! Kevin Moore's music is just stunning.

  • I like Moore best out of DT's keyboardists. I also really loved the kinda jazzy groove that Sherinian brought.

Rudess is a spectacular keyboardist but I don't rate him as high as the other two.

Oh and I agree with whoever said the lyrics in Systematic Chaos sucked. Ouch.

As for this song I don't really now of much OSI but I like it. Anyone recommend the best album to start with?

  • i agree with everything you said.

  • I don't, but to each his own. :)

  • i agree with everything except the part about the lyrics in SC. i didn't like In the Presence of Enemies, but besides that i thought the lyrics were pretty decent. but i also just started listening to OSI, so if anyone could help us out with an album recommendation that'd be great.

  • Well all music/ lyrics are subject to personal taste - it'd be pretty boring if they weren't. I just didn't like the gothic fiction slant many of the lyrics in SC took - offenders mainly being Ministry, Presence and Forsaken. Prophets of War was clever but fell into the standard Muse, conspiracy, catergory to me, nothing really new. I much prefer Under A Glass Moon/ Learning To Live style poetics myself.

But whatever, as chocojoelikesrush says: "to each his own". ;)

  • i actually do agree with you there, images and words did have much better lyrics than SC, i just wouldn't say that SC's lyrics "suck."

  • woah, a progressive metal discussion about the lyrics :) thats really varying from the normal "nah Petrucci can play the fastest!!1!11" discussion :) I must admit, i didn't like the SC lyrics as much as older stuff as well. they sometimes reminded me of "Fairy-Tale-Metal" xD

nonetheless the album was great and that DT likes Muse is proven ;) i still prefer Stockholm Syndrome over Never Enough thogh xD

  • Well you can say that the older stuff had great lyrics which they did, IMAW and AWAKE had some great lyrics , but i have to say i also love the lyrics to SC a lot, i think they are very good!In the presence of enimies was very well written (both parts) :)

  • there's only two, Free and OSI, the two are very good records, OSI is much more progressive than free and more rocker, Free is more ambient kind of thing and more electronic.

  • Wasaby7 have you ever heard Planet X - moonbabies, Universe or their new masterpeice Quantum? Or even Derek Sherinians solo albums like Black Utopia or Inertia or Mythology?

  • salamandersinthesun - i totally agree with you - what ever happened to the days of change of seasons, metropolis, under a glass moon, and even the train of thought album which was awsome..the only recent track I enjoy is Octovarium. Its too commercial now and i did expect better - systematic chaos is bloody awful - especially the lyrics above all. i suppose ill get thumbs down for my opinion.. care factor 0.

  • everyone has their personal opinion DT will always remain a great band and they always do something different...It's all about what comes at what time this time they wanted an total metal album so be it...And they did it at it's best...As they say when you put something out or bring something to the table there would be people who like it and those who don't you can't satisfy everyone..It's nature.

  • "Systematic Chaos is one SICK album"

In my opinion Systematic Chaos is an awful album. It would have been a great album if it was an album by an unknown pseudo metal band but I expected really more from Dream Theater. Don't get me wrong I can undertand that some people like it, but in my opinion this is album just... sucks.

  • couldnt agree more. as much as i enjoy alot of the music on D.Ts latest out of mere taste, it doesnt really strike me as even nearly comparing with the inovation and buety of their older stuff, especaly with Kevin

  • completly agree. its good guitar work...if it was amateur! the thing is, its not! this is JP were talking about. not some cheese-ball metal head! oh wait...

  • i have to agree with you..

i mean yesterday, i was watching a cover band playing a lot of DT songs (i'm in Jakarta, Indonesia, btw. a LOTS of DT fans even here! =) ),..and the only songs that reallyy really struck my chord-spines are ones from Images & Words, and Change of Seasons. oh wait! also add Scenes !! (they don't play any songs from Awake, though, it would've been so powerful also!).

but i've noticed they didn't play ANY song from Systematic..so i guess there must be a reason for that!

  • DT with Kevin = incredible feeling and amazing

DT with derek = diferent but amazing too

DT with Jordan = Extremely feeling virtuosistic and amazing too

    DT és la puta canya!

  • I say Labrie is damn good

  • Are you f**king KIDDING me?!?!?!? You go out there and sing the stuff Labrie has to sing, then tell me he sucks.

  • I agree with mebackpack, Labrie sucks!

  • i agree his voice is irritating on certain songs, but on others it's amazing. octavarium and change of seasons for example.

his voice isn't to everyone's taste but i think he's awesome. he also sings better on his solo album and he wrote the lyrics, he's a good lyricist

  • It was either him or Matheos, and they decided Kevin's voice was better for the music and more socially 'acceptable' was the word i think he used. I don't remember

  • Dream Theater with Kevin is amazing, without him not so much...

That said I love everything Kevin has ever done, OSI included :)

  • "without him not so much...???" whoa man, Systematic Chaos is one SICK album, you are crazy o.O

  • It's not a matter of being sick, I believe Kevin Moore put the dream theater element in dream theater, without him, the band lost the namesake.

  • scenes > kevin

  • I could not agree more. The facts speak for themselves I&W and Awake beautiful imaginative and innovative.

Kevin was with DT when they wrote change of the seasons.Awake>SFAM

Many of you Jordan zealots are missing the point. Was Dizzy Gillespie a better musician than Miles Davis?? I dont think so, even though Dizzy would play much faster and more technically , Miles would just hit that one note, that one perfect brilliant note, at the perfect time. I prefer Miles, and I much prefer Kevin Moore.

  • ok jajjjaaja so DT is NOT a skill contest band. dont get mad at me. for example listen to Opeth's ghost reveries so you learn how a complex song can be well focused and structured. warning opeth is not for positive white magic pussys.

Theres also a great band called Porcupine Tree.

  • I love the song, but i really don't get this weird video. Can someone maybe explain what i'm actually seeing here?

  • Kevin is Great and please don't compare Kevin's music with Dream Theater's although Kevin was once part of the amazing band itself but his ideas and Dream Theater's ideas are two different worlds especially now so lets respect that and enjoy the music.

  • i respect that, but personally, a singer like labrie, isn't enough to dt, i like it, besides, but i'd prefer -another- singer.

    peace!

  • Perfect music.New ideas in metal/prog.

  • rocks my face and it kinda hurts

  • rocks my face and it kinda hurts

  • I actually agree, and I am a fan of dream theater.

  • OSI is good but dont diss DT

  • I AGREE!

  • Good to see Matheos and Moore in collaboration.

  • I love this ban, Osi is great! Go on Kevin!

  • Such an odd song, then again Moore is a very odd person. Now don't take that as an insult, it is brilliant.
