  • I think deaf people are like everyone else, I'm taking ASL because I want to talk to deaf people.

  • I argee with you!

  • I wonder how deaf people listen to music.

  • @Aar0nDavis they dont

  • @dwagner125 oh wait, there's Beethoven. He cut off the legs of his piano and listened through vibrations.

  • @Aar0nDavis silly question - I do enjoy music!

  • i love deaf people they're more funn than my hearing friends :D

  • It was reported on a Deaf dating site named Deafornot dot c om that 500,000 Deaf individuals in the United States claim American Sign Language (ASL) as their primary language.

  • excume me...i like your sign language with understand,yes...beacus small can understand...i from Indonesia...can learn sign langauae from you, beacuse me also deaf from Indonesia...thanks you.

  • @hertriani Wow! You are of deaf culture? Very nice meeting you. I know of sign language because my boyfriends mom is deaf. Your culture is beautiful

  • Even deaf people who speak face discrimination. Speaking or not. Nowadays, I feel like Deaf and HOH are generally more accepted. But that doesn't mean hearing people are treating us as equal because they are not.

  • SO RIGHT!!!!!! good that!

  • what the...i cant hear it what is this guy doing with his hands? I dont get it is this some kind of joke? Can someone explain?

  • Exodus 4:11

And the LORD said unto him, Who hath made man's mouth? or who maketh the dumb, or deaf, or the seeing, or the blind? have not I the LORD?

    Leviticus 19:14

Thou shalt not curse the deaf, nor put a stumblingblock before the blind, but shalt fear thy God: I am the LORD.

  • *waving hands up* Excellence spoken out of loud!

  • yeah I agree with you so it is not easy to educate all hearing ppl over the world but one day who know.....

  • I agree fully, God made us all different for HIS pleasure! MOST hearing people are uneducated about ALL that Deaf can do! Most hearing, but NOT ALL! Many many hearing people are now fascinated & full of respect for Deaf and ASL, why? hearing people are becoming familiar with Deaf because of ASL! Give us' hearies' a chance we love you. thanks

  • I hear but I have so much respect for people that cannot. I do not call them deaf because it'is often more used as a swear to them and I really think that's bad.

I think people not being able to hear are needed to be more respected rather then making fun of. And I do not care if anybody will shit on my comment, but that's my point of view. so yeah, Have respects. They aren't anything different from us, though their volume button is just muted. that's all.

  • @johnbeyer - If you know anything about the Deaf culture, it's that they are proud to be their own people. Now i don't want to speak for them, but the Deaf would take no offense to being called deaf, so sympathy isn't needed.

  • @kenwoo360 Okay, sure, good, I mean I could simply be rude to them aswell , right?

  • @johnbeyer well of course not! rudeness is rudeness. But what the Deaf consider rude is another lesson in itself. I'd suggest learning about it.

  • @johnbeyer What is your point here for being rude?

  • same some church heal deaf becoming hearing, some not. if found deaf not healing.they will say deaf not enough of faith.i read bible not true, his purpose of our gift of deaf many ways.i agreed him story.

  • I must say..I do totally agreed with ya..I was born deaf but..I do wear hearing aids and...spme people do ttreated me different not happy about but..I can deal with it...so..no probelm!

  • I believe that we all should b treated the same no matter what

  • Deaf people tend to stick together as a group and limit themselves from the world because they have this attitude that hearing people are putting them down. Were in new world and generation where deaf and HOH people become more accepted by hearing people just like how African American became more accepted by white people. Did you know that many hearing people who love or want to be part of deaf culture feel unwelcomed and treated are unkindly too?

  • @nikaxnika That is not completely true. I know several proud deaf people who welcome hearing people into their lives and don't think for a second that they are being put down.

  • @xXTragicDollyXx

I agree with you because I'm trying to not over generalize what I am saying.

  • Comment removed

  • @nikaxnika My daughter is an ASL interpretor and when I first meet her ASL friends they tend to ignore me. But they realize that even though I don't sign I understand much of what is said by them and can express myself in a way that they understand. Eventually I am accepted. I like this.

  • Deaf people are normal people but they are also not normal, they are unique and have a special quality that hearing people cant have. There is nothing wrong with a deaf person wanting to speak, if thats what he or she chooses. I respect you for choosing to sign and you should respect other peoples decision for choosing to speak. Deaf and hearing people are the same which is right but they separate themselves in different cultures.

  • its ignorance to say "hearing people" are always looking down on deaf people, alot of hearing people think sign language is cool and actually like meeting deaf people. Yes it is true there are people who are weirded out by deaf people because they dont know how to confront them or act polite around them. Hearing people arent use to deaf people because they are educated enough about other cultures and sign language. Its bullshit to say that hearing people look down on deaf people.

  • i can really agree to that. i have a blind cousin and i love people with disabilities, no matter what their disability is. i feel safer around them because i don't feel like they're judging me, and i feel like they have a huge amount of humbleness and compassion in their hearts. it's something i don't really see in "normal" people.

  • I find it amazing how he knows how to use sign language. I am of hearing and I am currently learning ASL :)

  • I quote the late Frederick Schreiber, Executive Director of NAD, who was fond of saying: "It's what's between the ears that count!" Fred would like that speech! Aristotle the Greek philosopher is the one who coined the term "deaf and dumb' because he thought speech and intelligence were related. He was proven wrong. A lot of hearing people have misconceptions about the deaf culture. Thank God for those who don't. Try to be friends with them!

  • That sure

  • what is he saying?

  • I am an upcoming interpreter and I am an ally for Deaf people and also an advocate disabled people. This video should be shared with more hearing people especially those of us trying to understand Deaf culture personally I am 100% behind everything you said.

  • wow !!! u make me inspirited and agree with u full !! yes yes we should share with hearing people .. please add me alright with you smile smile

  • there is a deaf kid in my gym class and he seams to read lips very whel i did not even no he was deaf untill one of the asistant teachers started signing to him

  • I agree with you. totally. I'm hearing impaired but I learned sign language, but yes you are so right

  • ¿wats up?Im deaf guy not ever HH I disagreed i made many hearing friends first time my hearing friends think all deaf people are low-memory/mind/brain few days later my hearing friends think im coolest person than friends and start wanna to learn how to sign language its happened to hearing ppl all hearing people were wrong about DEAF ppl so im in high school rite now(SR yr) my school all hearing must take ASL class GUESS All HEARING WRONG.Thanks for sharing and also my sharing.Peace Out

  • you know, coolevildude37...it happens that i agree with you. I mean when i used to be a hearing person...one of my boyfriends is deaf and when i met him i knew he was deaf and i even approached him because i think he was just so cute and i even started learning ASL...so, i can be able to communicate with him..now, that i am 27 years old, and lost my hearing because of presbycusis and Tinnitus i am hoh deaf and most of my friends want to learn ASL and i even read lips myself.

  • I often hear that most of the hearing world thinks less of deaf or looks down on them. I disagree with this statement. I think many hearing people may not know how to react around a deaf person because they don't know the language or may not want to look foolish with trying to communicate. Sometimes hearing people are confused or just uneducated on the whole matter. Being rude or condescending can be mistaken for being confused or uneducated. I would say most people dont look down on them.

  • Yes i totally agree with you that God has own purpose to create the beautiful people like Hispanic, Black, Asian, White and of course, Deaf on our planet.

  • My parents are deaf....I can tell u that they r NORMAL ppl...they r just like parents of my friends and better LoL....

I can understand what r u talking about ;) and I know deaf language :D

  • hola, si ese mas claro, ese mejor..

    bueno saludo bye

  • Im deaf, but Im hard of hearing with cochlear implant, it helps me to hear, and I KNOW! That deaf peopl are are just as normal as hearing people. Whoever says that deaf people are stupid, then they are retarted for calling them that and any other rude words.

  • I agree, i admire a lot deaf people, for keeping comunicating with other, its a constant battle for the,

  • can I say deaf and dumb if I'm talking about someone who can't hear or speak?

  • Hey, fluffypinkblonde. No, it's extremely offensive to say someone is deaf & dumb. They can speak; it's not like they have a physical, emotional or mental block, it's just that not being able to hear themselves speak or know how they sound, they can't always speak as well as a hearing person.

Hearing people learn about tone of voice, volume, etc. from childhood so it's simple for them. Deaf people sometimes CHOOSE not to speak because they aren't as adept at voicing & why should they be?

  • @fluffypinkblonde No. 'deaf' is fine but definitely not 'deaf and dumb'

  • o sordi fate schifo

  • OR the deaf person focuses soley on communicating in sign and not as much on the english language which leads to functional illiteratcy ( i cant spell) since ASL is its own language, seperate to that of english.

  • Its a given deaf people have to learn the written language of their country.

ASL seems like an awesome first language and it is certainly cool there is a deaf culture.

Some hearing people probably think deaf people are wierd. Most simply don't know how to accomodate them.

  • wow so much here to comment on, not the video but peoples comments. there is no relation to being deaf/hard of hearing and learning disabled. However there is delayed learning, being that sometimes a deaf person is mainstreamed or during their upbringing at a early age they werent taught or able to learn at the same pace as a hearing person due to the communication barrier.

  • The best way to learn ASL is being in the community. You can learn some stuff from websites but those are only the basic building blocks. Immersion is the best.

  • good explain,,,

i am happy deaf myself i am,,,

a deaf is a wonderful gift from mom' s womb by GOD

  • any kid is wonderful gift ... ;)

  • I'm hearing. I sign, I LOVE deaf culture. Hearing people are dumb to Deaf culture. But, a lot of hearing people have never met a Deaf person or even know that Deaf have a culture. BUT, Deaf people are sometimes also rude. Deaf and Hearing alike offend each other. I prefer Deaf culture in many ways but there are parts I'm not ok with because I'm not Deaf. I'll never be "D"-deaf. I think hearing people should learn about Deaf culture like they would, say, Japanese, but it doesn't come up as often.

  • Hearing people are just as dumb as they say deaf people are. Because some hearing people are dumb and so are some deaf people. Dumb people come from all walks of life not just the deaf community. I see it every day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!( As a matter of fact more hearing people are stupid because they don't pay attention to anything and don't care what others think.) And YES I am a hearing person!!!!!!!!

  • I completely agreed with you, it is God's purpose that he created us to determine and see how other are behaving towards us, only problem is that they picture our ASL as a funny image, I studied that they dont even bother people who are blind or sitting on wheelchair, they looked at them as if they are normal not us, WHY? right, Lot of people was doubtfully that I ran my own construction business, I had to show lot of proof to convince them, interested eh? Good speech

  • Honestly I don't find the 'deafness' attractive as I do side with the hearing world. I mean, the deaf are entitled to their own opinion on life, But I would rather have hearing than just being deaf. I am starting to think that being hard of hearing and learning disabled are linked. And about "deaf' culture, what about hearing culture, or hearing impairment culture? Doesn't make sense to me. There are trauma to one being deaf suddenly after hearing for a long time, even at a young age.

  • They are actually pretty smart. So, they dont have the ability to hear- all of the other senses they have, make up for that. I find that deaf community so amazing and the fact they use Sign language, even more amazing. I honestly think that the "gap" that is between the deaf and hearing worlds shouldn't be there. We are all humans, part of God's green earth, We're all the same but with different abilities.

  • There still is a huge problem between hearing and deaf people. I, myself, come from 2 deaf parents - I am hearing. Although, I have experienced problems with hearing people (I see myself like I'm deaf sometimes too) treating my parents as if they were incapable in everyday things & the stupid phrase I still hear people use is today is "Deaf and Dumb" which, in my why does it apply to deaf people?

  • The term "Deaf and Dumb" is an old one that changed in meaning. Long ago the term "dumb" meant unable to produce understandable speech. Over the years dumb changed to mean unintelligent, just like the term "Gay" changed from meaning "very happy" to "homosexual". All languages change. However my blood still boils when I hear someone use the expression "deaf and dumb". I immediately give them that same explanation and ask them to not use that word anymore in relation to deaf people.

  • I understand that. I just dislike the word that "close-minded" people still use towards Deaf people. Believe me, I would NEVER use in relation to the deaf population. I actually prefer to speak and mingle with Deaf people over hearing people :).

  • I understand so please don't take what I said as criticism of you.

When I hear someone use the term "D and D..." I remind myself to stay calm and explain how offensive that term is now. Most of the time it is not close-mindedness but ignorance that is the problem. Thanks for commenting.

  • forgive me that i use the word dumb only only hearing people to mean stupid in a playful way.

I use mute most of the time to discuss somebody can;t talk.

My language is chalk full of sound phrases: language is related to the tongue, I will "listen" to you, etc. Changing language doesn't solve real problems but sometimes hurts ppl less.

Look at black ppl. What to call them? Keep arguing on that and keep them poor/marginalized

  • The problem with the term deaf is originally ignorant people considered ppl unable to talk to be stupid. Whatever word was used then to mean can't talk would have a bad meaning today.

Its sad to "hear" of your parents bad experiiences. I think its encouraging deaf culture is there now. The more deaf people band togather the "louder" your "voice.

Damn hearing ppl with their sound based words. ;)

  • @truevoiceofsanity haha! I know this is an old comment but I'd like to discuss it. I have NO IDEA how to describe that kind of thing now! I've lost some of my hearing and have been using ASL as a major mode of communication whenever possible, suppose I've had a conversation or saw someone discuss something using asl and I tell someone about it in English, I feel so awkward saying "They said" or "I heard" or anything like that xD Feels awkward!

  • For you to say that "ALL HEARING" people are like this or that is just as bad as the attitudes you are condemning. I have Deaf friends who say things like "Oprah hates Deaf people" or "That employer is against Deaf people"

The truth is, that while there are bigoted people in the world, most people are simply unfamiliar with the life, language and culture of the Deaf. Seriously I doubt that there are very many people who wake up in the morning, thinking "how can I make life harder for the Deaf?"

  • This is for deaf people, if you want to know that language then go and learn ASL 101, we could not even understand on many hearing vlogs because they dont care if they should put closed caption.

  • Comment removed

  • Responding to your comment. I for one other issue on your point of view is senseless. However, human beng have five senses. If one of these is missing is normal. Is that what you mean?

  • So, according to you, being Deaf is a malady and everyone who is Deaf is defective, right?

No, being Deaf has nothing to do with not listening. Deaf people listen better than most Hearing people do. It's just the fact that the hearing have completely functioning ears, the Deaf do not; one uses and audible language, another uses a visual language.

Being Deaf is not a disability. It is a culture bulit by people who choose to communicate with their hands.

  • by the way, this is for larryfilms; not deafpcatoby. (just to avoid any confusion)

  • my girlfriends parents were born deaf, and she is hearing....when i see her sign to her mom its simply amazing!!! i never knew it was a whole culture!!strong enough to stand on its own.if i were deaf i wouldnt care what the hearing thought.

  • I know what you mean I am H of H but still hear. But yeah there is no difference. either way. all same I not understand that Hearing ppl think deaf are dumb bec they can't talk. whats the big deal? we use are hands to talk and thats comuicating as well. Yes also you say they talk behind back? If i got that right. But I know deaf ppl who I worked with got work done 3 X faster cuz of sound not hearing.best example Sue Thomas F.B.EYE! Proof all can do same work. msg me back ttl bye sk peace. :)

  • sign language is soo cool!

  • you truly make weird noises when you talk, lol. sorry, had to point that out. so anyway, i believe that hearing people find deaf people intimidiating and that is okay because they never have seen a deaf person before. sometimes you need to stop being an ass because you seem like one, haha. peace. =D

  • DUDE speak up i cant hear U

  • NICE!

  • Omg I was just about to post this

  • hey man dont be a fuckin dick ok thats realy disrepectful to an entire culture as well as him, so what he cant hear you and has to use his hand u think your so fuckin special everyones got to be able to talk and hear in your world, WELL GUSSE THE FUCK WHAT YOUR IN THE REAL WORLD!!!! and shit dont work the way you want it too, FUCK u inconsiderate jackass, u and everyone who agrees with you should be shot!!!!! but asl as a whole i love the culture and wish that i could sign again :'( -Noodles

  • If a lot of people would try to look at the reason of deaf people, just because of 1 simple symbol, would they change their hearings?

    Or earrings?

  • I don't see deaf people as differnt really. I love to watch and I am learning their wonderful language. I hope I can be good at communicating so I can give a friendly hello wen I see them :D

  • that one is easy. You know how Navy men salute? well use that gesture and say hello while you use that gesture. its that easy.

and while you salute go outward with your hand to say the word hello.*smile*

  • i WISH i knew ASL

    im learning tho :)

  • I have been learning sign on ASLPro. com They have a great video dictionary on that site with thousands of words and phrases. It is so much easier to learn ASL when you can actually see it rather then trying to learn it from a book.

  • lol thats the site that im learning from! :), and you are right, it is a lot easier.

  • ecaep45, can you please share the website that you are learning ASL from? I'd love to know since I am really trying hard to learn ASL. Thanks so much!

  • Thank you for being upfront and honest about how you feel. I totally understand what you are saying.

Hearing people (not all) but most hearing people see us as being NOT normal.

I wished that they can see the beauty in our language.

What a pitiful world we live in.

  • My girlfriend is deaf, however, I am not. I have never saw her as not normal. She simply speaks a different language. I think that ASL is a beautiful language!

  • well i for one ( hearing ) love ASL its so much easier to comunicate in and express your self, and i love all my deafy firends theyh are so cool but get mad when i dont know a sign owell pratice makes perfect!!!! - noodles

  • thats right.. practice makes perfect!

    Keep hanging in there. *wink*

  • yo I got a question for the guy who video this youtube....I'm hearing impaired or hard of hearing...you saying that you're sick of hearing people looking down to deaf people...well, im sick of deaf people looking me down because im hearing impaired. So your point is?

  • Zomg. Right to the point. However, I'm not implying that I believe in God... I respect his religious values though. Deaf are viewed as 'lesser beings' and are treated as thus by the majority of the hearing population.

  • sign language is so beautiful..

  • hey, don't make stereo types, i think you people are normal. more normal than i anyway lol!

  • I totally understand you and where you're coming from.

Thank you for explaining how we as deaf people have to overcome in a "hearing world".

  • im deaf too and suffered humilations as i lost my self esteem people started teasing as i became deaf 4 years later and i have suicidal tendencies but i dont know how to survive as my parents are not cooperative.

  • as I am deaf as well and my parents know nothing of sign language as I can hear some.

If you want your parents to udnerstand you, you need to talk to them . MAKE THEM LISTEN! That is all you can do. Please seek help before you hurt yourself.

Being deaf is not all that bad. I was born deaf and sometimes wished that I was hearing, but then I look at myself and think.... What is so wrong with being deaf? GOD made me this way. Be brave and sit down with your parents and tell them how you feel.

  • I think it is absolutely awful that a person would be persecuted simply because of deafness. The idea is unfathomable. I'm sorry for what ever prejudice has been pushed upon you. It is simply terrible.

  • If only more medical professionals would watch and learn from this, maybe there would be less Deaf children being forced to "fit in" to the hearing world. I agree with you, not a thing wrong with being in the Deaf world!

  • I agree, forcing people to fit in doesn't work. Hearing people should know how to communicate with deaf people, the same as deaf people are expected to learn to communicate with the hearing. I plan on taking ASL in college, partly because I'm hard-of-hearing and partly because some colleges will count it as part of a Linguistics degree.

  • ok now only i know it's different throughout the world

  • they're normal....i wish i can learn the sign language...i think it's almost the same everywhere in the world rite???

  • No it is not... Each language has their own sign language...

  • This is American Sign Language. It's used in America and Canada, mostly. In England, Ireland, South Africa, Australia and New Zealand (as well as non English-speaking countries, of course), they have completely different sign languages.

You should learn, though; they're very beautiful and expressive languages!

  • just curious, when you fingerspelled "DA" is that the loan sign for "dumbass"? Anyway, you have some very good points. I think things would be different if we started educating ALL children, hearing and Deaf, about Deaf culture and ASL starting in elementary school. keep up the good work!

  • AHAHAHA what he does with his mouth at :37 is friggin hilarious. Man can you teach me how how to say "ever heard of music" in ASL. That would be awesome. Thanks.

  • Amen!! I'm a coda (child of deaf parents) I grew up in the deaf community. Although I can hear, I prefer the deaf community:)

    God Bless!!

  • Good one, T!

  • I understand how you feel. Honestly, most people don't look down on us... Well, they may act like it... but really they just don't know what to do with deaf people, afraid to make a conversation. Just try to be friendly to those people and they will understand us later. I am deaf and I don't care if anyone looks down on me, because I know that I am special. God made the way I am. Because of my deafness, I've met many wonderful people. I want to help both hearing and deaf people.

  • deaf people rock and we are all equall my parents are deaf later

    _\,,/

  • amen brotha. i'm hearing, but grew up in the deaf community. I think that's why some hearing people use terms like "hearing impaired" -- they can't handle the thought of accepting the word "Deaf". What's so "impaired" about being Deaf? Even in the 21st century, the age of "diversity", they still can't comprehend that being Deaf isn't "different from normal". They still can't understand Deaf culture. Anyway, I totally agree with deafpcatoby.

  • to tell the truth i couldnt understand half of wat he said but i wanna stop this thouth

that daef people r different from the people that can hear

    EVERY ONE IS EQUAL

  • everyone is NOT equal, just that you are not deaf, you have no idea how difficult to not able to hear

  • and i dont think anyone should tell someone else how to feel about their sister. its funny to sign while driving. idiot. your sad for saying that to him. deaf people are the same as normal people. everyone is created equal. and who talks about crime in reference to non-deaf people? thats assinine

  • im not wrong... im trying to prove that people get too serious about everything online. deaf people wanna be looked at as normal people but then at the same time want all kinds of different treatment. its hypocritical. and i also understand its not all deaf people. but some. anyway your gramatical collage proved that you feel the need to come back at me over a damn comment on the internet. stop taking people so seriously because you know what you believe and a youtube comment wont change it.-VZE

  • additional .you had a videos by yourtube . not that good. i don't agreed whole videos that you talking so much. that is make sense. probably you might in the trouble . warning

  • correct

  • I got a sister who is deaf but still I find people look funny when they do sign language.

The worst part about my sister is when she expects me to have a conversation with her while I'm driving. lol

  • thats sad that u think that its funny. try being deaf and see how it feels.

  • dude, i know what you mean. its really annoying. they just have to accept who we are. they cant change who we are. thats life, i guess. but...be proud to be deaf! and i am proud to be deaf.

  • Deaf or Not, people can choose who they want to be, if they want to learn how to speak, so be it. IF deaf people want to learn the language, so be it. God made us who we are? well god choose our path too, so whatever decision we make, he's with us all the way. DEAF OR NOT!

  • Fuck you BMAX you overreact and you talk internet trash. Get a job. You think youre so sensitive and understanding of deaf people but talk shit to people about a damn comment on a website. Do something constructive with your life and start acting less childish.

  • deaf people killed my mom. i hate them

  • you shouldnt hate them as a group, not all are the same. Pray for them God will help you with your pain.

  • i m sorry to hear that but u guys narrow mind,,, even everybody having crime and rape how dare u think that deaf only killed mother..

who is most crime in the world is you and all of non deaf is high crime or murder than deaf... u are worst your own.. deaf is deaf business and none of ur business to see this

  • uhhhh neo i am sorry but your grammar sucks... i mean i THINK i might get what you mean and VZE is wrong but i was kind of lost in what you tried to say

  • if anyone is interested in an ASL pen pal let me know! you can find me on Skype as megnelson222 OR on Yahoo as mrsnelson222 :)

  • Did that guy just call me an asshole?

  • I am hearring and have alot of deaf friends I absolutly love learning asl.I do not think deaf people are strange.Have you seen some of us hearing people we are the ones that need help.lol. I would not trade me deaf friends for anything. And I am lucky to have such great friends.

  • id like to learn someday

  • i feel bad for the people who have problems

  • okay i was soo expecting the answer to that and sat there watching for 3 mins confused lol

if its american sign language does that mean there are other sign languages? why didnt they make it easy and make just one sign language?..... so theres no need to translate

  • There is no "one sign language" for the same reason there is no ONE language for the entire World to use. People naturally developed language through evolution and for that reason, there are a variety of different spoken and signed languages across the world.

  • As was said: for the exact same reason that there is not only one spoken language.

  • its actually an odd thought for hearing people but Deaf in America cant understand Deaf in England... even though the hearing population can!

  • i have no problem with deaf people at all, i just cant do sign language so theres basicly a language barrier, its like someone who speaks only and spanish trying to talk to someone who speaks only english, they are both making an attempt but lack of further ecducation keeps them from understanding each other, this is how 70 precent of wars start

  • ppl whodon't uinderstand ......be glad you can't...lololololol

  • Please add subtitles ... !?

  • L2 sign!

  • So what can we do as Deaf and hearing in the Deaf culture to help the hearing people understand Deaf? We must teach them! Racism wasn't cleared out overnight, honestly it is still happening. If we take the time to show and explain why Deaf are the same as hearing except they can't hear, then we will see people change. If we sit back and just complain then we won't see growth or change. Stand up and go teach someone about the Culture.

  • Good explain!

  • Well put

  • I have been invovled with the Deaf community for about 5 years now. I would like to say that everything you said was somewhat truth. The reason hearing people look down on the deaf is not out of snobbyness it out of ignorance. They don't look at you the same as prostitutes or gamblers, but they do look at you with pity most of the time. They can't understand that not hearing is your "normal" so they don't understand that it doesn't bother you. I am hearing, but love all people.

  • I wish I could actually comment but by watching I can tell you're not exactly happy about how non-deaf people treat the deaf or how they may see deaf people as but I hope you don't think most people feel so negatively towards people with hearing disabilities.
