For the most part, I agree. But the thing you said "they don't care if you're best mom in the world, they just love you" is just not right. Of course they care, they care about every little detail and if you don't pay attention to them, they're going to grow up resenting your actions towards them when they were little.

Some things child shouldn't do and you should be adamant about it, but at the same time it should be rewarded for his achievements and good behavior at every opportunity.
