This is a very rare clip indeed, if anyone has anymore clips of the Lift Off TV show, I would be very interested. I believe that Granada wiped most of the tapes of this show.
The only band who could come close to Slade in those days. Another band who made the 70s great. Love this and Ayshea, well what 70s teen lad could forget her?? Oh for a time machine to take the kids back to when pop / rock music was one great big adventure!!!
@bigmagic96 The Sweet were far more talented than Slade, in everyway! But for some strange reason, The Sweet did not get the credit that they deserved. The record buying puplic don't know talent when they see it.
@razor71927 Who is better is purely a matter of opinion. I don't agree they didn't get the credit they deserved: they were hugely successful, fondly remembered as one of the greatest of the era and critically acclaimed too after departing Chinnichap.
Long live The Mighty Slade ..... and The Mighty Sweet
@bigmagic96 Ironically The Sweet only had one number one single "Blockbuster" in their whole career. They should of at least had another four singles to their credit at the top - for being such a brilliant band. Yes, they were still successful, but not as much as they should of been.
went for a drink in 1996, with AYSEA, who told me that she in the nineties she had been with Bjorn again - sometime later i worked out, this was the same AYSEA, who had been in UFO tv series- and LIFT OFF..... her brother/stepbrother worked for CUSTOMS and EXCISE, so she said- dont think she woukd have had the same fan base as JENNY HANLEY , actress and MAGPIE presenter or the ever popular, SALLY JAMES from Saturday Scene , who may have in fact been aquainited with AYSEA....
I was in love with Ayshea. who wasn't?
