  • @tiius @AbbeyRoadkill1 Jimi hendrix also improved the national anthem, before him it was shit:P

  • April 24! Jack's solo album!

  • i love the robert planty voice

  • JACK WHITE AT ROCK WERCTHERRRRRRRR, pretty excited 'bout it

  • The original is better. It has a subtle ethereal power to it. Jack does a good job of making the song his own, but no one can out-do U2.

  • @AbbeyRoadkill1 Oh ofcourse they can be out done. Everyone can be out-done.

  • @tiius In the history of all music (not just rock 'n roll), there are very, very few cover versions that are better than the original (the only one I can think of at the moment is the Jimi Hendrix version of Bob Dylan's "All Along the Watchtower"). Jack's version of "Love Is Blindness" is not one of them. That's not to say it's not a good version-- it is. It's just not better than the original. Jack himself would be the first to say so.

  • @AbbeyRoadkill1 Noticing your name, I am going to tell you two Beatles covers I find better then the original. Taxman by Stevie Ray Vaughn and With A Little Help From My Friends by Joe Cocker. And it's true it's not better then the original, I didn't say so, but I was just saying :). (Hendrix' cover is superb btw.)

  • @tiius Yeah, I basically agree with you on Joe Cocker because he actually changed the song-- made it a blues tune. Although, I totally disagree on SRV. I'm a HUGE SRV fan-- saw him in concert about 2 months before he died-- but he didn't improve on the original 'Taxman'. My criteria on whether a cover is better than the original is if the cover actually changes the original in some substantial way THAT IMPROVES THE SONG. There's a very short list of covers that do that.

  • anyone feel a little bit of pink floyd's 'Pow R. Toch H' at the beginning with all the weird vocal sounds and clicks. amazing cover, jack white is a musical oracle.

  • 1:57 ... Love that.

  • RIP White Stripes :(

  • why cant they make more songs like this? bluesy, simple chord structure with pasisonate singing? nirvanas "where did you sleep last night" is the only other song that is in this category i can think of... sigh

  • @palatialregalia88 Where did you sleep last night was a cover that Nirvana did. I think Kurt says it's a Lead Belly song originally? I just know its a cover. But I agree with you other than that :)

  • Yes! I love U2, and I LOVE Jack White. Perfection meets perfection.

  • Ouai il se l'est completement approprié mais je prefere l'orginial, sa version est pas mal mais je prefere le solo de Edge! Jack White a un putain de talent quand mm!

  • I don't like U2 at all, no offense, but I never truly enjoy a U2 song in any capacity until the moment I heard this version.

  • @mussman717word > I totally agree. U2 has some decent songs, but they sure aren't as great as they are made out to be. But this is pretty awesome.

  • Jack White is probably the only modern age musician who has something very very important that many musicians lack.

EMOTION!! SOUL!! THIS IS ROCK N ROLL!

  • I can't even listen to the original anymore...Jack's emotions bleed through his vocals and create a raw sound that's just so rare...as a musician i try to be that awesome

  • @carsonLILL Same, and Im a pretty big U2 fan.

  • OMG love this............jack sounds like his soul is in pain

  • I'm being picky, but Jack's vocals create more distance between his voice and the instruments. I think Bono's original version sounds better because his voice plays off of the instrumentation better. That's just my opinion. I think Bono's original version creates more of a cohesive sound scape.

  • @drogoscg1 You sound like some kind of jag off music teacher who alienates his students from the beauty of the music. Yes, cohesive whatever is good and stuff. Jack in this song exudes the very thing missing from modern rock musicians. Aside from illiciting chills in me which nothing does anymore he just bleeds raw emotion and soul. The vocals are so torn and painful you KNOW this song is about love. I like Bono but this is exactly what music needs now. Emotion Soul, this is rocknroll

  • Eargasm.

  • I listen to this for the organ. That shit sounds like a B3 with a Leslie 122 cab.

  • Mr. Jack White!

  • there's a lot of gay in the comments section

  • i wonder the way jack can make all songs incredible... perhaps there is a part of his soul in all songs...

  • @nazzik112358 Its because he is influenced by all the best parts of music in the last 60 or 70 years. From Zep to Son House. Thats what most musicians today are missing, any sense of music before MTV.

  • Jack the king.

  • amazing cover

  • i think the raw anger comes from his recent divorce

  • @thenoparkingchannel: I dunno. I mean, didn't they throw a divorce party? I don't think he holds grudges against his exes. Meg White (yes, he used to be married to her, too), was the maid of honor in his 2nd wedding. And he even kept Meg's last name (which he took from Gillis).

    He's weird, but crazy talented.

  • Great song. I just featured it on my channel.

  • I hate U2 and seriously don't see what's the fuss about but Jack White nails it.

  • @Frutoses i understand the love its like if you put a normal band i a huge room. personally i love where the streets have no name

  • Rarely does a cover song capture and exceed the original. This was one of them. Well done Jack.

  • kids need stop interneting and enjoy the music. jack whites amazing, this song is ripping, his voice is killer, the solo rocks, shut up.

  • Jack MotherFucking White. Genius. Genius. Genius.

  • Shouldve had Jack do 1/3, the killers do 1/3 and NIN do the rest of the cover album.

  • @robhartjr1993 take out the killers...

  • @fede018 nah, just cause you are lame and don't like the killers doesnt mean everyone else doesnt. idiot.

  • @robhartjr1993 geez, calm down, you frigid twat

  • @fede018 calm down over the internet? Ill calm down when mine and Jack Whites cocks are out of your mothers holes. itll take a while though. be patient troll :)

  • fucking chills man

  • yes! so much soul! despite the electronics and effects, the emotion comes through and blows you away! this is how to make music!

  • Solo album Jack. C'mon it's time for it!

  • @MrSikzak you got your wish; comes out in April holmes

  • @MrSikzak Blunderbuss <3 hes doing one :)

  • @MrSikzak Comming sooooooooooon :D

  • Good vocal cover, but the gutteral, cardiac signature bass of the original is sorely absent.

  • You can tell how much he loves this song.

  • Amazing x

  • Check out Cassandra Wilson's "Love Is Blindness". Her version is a mind blower.

  • My heart is in my mouth.

For the first time in ages I feel intense happiness after hearing Jack White Shriek his heart out.

    I absolutely love this.

  • @DhaliaFrantic So much better then the Dead Weather.

  • Wow!!! One of my all time favorite U2 songs brought back in a fabulous cover version!!! Great job Jack; now that's the way to rock a classic!!!

  • solo @1:58

  • Divine.

  • Genial version!!!!

  • best of the covers by far

  • EPIC

  • One of the greatest albums of all time, and what a tour!!1 Got to see them twice at Wembly Stadium, mind blowing never to be beat! Fantastic version from jack, but hey every song on the album is pure magic , love your version Jack!!!

  • Da de 1 bilhão a 0 na original !!

  • Oh!! It is very different from original version. But I do love it. Amazing.

  • This version is amazing. Jack White is a god!

  • my god, it is good to hear jack white play a guitar solo again. i'll never get sick of that

  • The anger has move from Edge's guitar to Jack's vocal..........

  • wow really high notes

  • Fucking song ripped my heart open and I LOVE it !!!

    Thank you

  • Dammm!!! This is proof that Jack white can sing and just radiate emotion that deals with anger and sadness it's undescriable

  • Definitely the best cover on the album. My fave U2 song and he killed it! Well done, Jack!

  • Edge said this was his favourite song from the cover album

  • @U2FANATIC07 Well if you remember It Might Get Loud, together with the obvious nods in Rattle and Hum and so forth, it's pretty clear that all of U2 has a pretty major soft spot for great blues and other classic American music. I can't imagine a better compliment than to hear Jack White tear the hell of out a song as well as he does here.

  • @U2FANATIC07 Its the only song that doesn't sound like a cover...

  • it just missed the amazing Edge guitar solo at the end and this could be perfect

  • Where the original is filled with sorrow almost to the point of apathy, this is pure rage! A fantastic cover that adds a new dimension to the song - well done!!!

  • Gotta love Jack White's take on this great song!

  • This is a more bitter, angry, loud interpretation of the song. The U2 version is more haunting, somber melancholy. It's two completely different approaches. I prefer the U2 version with Bono voice. It has this soulful depth to it that I find more moving.

  • the vocal squeeks at the begining distract me before the song even begins. so out of place it throws the whole song off for me. maybe if i edit it and take that bit of suck out i can enjoy it..

  • Yeah i can see why Bono liked this one.

  • @smurfu2 Hehe, yeah, it really good! U2's version is better, but I like this one!

  • uhh, well.. hmm... it has its moments, i gues.. supose depends on your taste, this isnt really my thing

  • Do you also have the Nine Inch Nails version of Zoo Station?

  • only way ill listen to a u2 song is thru jack white

  • nice to see these artists pay tribute to the last good U2 album.

  • Jack White is just better than anyone, everyone, everything.

  • WOW!!!

  • Fucking amazing.

  • Even better than the real thing

  • Is this supposed to be a parody of the original song? If so, he succeeded beyond his wildest dreams....

  • fucking good!!

  • I love Jack White, hate U2. ..

  • @DocCereal great. now go tell that to someone who gives a fuck

  • HO---LY----SHIT

  • Kickass

  • jack white is my favorite person in music second to none and this does nothing but back that up for quality cover of a quality song by now two quality artists

  • Comment removed

  • would love to see what he would do with the fly :)

  • @brannighan212 That would be unbelievable. I remember when I first heard about this I thought Jack would fit The Fly better (he still killed this though).

  • This song seems like the perfect thing for him to put out right now given his current personal situation.

  • Oh God, I love this man.

  • BRAVO!!!

  • Alright. Let's kill Bono now.

  • I never buy Q but I think I'm gonna have to get the next issue for this CD, Achtung Baby is such a brilliant album.

  • He obviously has known and loved this song for a long time. Amazing job of one of U2's many hidden gems. Nice work Jack! Now can someone please have someone redo One please because Damien Rice did terrible. Watch U2 Love is Blindness in Sydney in Zoo TV to see how awesome the original is.

  • Es una mierda.

  • I love reading these comments. I love U2. Without question they are my favorite band. They have enriched my life beyond compare. I adore this cover as well, Jack White is a creative genius. I also want to thank those of you who can't stand U2 because it absolutely balances my boundless admiration and love of them. The world is a strange and magnificent place!

  • WOW...I was skeptical when I heard Jack White was going to cover U2 but Jack can be very proud of this cover - I think this might be one of the best covers I've heard him do

  • OMG.....BRILLIANT!

  • @iceonaboy no, just stop, its not even funny

  • @iceonaboy whatever dude. you can curse at Bono, but at the end of the day... you haven't met the Pope, and I don't think Jack White wants to cover any of your songs. I think Bono wins.

  • i guess it would take a stroke of jack white to get me to enjoy something from U2.

  • A spectacular interpretation, although I would expect no less from Jack White.

Achtung Baby! What an album, what a tour, what a time in life and music that was... Thanks U2

  • @Cornerboy73 ZOOtv changed live shows forever. My first ever U2 concert was on the 8th of August 1993. What a show. It was the Edge's birthday too.

  • @smurfu2 Not sure it changed shows forever. There's more video now, but what made Zoo unique was that the video rarely showed the band and the images competed with the band for your attention. For the most part, video screens today do exactly what they did prior to U2: they show images of the band playing.

  • @spammeifyoumust The best qoute from anybody at a ZOOtv gig was "it's all to fast i feel my brain going into overload" To me ZOOtv changed stadium tours. I have seen a few big bands in Stadiums and ZOOtv knocked them out of the water.

  • 1:21 = an angel singing.

  • @ennayeslek 0:00 - 3:14 = an angel singing ( :

  • @Rebenga, the whole point of a cover should be to make it their own, which is what Jack has done, he has taken the song to another level.

While the original is dark and atmospheric, Jack's version is harder and gives the lyrics a more bitter feeling by the way his emotion rings out.

TOP COVER, i think i love U2 even more now....

  • @eRiBuSmAn impossibile 2 take 2 another level..u2s version is the best asshole..actually this version fucking sucks

  • @ju2181970 do you know me? No! So what is with the "asshole" name call? I love U2 right, and another artist is respecting another. Just like when Edge and White played together in It Might Get Loud. Shame you can't respect my comment on the brilliant cover. White HAS taken the song to another level if you like it or not. That is fine by me.

But i have always said, biggest band in the world producers some of the biggest idiot fans in the world...

  • @eRiBuSmAn

Finally, agree. I've heard all the leaked songs. This one is the only one so far that feels like it was made the artist's own.

  • I think I just peed my pants. That was AWESOME!

  • Amazing cover.

  • Well, on Achtung Baby "Love is Blindness" was the Closing, the right track that could end that masterpiece.

This version doesn't work just because it doesn't have the same closing atmosphere like U2's.

Respect to Edge's work please, or well, RESPECT TO AN UNKNOWN MASTERPIECE!

  • fuck YEAH ! !

  • Amazing.

  • do you happen to have any of the other covers that Q is releasing? :)

  • oh my god, best cover ever!

  • The original is a beautiful prayer like and solemn lament. Edge takes it a whole other level. Jack White did something interesting with it and made it his own.

  • Saw U2 in Nashville. Wish they got Jack up. That would have been amazing. This is such a great cover.

  • I like U2 but I adore Jack White, but that honestly isn't the reason why I prefer this version. Jack's vocals are bursting with a bluesy passion that Bono simply doesn't have.

  • Not bad version... I imagine if Janis Joplin sang it...

  • I do not like distorted sounds

  • @popmartour So you're telling me you don't like rock and roll then... I'm pretty sure U2 has ultilized distortion... As has any rock guitarist since Bob Dylan blew the crowd away at the Newport Folk Festival in 1965.

What generation were you from? The one that killed Hitler or something? Listened to big band and decried the hippies?

  • @BollocksUtwat I DO NOT LIKE IT, THAT'S ALL

  • well done :)

  • Excellent cover.

  • An interesting take on the original. Respect to JW!

  • Fab cover, its a hard song to live up to from the album thu but I think he really gave it his best and the result is amazing..

Also seem like a well produced project, not cheap shit like other free magazines, well done Q.. , Jack White's fans will be delighted :)

Can't wait for DM cover of 'So Cruel!!

  • Wow this is incredible! One of Jacks' best covers, and that's really saying something with his history. Love the vocals.

  • Nothing can top U2 doing this song, especially the acoustic versions, but this IS AWESOME!!!!!

  • Sucks that us U2 fans here in the States won't get the CD with issues imported into the US.

  • @AndrewMann552 Check out Ebay. there are a number of them up for sale currently.

  • awesome.

  • at the end of the song Jack White sounds like Robert Plant voice!

  • @latingorillaz I've always thought that Jack White sounds scaringly similar to Robert Plant. Would be amusing to hear him cover one of their songs.

  • Jack White is one of the rare few who can do a cover and make it sound better than the original

  • @tinangena You need to sue the doctor who gave you shock therapy, because obviously there's been some permanent damage.

  • @AndrewMann552 Haha very funny. I love the original too! But I love Jack White to death. So that's MY opinion and I'm sticking to it!
