my husband has severe ADHD-and btw he's also very funny. And you know what, although he's perfectly intelligent you wouldn't believe what the man can miss cause he just tunes out. ADHD and ADD (now often thought to be separate conditions) have neurological components to their pathophysiology. Dopamine pathways, dopamine production, production of additional catecholamines like norepinephrine (add a methyl group on dopamine). These and many other neurological signs are coming to the surface with improved scanning.

ADHD does not affect intelligence or even comprehension; however, it does affect attention, organization, and some inhibitions. ADHD is not a form of retardation or autism.

Some of the most learned scholars and researchers of ADHD have ADHD. Why don't you go read one of their articles and educate yourself before spouting off your ignorant mouth again?

@dumbo800 That is correct.My dad and I both have ADD and have educated not only ourselves but our peers about it as well. we like to think of it as a different way of thinking. its not necessarily good or bad but for us it is a different way of handling tasks, situations, etc. I use to be really sensitive about it because i use to get made fun of about it (people were so ignorant back when it was first diagnosed) but now most of the people i know either have it or understand that its no big deal

Just a small correction. ADHD is actually Autism and lies within the same spectrum as OCD and Aspergers.

You could say that ADD/ADHD is the "chaotic" side of the Autism where as OCD is strict order and control n' Aspergers (which i have) is right smack in the middle.

And as you say, Autism has nothing to do with stupidity i.e Einstein had Aspergers.
