To me as an employee of an big organization what Mrs Berthia is doing is simply securing her Job. Her explanations are bold and to the point but does not sound believable. She is unaware that she is not actually taking to Christopher but to the local industries and farmers of St. Lucia. Christopher on the other hand is a fighter, he will go against any system that seems ruling or overwhelming. He is the voice of the public.
I think it was very useful for Christopher to express on prime-time radio what is in real terms the prevailing perception of Tourism as an industry in St. Lucia. No doubt our peculiar history makes us suspicious. However, I really appreciated Berthia's contribution as she sought to set the record straight. I don't think that the layman needs to do any research beyond whatever news is distributed by the media. It is in fact the media who should be doing the research to add truth to perception.
i agree..these guys are now a one stop shop...cut out the middle man (lucian small business men/farmers) and make more profit right......cant blame berthia , she speaking for her money...right !! self before coutry...right?? then again it in all sectors of st.lucia ...including higher ups...thats jus how it is in lucian ..helen of the west is turning to a whore....
This debate was intense. Berthia Parle is right the hotel needs to do more local PR. Because the only PR I get from them is security guards scrutinising me on a public access beach in front the hotel, and being forced to walk four miles to a beach by Jalouise. And who can forget Sandals private beach? The hotels certainly seem to take a big chunk back from the country of whatever charity they give.
