If I'm not mistaken it's a part of Eastern Culture to wear a mask while playing a musical instrument. It was considered an act of arrogance to show your face while performing back in the day. Other than that, I have no idea why he's wearing a mask. Still a great job!

Try to keep a steasy tempo. I know I have the same problem but it helps if you can practice the whole song on one tempo rather than certain parts at certain tempos.
