@CoolGuy95ya the early efforts by both were good.....but with commercial success the quality went way down with BIG and way, way, way, waaaayyyyyyy down with Pac......
Just heard these guys for the first time.. first of all id like to say i love songs with these dark sounding electric guitar strings in em.. second of all i love when a sick beat suddenly kicks in, n third of all i love it when the dj just goes crazy on the scratching at the climatic ending of a track. Also Prolyphic is fuckin sick. so all in all, props!
I am a huge fan of tupac and a big fan of biggie but I still love the way he opens this song. I love the menacing production, is just like he's the grim reaper coming to drop the guillotine on the entire mainstream industry.
@makavelilivz I agree. I love this song, possible the most controversial and bold song of 2008...but sage francis is forgetting NOBODY is perfect, whether common who is wearing chains and gap clothes...or tupac who talked about how much he loved women and then gangbanged a helpless black women with some friends. because in that case prolyphic or sage francis is the only perfect person in the world.
Power of the internet story... I was arguing with a cat online about how there are sooooo many dode white mc's..I googled a list and found a video, Prolyphic was on there with a clip of this joint. I heard oneline and the beat went str8 to itunes bought it and have bumped it so much it's stupid. After realizing he was put on by Sage, I also remember him have a freestyle or quick guest spot on Sage's Still Sick...Urine Trouble
THIS DUDE CAME UP!!! I FEEL EVERYTHING HE SAYS IN THIS SONG!
@astumpe80 Well, what I meant to say was it was an era that had years in both the 80's and 90's, not 1980-1999. I would agree with you in the general time frame, but I would say '87-'97.
@Creixhitme I'm with you, but '86 was a hell of a year, here's some of my favs (Albums and Singles): Beasties-License to Ill Run DMC-Raising Hell Stetsonsonic-On Fire LL Cool J- Radio Eric B & Rakim-Eric B is President BDP-South Bronx Kool Moe Dee-Go See the Doctor Ultramagnetic MCs-Ego Trippin' Kool G Rap-Its a Demo Biz Markie-Make the Music With Your Mouth Biz
@astumpe80 - License to Ill was from 86? Dang, I really need to check the years on some of the stuff I have. It's true that 86 was a good year retrospectively, but I've always looked at the beginning of the golden age as being marked by Paid in Full because of all that it did for rap. However, Run-DMC's revolutionizing the beats to the sound we have today is pretty important. I agree with you.
wow , amazing

kaluhfornya 1 year ago
@kaluhfornya Yea, 90's was the Golden era of hip hop.
SW4TR3PP1N 1 year ago
@SW4TR3PP1N the "golden era" of hip hop is actually referred to as both the 80's and 90's.
90's was better, however, technically speaking.
