I sincerely hope you're joking. Did Michael Jordan and Gary Payton defend power forwards and centers when they won the award? Did Duncan and Hakeem defend point guards and shooting guards? That's ludicrous. Why would you ever want your best defender to defend someone out of position? Dwight's the best defender in the league hands down, and it really isn't close.

@IOYB that may be true if ure talking about defending them for the game. what im saying is, dwight should have tried to block ray allen, even if for that brief moment, meant that he had to leave his man to a much smaller guy. being the "best" defender in the league, he should realize that it was ray allen with the ball, and leaving ray open is basically suicide. and its also basic defence that u switch players if the pick is good. never leave a man open.

Dwight can't be blamed for Richardson's bad defense. That would be an awful switch. Ray Allen could easily take him off the dribble, and Richardson on KG is an automatic basket waiting to happen. At any rate, chastising Dwight and calling into question his defensive ability because of ONE play where he did what he was supposed to do (stick to his man), is ridiculous. Defensive greats from the past (Hakeem/Russell/Kareem) would have done the same exact thing.

@IOYB yes. but u must remember that its a close game. giving up a sure 2 points is way better than giving up 3 points. and i doubt ray could easily take dwight off the dribble. dwight is too athletic for a big guy. even so, that would mean giving up 2 points as well, not 3.
