THANK YOU for posting this. As much as I like James Taylor's material, Linda's version of this song is a CLASSIC and has always been top a favorite of mine. . Her voice is heavenly,. Also, not to harsh anyone's mellow', if you haven't already heard, Andrew Gold checked out about a month ago. RIP
when i was a baby (born 1989), i was put to bed every night to a cassette with this song on it. when the cassette wasn't around, my mom would sing it to me. i absolutely love this.
Same here. Though it was a different version. The tape I had, had a "good morning" side, and a "goodnight" side. Covers of "Morning has broken", Rise and shine", and "59th street bridge song" was also on there as well.
There is so much on this album (Heart Like a Wheel) to enjoy. I think one of the best photos ever taken of Linda Rondstadt graces the cover of this album.
Saintfu: I just wanted to thank you for posting this classic song. I have listend to Linda's rendition for thirty years, and it still haunts. Thank you for this!
I didn't have much vinyl when I was in college, but this album (Heart Like a Wheel) was among the collection. There's so much on the album that will make you cry, "Failthless Love" perhaps being the best example. When I went completely digital in my music collection, this album was one that survived the transition. You're right - she does an excellent job, here.
I checked out your page - I like what I see in your favorites. Based on what you listen to, I might suggest you check out Eva Cassidy on YouTube. Anything she did live at Blues Alley will make you cry, guaranteed.
My mom used to sing this to me and my sister. We ALWAYS CRIED. >_<; I didn't want to think about my mom dying when I was 7.

It's "The sun is surely sinking..." not "The sun is slowly sinking..." I guess it's ok to change J.T.'s lyrics???

Thank you, thank you. This song brings back both happy and sad memories for me. I listened to Heart Like a Wheel so much that I wore it out.

In my opinion, incomparable to James' version.
