Can an Asian Person tell me what Fish Sauce taste like to them the first time they tried it when they were younger? Because I myself do not recall anything of it tasting bad besides that it is salty.

@heartlessvietboy My first experience is by the smell that was really awful for me at that time. But, after I taste it, yes it is salty but....fish-fishy taste. Now I use Fish Sauce as a substitute of salt for various dishes :p

I actually don't even remember it was Salty. Can we sample a young population to see if Fish Sauce smells like Fish? Because Fish has a different smell. Natural Salt found in nature smells different doesn't it? What does Salt made at the Plant smell like?

Firstly, I have to apologize to all that feel offended by my post .

I have no prove whatsoever that garum history is older than neoc mam.

I assumed that since the Ancient Rome( founded 753 BC ) is older than Văn Lang(founded257 BC) so the roman food should be older than Vietnamese food.

However, I think the fish sauce is so common in any coastal culture. I don't see why any culture should claim to be the original inventor of fish sauce.

I may be wrong. I don't mean to up set anyone.
