  • Thanks for your help....

  • sorry can you plz help me I cant put shutter speed under 60 >?? why is that?

  • very awesome tutorial I really don't know much about slr cameras but I'm thinking of buying this one and a 50mm f1.8 lens cuz I really like editing videos and shutting pics I was wondering if you could make a tutorial on how to choose settings depending the pic you would like to take

  • @DaRkRoCk24 that hard to do because setting change so much depending on lighting

  • Hey I have a canon 550d and i dont have half the option you have when i click menu .. any tips

  • @colinleneghan5 move your dial to the M mode and then hit menu

  • very clear tutorial, 2 questions please:

1-if its in manual mode-how do i focus? in auto i can push the button down half way to focus, in manual it doesn't do it on it's own and it won't let me focus it manual, what am i missing?

2-would you know why when i played back a video i took i had lines going across it kinda like old tv sets? not that heavy and it came and went but it's never happened before.

    thanks for any info!

  • @designsbydevo You use you hand on the ring of the lens to focus. I dont know why you would be getting lines can you explain in more depth what is going or upload video so i may see it

  • hi i have a canon kiss x4 and i go on menu and i dont see the movie icon! i dont have a SD card in the camera and i dont know what the hells going on im really worried :/

  • @lordifrit1 wait i fixed it! :)

  • @lordifrit1 happy to hear that

  • @lordifrit1 You need to put sd card in camera to record video or take pictures the movie mode is on the dial on the top of the camera

  • my camera is bull shit! i have the canon kiss x4 and it doesnt have video mode! :O please help?

  • TY for sharing this

  • Does this work with Canon 600D (Rebel T3i)?

  • @HerraHQ t3i is pretty much the same way

  • @MediaUnlocked Ok thanks :D

  • @HerraHQ any time

  • Uhhh, that was worded backwards.

  • Your regular video was being shown as 1080p, but when you go to 60fps that drops it down to 720p. Does the loss in quality make up for the smoothness of the slow motioned clip?

  • this video was verry helpfull , i plann on getting a t2i pretty soon thanks.

  • @liamlazerflip happy I could help

  • very VERY good tutorial man!!!

    learned a lot!!

answered many of my questiones i had.

    thanks.

    (i subbed)

  • @ChilenosEnSuecia thank you very much

  • thanks!

  • @WorldOfMarvelous any time

  • thank you for this! I have a question, sometimes my dslr stops shooting videos automatically (like after 5 seconds of video) how do i change that? because it's starting to piss me off :P Sometimes it doesn't automatically stop but most of the time it does.

  • @dudeheight What kind of card do you have and what class is it. You need an sd card that is a class 8 or higher.

  • @dudeheight I had the same problem even though mine was a class 10 card. Go to settings/ menu then find the format button and press it and then your problem should be solved it worked for me :)

  • Helped a lot. Thanks!

  • @IAmMrVal happy I could help

  • So the shutter speed makes it lighter and darker, and the iso changes it. Wich is better to change if I'm shooting a dark scene. Also what's the f-stop doing?

  • @CadenBurleson Look up this video of mine 'How To Use and Understand Iso,Apature, and Shutter Speed'

  • @CadenBurleson The f stop adjusts the depth of field

  • thank you :) helped me to understand my 550d a lot :D

  • @tommakesvfx happy I could help

  • Hello, i just want to know what shutter speed do you recommend to get a look like a movie. Thanks!

  • @ricardoucr Look up this video of mine 'How To Use and Understand Iso,Apature, and Shutter Speed'

  • @ricardoucr Use a shutter speed twice that of the frames per second (if you shoot at 24fps, use around 1/48 or 1/50 shutter speed. If you shoot at 60fps, use something close to 1/120 shutter speed.

  • @TheMightyMagic Thanks, i just got the camera and im taking some shots to learn more about it, i just have another question. What happens if im on a sunny day, i want to leave the aperture high (f/1,8) but i cant go lower with the iso (100) and im having an overexposed? Is there another way? Thank you!

  • @ricardoucr Yes. Turn your shutter speed way up, which will make things much darker. Hope that helps!

  • Thank u!!!

  • @VertXGamingHD any time

  • my t2i has the video settings on 1920 30fps abut it wont record ?? how do i fix that

  • @thompsonwright What does the camera do when you push the red record button

  • thanks a ton man

  • Thanks I have a better understanding now

  • @coquiangel Happy I could help

  • why are only have in my canon eos 550 D in 720p only 50fps ?

  • @Lazyt07 Look this title up it will help you out HOW TO CHANGE YOUR CANON T2I CAMERA SETTING FROM PAL TO NTCS SO YOU CAN SHOOT

  • @Lazyt07 Press MENU, and click yourself all the way to the right, where you find LCD britness etc, and go down to Video System, press set and change it to NTCS ;)

  • Awesome Video! I just shot a snowboard/ski edit last night and wish I would have seen this prior to it!

Why would you want to shoot at 24fps rather than 50 or 60fps?

On my fisheye lens it only went to 50fps? Is it b/c its a fisheye lens?

    Thanks!

    - Jburg

  • @JBsGotThatEase 24p is the framerate for film. 50fps/60fps is usually for slowmotion shots. Can you usually go up to 60fps when you don't have a fisheye lens on? If you can't then you're camera is probably in the PAL video system. You can easily change this in your menu to NTSC which allows you to shoot in 60fps. Hope I helped! :)

  • @BnVFXProductionsHD Yes, I switched it NTSC, thank you!

  • @JBsGotThatEase Your welcome! Subscribe if you want some more help! I'm here to help anyone who's having trouble! :)

  • White chapel :D

  • Hey, do you know how to get 1920*1080 to record as long as the memory can hold? When i us 1920*1080, it only records for 3 seconds, no matter how much memory i have

  • @sycghy U need a faster card what class and size is your card

  • @MediaUnlocked Never mind, I got a 8 gb card and now it can record in 1920*1080. thanks anyway

  • @sycghy Any time man

  • Even though i'm in a well lit room and my shutter speed is at 50 its really dark unles my isos on 6400??

  • @NiallHornProductions Drop your shutter to 30 and what is your apature and what lens are you using

  • @MediaUnlocked how do i drop the ap? Using an 18-55mm but i wanna film some slow mo stufff and when i do it goes all dark when i turn the shutter to 1/400?

  • @NiallHornProductions To drop the apature you will need to hold down the AV button located on the upper right of the lcd screen and then use your dial at the front right of the camera

  • @NiallHornProductions Check your aperture. It will also get darker the higher you set it.

  • Thanks! I just bought this camera and this was a massive help!!!

  • @redcarpetinterview Happy I could help

  • BIG BIG help lol. ty

  • @crazycomic Thanks

  • great video mate, thanks a lot

  • @ldntwnfresh Thanks man

  • hello the higher the shutter speed there are red flashing horizontal lines? why

  • @pur3devil Is this when you are shooting video

  • I have tiny red horizontal line when shoot a video. In room lightning... is it a problem of lens or body ? canon 550d. lens: EF 50mm f/1.8. I just got my camera. Tiny red horizontal lines when shooting in a little low lite...

  • @HSYNLI Could you email mail me a picture of what it looks like to mediaunlocked101@gmail.com

  • @MediaUnlocked watch?v=-5p6T3mK2iQ test video. pls read the description. there is a little more information.

    Thanks

  • @HSYNLI try to make the ISO lower

  • THANKS SO MUCH! HUUUUGE HELP!!!

  • Real great video. Specially I was wondering, how to change aperture in manual settings. For a while I found that info nowhere, I was in doubt, if it is even possible :-p coz mine was set on 5.6 with my kit lens. 18-55. Anyways, its great, your video made it clear.

    Thanks a bunch.

  • @khu0084 Hold down the Av button on the upper right of the lcd screen and use your dial or wheel in the front at the same time

  • @MediaUnlocked I meant to say that I have already learned this from your this video.

Thanks, Keep the stuff Up :-)

  • @khu0084 oh sorry thanks

  • Or is it because it's HDMI and I'm using 16GB that's why it can't record right

  • @dan1234mc ?

  • I have a 16gb memory card, and I'm so annoyed that my video only lasts like 16 seconds

  • @dan1234mc its because your memory card is below a class 6. To record video fluently it has to be class 6 or higher

  • thanks! helpful for new users :)

  • @CPChipchip happy I could help

  • Whitechapel sucks

  • thank you helped me alot

  • @TYLORHOLLENBECK Happy I could help

  • Thanks! This has been helpful. :)

  • @doublehelixes Happy could help

  • I think when you search for "180 degree shutter" you get a better result. ; )

  • This tutorial is alright for someone really just starting out, but if you're really after a film-like movie look into other tutorials that cover the 180degree rule (FPS/shutter speed correlation), setting your cam to 25fps, install Technicolor CineStyle Profile, and if you wanna go even further run the MagicLantern Firmware.

    Just google:

    180 degree rule

    Technicolor CineStyle

    MagicLantern

    : )

  • @marcoboerner i have iMAC how do i install magiclantern?

  • Respond to this video... If you look at my newest video it explains how to install ml

  • @marcoboerner Very true man I was just trying to teach the basics first

  • what is one of the most reasonable priced lens to use for NIGHT shots (VIDEO)?? response would be highly appreciated.

  • @grind24seven canon 50m 1.8 or 1.4 Tamron 28-75mm 2.8

  • @MediaUnlocked NICE, THAT SHOULD HELP WITH MY NEW VIDEOS!!

  • @grind24seven Happy to hear it good luck!!!

  • K heres a question: Class 10 16G Wintec recording automatically stopped after approx 10 minutes (give or take), any idea why? Ijust switched to the class 10 from a class 6 thinking that would solve the problem. No such luck.

  • @JewManFew The canon cameras can only shoot 12 minutes at a time due to the fact that they will over heat.

  • @MediaUnlocked Kool, thanx a lot.

  • @JewManFew any time

  • @JewManFew any time

  • That was a big help, I had no idea the manual feature existed and I have had the camera for almost 8 months. I never had a reason to learn the movie mode side of it, I bought it for picture taking. I have recently gained interest in the movie making aspect of the camera and again, this was a big help. I may hit you up for more info in the near future. Thanx for the upload.

  • White Chapel is insane.

  • i have a problem with mw 600d slr i dont know why evrytime i take a video in outdoor it will stop automatically only when i take a video outside but if i take in a room or indoor the video takes more than 10 or maybe 20 minutes anybody knows what should i do with my cam??

  • No card in camera

  • thank you so much

  • @chazbaetj happy I could help

  • In closing. Depending on the situation you will move those around and make them even each other out. If you want to shoot something fast. You need a fast shutter speed..something dark...a higher ISO and a big opened eye (aperature)

  • Lastly, ISO is film speed. Just remember when you bought film for your old cameras. 100 was for outdoor but to shoot indoor you needed 400 or 800 but the higher you got, the more pixelated it got. Since digital, no need for film. So imagine the cameras sensor is the film. 100 still for outdoors and sunny days, but if you are in the dark, you need to bump it up to 1600 or 3200.

  • @themacbookone Imagine aperature is size of your eye. If you open your eye bigger you will see more light..open your eye smaller you'll see less light. Lower number more light (3.5) higher number (22) less light. Your shutter speed is how fast you blink your eye. The faster you blink, the less light you will let in. The slower you blink, the more light you let in. Stick a one on top of the number and that is how much of a second it takes to close your eye.

  • Hey on the camera there is a flash button you showed before in a tutorial..then under it is a button to release the lens..but whats the little button under that for? In video mode can you move your ..hmm..what is that called you have the -2 to +2. I notice in movie mode this changes by itself. Is this normal? Can you make that manual too?

  • @TekCloud any time

  • thanks a lot!!

  • @yougreentuber any time man

  • @WeeklyTweek Happy I could help

  • Thank You !

  • The part on the lcd screen that says "-2..1....1..+2" what's it do?

  • @devilmaycare5 At what time in the video was that

  • @MediaUnlocked next to the apeture the whole time on the camera

  • @MrMonster68 That has to do with your lighting over exposing or under exposing

  • what lenses found you recommend for video?

  • Thanks dude, i'm planning on getting a t2i and these tutorials have really helped prepare me to use it out of the box! This camera is going to be perfect for me needs!

  • @cjdog23 Happy to hear that

  • When i film with my camera ( i got canon eos 550d ) it just stops. How do i make if film longer?

  • @martheesi 12 minutes is the max u can film at one time on the canons just stop and start for another 12 minutes

  • @MediaUnlocked.. it says movie recording has been stopped automatically..after shooting for less than a min. so what should i do to shoot the movie longer?

  • @4givenz What kind of card are you using and what is the speed. The camera does that due to the fact that more information is being put on the card then it can handel.

  • @MediaUnlocked its San Disk SDHC Card ..and it's 16 gb.

  • @martheesi canon recommend a class 6 SD card or above. i had the same issue but not i have a new SD card from san disk and its really good and no issue what so ever. hope that helps.

  • @martheesi you can get one from ebay brand new for around 14 pound probably be able find a class 10 for the same price is your lucky, i saw one while i was searching for my class 6

  • I learned alot from this video! Thanks man!

Keep up the good work with tutorial videos like this!

  • @Keeroy1234 Happy I could help man

  • @RyanFilmsBapf It's not about the brand, but about the speed of the card. You should buy a 6 or higher speed card.

  • Good vid!! I actually learned a lot. But I see that your T2i went up to 60fps. Mine only goes to 50fps?? Is there a way to change this? Thanks.

  • @randybarrera I have a video explaing how to change your from 50fps to 60fps

  • Your video was very helpful to me, thank you so much!

  • @RyanFilmsBapf Yes that sd card should fix the problem

  • @RyanFilmsBapf Transcend or sandisk

  • I dont know if you have already made a tutorial on how to do rack focus, i know you briefly talked about it, but is it possible to do a tutorial on how to do it on the t2i, without the magic lantern software?

  • @yeahOKent Good idea man I will ad this to the list man

  • Hi thanks for this tutorial I found it to be one of the best.
