@KingFishGuy - Right because the "1" hog fish I shot really puts a dent on your fish population. Maybe your state government needs to have stricter regulations......... yee buddy. Or maybe they should punish all the poachers out there. Just in the few days I was down there, I saw several people coming out of the water with loads of fish - undersize and not on the spearing list.
@whopperhead yeah they should, exactly, and maybe not youre one hog fish but like you said, when a bunch of people are taking small fish you better bet the population will decline, these fish use to be as common as parrot fish 15 years ago...
i just started spearfishing a few days ago and im lookin for a new place to spearfish, i swim at the hillsboro inlet, and trying to find something close to shore, can anyone help??
@coldriver21 goto spearfishingplanet. com there are forums where you can meet people and other divers in your area. spearfishingplanet is probably the most popular site used down in florida. that or spearboard. com
i ushually go off the galt ocean mile and swim out maybe 100 yards and get little hogs.just woundering exactly where you went off of and how far you swam out because the reef i go to is so close to where you go but looks so different.thanks!!
anyone know of some good spots off ft laud or miami? 15-25ft deep? moving there from key west. also for tank diving/ speari fishing, what are some good deeper ones like around 60 ft up there.
@dizzydup You can spear at hollywood and hallendale just cant branish your gun....DO NOT walk on to the state park grounds north of Dania pier you can get a ticket for it only north of the pier about 50 yards until the park starts...you have to swim out to the reef/jax.
ur allowed to shoot grouper?.. we can't do that in australia cause of how they generally just a curious type of fish and to easy to spear.. guess cause spearos nearly wiped them out back in the day
In FLORIDA you can- The one That I shot I had actually hunted for 2 days- It was really hard to get a shot and it took me over 1/2 hour to get him out from underneath some Pilans
I live in Stuart, I could really use a pointer as to which beach you were at, because i can't shoot jack shit from the beaches i'm at in the Treasure Coast area
Sick vid. Keep up the good work. I live in Ft. Lauderdale and was out on the 2nd reef, north of comercial pier if you know where that is. Got a couple hogs, it was fun..
ever seen them trigger fish? i've seen these very very long ones and there very very skinny i think there file fish...but anyways i sent out a bait and let it come close to the boat....i free gafted it's ass :D
I did see file fish. I also saw Trigger Fish. I didn't shoot either one- not sure if you can file- but maybe, I have no idea. My main focus was Hog Fish and Grouper. I was also keeping an eye out for Sharks :D
I agree- It was the 1st HOG I had ever seen. I didn't even get to put it on the stringer. While I was pulling up my line a bunch of Trigger (I believe) ambushed it and took off with it. Bastards. I could of shot others that small, but let them go and got the 2nd one as I was heading back in to shore. Definitely a Great experience would love to go back and try again.
I was using a HammerHead 75cm and Chris was using a OMER 90cm. It is a great spot I had alot of fun just seeing it all. I just wish I had more time down there.
hi , i recommend you guys to try another spots that there are no people and no boating cause that area look´s like quite dead to me ,regards from Peru , Fred.
I'm going to Fort Lauderdale this winter.

What dumb*** posts a video of himself online shooting baby hogs? Really makes me sick. Hope FWC would be able to find this video.
rdg05 7 months ago
@rdg05 - All hogs were of legal size. Be a hero and send this video to the FWC. I just can't wait to come back down there and shoot more :-D

Yeah man, I go out off Ft L and Hollywood all the time... Have you ever heard of the EroJacks? Awesome spot... Lots of Hogs off Hallandale as well
CollegeIzFun 2 years ago
@CollegeIzFun Where on hallendale? is there a reef infront of there somewhere?
spearohemingway 1 month ago
Two reefs span much of the coast of southeast Florida.
A few good spots:
Lauderdale by the sea, a couple hundred yards south of the pier.(where this video is shot)
Dania beach 'euro jacks', a few hundred yards north of the pier.(you need to enter and exit the water just north of the pier to be legal)
Hollywood beach, straight out from north park.(not sure if spearfishing is allowed here)
Hallandale beach, straight out from the Beach Club.(not sure if spearfishing is allowed here)
