Nice to see Stevie doing this underrated classic. I saw him 20 yrs ago at the Worcester Centrum and he didn't play it. I'm still disappointed to this day. The girl I was with, I wanted to marry and she said NO !! (that changed my life in a bad way)
gaspo218, that's too bad my man.... seen him 3 times in uk - he did ribbon in the sky for about 10 mins in birmingham last year. my favourite stevie number - the first song we danced to on our wedding night... changed my life too... This golden lady version is awesome toooooo!!!
The best song in the show in my book, but maybe it's because it's my favorite of his. Notice the sweet, but understated organ solo. The monitor showed the chick keyboardist, but the solo was by a guy named Daryl Jackson (far stage right) I believe. You could tell that even the band loved the groove this song has and dug playing it.
i did!!! and i ended up going with people i didn't even plan on going with; and come to find out we knew some of the same people... it was their first time seeing him, and it was my third... so amazing... the GREATEST ARTIST TO EVER EXIST AMONG US!!! he did in fact perform this song...
oh yeah, he performed both songs, but put the ubiquitous STEVIE sex joke all over them... hee hee... such a cheeky man... all three times i saw him, he did the sex jokes (not the same ones, either...) did he do that with you, CB? such an amazing show he always puts on... then he adds a lot of social commentary. such a balanced, wonderful being...
What was the Stevie sex joke? I saw him in Vegas and Prince came out and surprised everyone by groovin with Stevie-I saw him when he was 13 he was with the motown revue and it costs us 1.75 to get in at the Fox Theater in Detroit, boy what a difference 40 years makes huh? He is still captivating after all these years-glad you enjoyed the show-
hee hee... he was making orgasmic sounds while he was singing golden lady, and then before he did ribbon in the sky he was making comments about making babies to his music... he's made other jokes the other times i've seen him too. prince came out with stevie last year when he was at madison square garden. i'm sure that was fun! wow, you saw him at 13??!! you can write some histories, i'm sure!!! the chitlin' circuit, too... wow... amazing.
Stevie you are amazing!!! he sings all his songs better live than on record he has the voice of an angel, this tune is so hard to come by live, fantastic
Oh yes yes loving the Hardaway's.One beautiful Moma gonna have kids like that.R.I.P. Gene Hardaway my brother

stevie is a beast. my man still sounds GREAT after so many years. He's taking really good care of himself.
in other news, the golden lady bass line is still eluding me.
