sorry if i kicked off a bit about a remake about 'brighton rock'; its just that it's one of my favourite films, and i come from brighton (but stuck in swansea for the last 5 years doing a ph.d). a remake would be cool if it has sharply dressed mods on scooters and fit looking girls, so i'll give it the benefit of the doubt. again, sorry if i over-reacted!
No probs mate. Don't know about sharp looking mods. Most of the Mods were in their 40's. There isn't many 18 year olds with original lambrettas and Vespas. There was some nice younger Modette extras though! I think the film is due for release in Spring this year. I've searched Google for a release date and can't find anything yet.

They are nice it's true. However that in itself is not very accurate. If you look at the Mods book, with pictures from 64, most of the scooters look a bit tatty! From what i can see, in this film the scooters all look like they've just rolled out the showroom...
Look dont get me wrong scooters I ride a 1956 LD150 MK 11 its just all the lights and mirrors and union jack seat covers, parkas with badges all over them targets and stuff. Well it just seems a bit creepy when there a middle age men involved. Mod is for the young thats what gives it its raw untamed energy. This is just dressing up like what people do at those reenactments.

@jonathon1970 You can still be a mod at 30+, 40+. However, you MUST stay fit, keep yourself in great physical shape -exercise, eat healthy, stay active- and continue looking sharp. Secondly, always remember Pete's lyrics in My Generation, "I Hope I Die Before I Get Old" meaning: keep your mind fresh & new and never let your spirit grow old. Personally, I believe mods with a family & kids isn't a mod at all. Mod is 24 hrs, 7 days a week. Once every event or a weekend doesn't cut it.

I mean I just find it really weird to see a bald 50 year old on a scooter with lights and mirrors, with a parka on with badges and targets all over it. I mean that is just comedy mod.
@jonathon1970 I understand your frustration. You're not alone. The symbolized mod garbage (union jacks & target badges) is the reason why I'm not a mod anymore. Too commercial. I was always fascinated with the mods from 59-64, before the swinging 60's, pop art period. The video was a bad remake of mods from 1964. Some of the fashion was either one, two yrs late or a decade earlier. A few of them look like normal scooter people. The modettes had more of a 65, 66, 67 look.
@jonathon1970 Secondly, I agree with you, the clothing, dressing smart and taste in style is what mod is all about. Finding your own individual style, standing out from the rest is key.
Well, it's not really a REMAKE, it's a new adaptation of the book. The term "remake" applies usually to films based on films with an original screenplay :).
Not that many Scooters at the Mod do's now. Did fancy Brighton this year instead of IOW, glad I didn't as apparently there was only a few scoots. Bit of a one off this one, couldn't believe how many oldies were there! I'm 38 and was about in the middle. Absolutely great day though, hope they don't photoshop all us oldies out.
my dad's in this he is right at the front at 2:29. black hair, beige coat. he was also in Quadrophiena when he was 16 and spoke to chalky while filming this.

Me, I liked both Mods and Rockers, the rockers had great English bikes and Mods cool Italian machines and both enjoyed damn fine music.
