  • with this video .... I just want to have that telecaster plus !!! T.T

  • that Go To Sleep performance did indeed blow mind mind through my cousin's living room roof. i never heard anything like that before :)

  • WTF!!!!!???? WHAT ABOUT JUST??? that is by far the best solo by him EVER

  • Lol at all the fucking idiots comparing Bellamy and Greenwood. They're both amazing musicians and are definately 2 of the greatest active musicians at the moment.

  • Frusciante and Greenwood. Probably the two most amazing guitarists, songwriters and musicians of the last 20 years, and anyone who knows them beyond ''Snow'' or ''Karma Police'' will surely agree.

  • I hate you, you hate me, Jonny hates me. This is fucking YouTube! I suck, you suck, Jonny sucks. Fuck you.

  • this is a good video

  • 0:45 I thought inmediately when I saw Thom wearing that: "Hope he would never wear something like this again!"

  • Johnny Marr n Jonny Greenwood!!

  • Damn! Go to sleep

  • I love how much he just rocks the fuck out.

  • Its funny to see how back in the day Jonny used to be the cool to Thom's strange. And to all the people arguing over whether he's the best guitarist ever - I think we can all agree that Jonny is the best ondes martenot player of all time.

  • As a musician he is better than anybody but Jonny is certainly not the best guitarist ever, not even Top 5.That is a good thing though because he will just never get bored of any instrument he plays (including the lemon :D )He is very skilled with the instrument and I am pretty sure we haven't seen his technical maximum on the instrument

  • personally i'd put Greenwood ahead of Richards, ahead of Santana. I'd put him with Hendrix, Clapton, Petrucci, Page, Gates, Bellamy, Vaughan, Cheney. I'd put him in the best of all time

  • where's just?

  • My God Johnny is an incredible guitarist. I can't think of a guitarist who punctuates music the way he does, whether through a solo, background textures, or creating other worldly tones with a friggin quarter.

  • bellamy is great, jonny is god. whose better you ask?

  • johnny greenwood fucking best ever

  • Johnny Greenwood <3

  • So sad they didn't put Green Plastic Tress from the 2003 concert in here...

  • Kurt cobain is alive :D 8:11

  • 62% voters,,

choose Greenwood,, as A contemporary style of playing guitar,, and one of the most influence guitarist,,, even better than Richards

  • Who the fuck compares Matt Bellamy to anyone? He's pretty awful as a guitarist but a great pianist in the contemporary field for sure

  • The Go to Sleep solo is just amazing

  • what show are they playing in maquiladora?

  • @luizspindolaFS

    Astoria 1994.

  • jonny is the sickest most innovative guitarist in music today, so much cooler than wylde, mayer or any of the guitar players that fanboys seem to love

  • lol thom at 2:41 XD

  • the reason i play the guitar.

  • Oh my god that go to sleep solo looks impossible

  • watch you niggas now about making a seperate tab so not to stop Mr. Grenwoods geniousness *didnt even spell that right*XD

  • can any one please give me amp settings for his solos.......i have a marshall amp

  • just on guitar.. I'm gunna have to pick fru. sure he has a similar style to hendrix, but thats what he grew up on.

but greenwood is a better musician i think. i mean he composed there will be blood which was an amazing score

  • you?

  • i want his hair....

  • Comment removed

  • @AwesomeBuddy12 I know.. I know, BTW, good cover of Big Sur Moon

  • does anybody know what type and what size of pick Jonny uses?

  • Apples and Oranges! Everyone has their own style/vibe so it's fruitless to compare. Also, Jonny has no real interests in soloing whatsoever or we would have heard more from him esp. from The Bends/Ok Computer era as those two were the perfect vehicle for Jonny solos but it's not to be. Radiohead's music was never built around the lead guitar (and solos) anyway but I'm pretty sure if Jonny wanted to, he could easily create intricate guitar solos just as easily as writing a score for a film.

  • jonny greenwood should collab with skrillex.. people who hate skrillex- relax. it would actually be interesting..

  • @asiachan21 also, jonny plays paranoid android much better on the jools holland performance :D

  • oooooooo dje"s ba rukfash shta mai?

  • If a guitarrist can play solos like a god... (like most guitarrist) then he's awesome.... as the same as everyone else that can play solos as a god... k?

  • 5:50 :o

  • my face has melted

  • Fuck matt bellamy.

  • Ok. So like the past 8 pages of comments are just you guys bitching about who's a "better" guitarist; Jonny vs. Bellamy vs. Frusciante etc. These guys are all amazing musicians and I'm sure that they don't give a shit about who's better anymore than I do. Everyone has their own opinion so there pretty much isn't a right or wrong. Lets just not be douches and all get along k?;)

  • @AwesomeBuddy12: Couldn't have said it better, anyways u can't really compare guitarists when they have such drastically different playing styles altogether. I'd rather bring guitarists together than pitt them against each other. I don't know about anyone else but I'd love to see Jonny Greenwood and John Frusciante collaborate, I'd soil myself if that happened. In fact, I'd club a baby seal to make that a reality (joke) :)

  • @AwesomeBuddy12 I feel like this is the only logical and thought out comment on this video

  • @AwesomeBuddy12 yeeaaaa Bellamy's argument came from me...sorry about that...and i agree with everything you said. i want to add that atheres no way any guitarist is going to be better than another because we all have our own styles. we should only worry about becoming better than ourselves, and thats life's true challenge :)

  • Dont compare Greenwood to Bellamy to Frusciante to Cobain too anyone. It's like asking a mother for her most favorite child.

  • Jonny is just legendary...I mean who else gets a repetitive strain injury because of their "aggressive" way of playing the guitar

  • van halen, greenwood, hendrix, santana, frusciante, etc. ... They are gods and their styles are their religions. And that's all.

  • @FleaFlyCze

IMO he plays too similar to Hendrix. Greenwood has his own unique style.

  • @gavinellis

    dont be gay

  • @gavinellis An opinion can't be 'wrong', idiot.

  • @PractitionersAlex I support what you're trying to say, but your statement is incorrect.

Opinions can be wrong; someones opinion could be that the Sun orbits Earth.

  • @SiMoN6873 That's denying a fact though, it isn't an opinionative matter.

  • @PractitionersAlex

Yeah, in terms of musical taste opinions can't be wrong.

  • @gavinellis ha.. hahahha... you obviously know nothing. if you know anything about music you would know jonny greenwood is a frickin innovator when he picks up a guitar, or sits at a piano. so. how does it feel to know nothing about music?

  • @AwesomeBuddy12 You obviously ignore vast areas of his solo projects and the last 3 or 4 RHCP albums. That said I love both Jonny and John immensely, but saying that he plays too similar to Hendrix means either you havent listened to anything he did after 1989 or you just saw a couple of out of context solos on youtube where he deliberately indulges in hendrix style. Check out his solo works and some live performances for mindblowing guitar playing

  • @AwesomeBuddy12 John Frusciante has his own unique style as well. Otherwise, he wouldn't be as praised or recognized for it. To be fair though, it is tough to comapre the two because they each have UNIQUE styles of play that are instantly recognizable amongst listeners. Not one of them is better than the other. That goes for you as well @FleaFlyCze

  • @AwesomeBuddy12 He actually plays very much like John McGeoch.

  • Guitar hero was inspired by Jonny Greenwood.

  • Happy Birthday Jonny!

  • Happy birthday Jonny (you're 1 year younger :D)

  • happy birthday jonny

  • Happy Birthday Jonny!

  • Happy 40th Birthday, Jonny. love you:)

  • HAPPY BIRTHDAY JONNY !

  • i wonder if Nirvana had some influence on the Early Radiohead stuffs (Pablo Honey to Ok Computer)

  • @PochoProfeta145 are you shitting me?, its fuck all like Nirvana, especially OK Computer

  • At 8:10 Thom looks like a British Kurt Cobain. Just a little bit. :P

  • @TheGOODMUSICADDICTED i had no idea that Muse's gossip was bad...and i respect Jonny too, but i dont think thathe was always Matt fav guitarist. he started playing guitar after he saw a Jimi Hendrix vid of him dstroying his guitar..but Jonny was a big influence on him, of course...no Radiohead comparisons please :D :D :D we all know about THEM ;)

  • What is so special about these solo's? It's incredbly mediocre... Is it a technique I don't know about? A feeling I can't get into? Don't mistake me for a hater, I actually listen tot some of Radiohead's music, but I don't get why this is so awesome. For the exact same reason I think John Fruciante and Adam Jones are overrated... (And I actually am a fan of tool, but I still think they're overrated.)

  • @Redspy27 Don't throw around the overrated word. Music is subjective, and if you don't catch the feeling, the context, the groove or the beauty of some kind of music its perfectly fine. There is so much music like jazz that I cannot say I understand, however I would never go and say something dire like "Jazz is overrated". That said, IMO Frusciante, Jones, Greenwood and Rodriguez lopez are the most brilliant guitarists out there.

  • Wow, grew up loving this band. Well, I loved The Bends and OK Computer. Can't believe I used to think this guy could play? Wow he is terrible. Guess after discovering to Jake E. Lee its hard to listen to anyone else.

  • @koalajones88 lol have you seen Blur's No Distance left to Run...thats my shit!!!

  • Why argue? Matt Bellamy and Jonny Greenwood are both amazing, different in thier own ways, they're different, cant really be compared

  • His awesomeness has no boundaries

  • But imho, his best solo is from High N Dry

  • He is not bad, isn't he?))))

  • Jonny, un genio de la guitarra!!!! maestro!!!

  • Comment removed

  • @svendavidsson "weigh" better? seriously?

  • 5:58 - 6:34 holy shit! aliens having sex

  • All of this mess about guitarists, yet no one mentions Jeff Buckley??? Really??? He's quite awesome.

  • Greenwood>Bellamy nuff said.

  • No matter how the Radiohead song is titled. Not everyone can play the guitar as Jonny does.

  • Jonny played some weird stuff on Hail to the Thief...

  • 5:50 Mother of God

  • When someone makes a list of favourites it is their personal opinion that you do not need to share. They are not saying whomever is the best, just who they enjoy the most.

  • what about Duane Eddy, Jimmy Page, Jimi Hendrix? Come on!!! Johnny's good, but some of you are a bunch of tossers

  • 0:06-0:27

  • jonny is like a caged monster

  • @TheDemarius

    Matt Bellamy...noel gallagher....HAHA!

  • @AwesomeBuddy12 lol whats wrong with them???

  • @AwesomeBuddy12 Liking Jonny Greenwood doesn't give you the right to laugh at Matt Bellamy. Genious can apreciate other genious and know one when they see one. That's why you aren't a genious.

  • @AwesomeBuddy12 its annoying radiohead fans like you that judge everybody else under radiohead as shit really dumb. PS no1 gives a shit about your band so take down the annoying ads.

  • @TheDemarius What about Thurston Moore of Sonic Youth?

  • @TheDemarius

Kurt was a star but doesn't compare guitar wise. Gallagher writes great tunes but seriously, his guitar playing sucks massive cock. Bellamy rocks, but takes all his inspiration from jonny, Van Halen should not come anywhere near this list, he can play, but in a bland American wanker type of way. Coxon is the only contender for Jonny's crown.

  • @TheDemarius kurt cobain?? how did he make your top 7?

  • @juniwilliams oh...i dont know...now that it comes to it...how DID he make it??? haha maybe he could be replaced with Rivers Cuomo: he IS a good guitarist :)

  • Its such a shame King Of Limbs didn't have any Jonny awesomeness. Well maybe Morning MrMagpie but thats it.

  • @basisti94

Watch "Feral Live from the Basement" its pretty intense.

  • thom wearing a raincoat hahaha thats the funniest thing ive ever seen

  • there are some kick ass old school songs in this mix. 'oh banana co....everything's burning down...." man that brings back memories.

  • @goodgodyou I don't prefer one over the other. I like Both. He sounds great in the Studio and He sounds great Live while doing awesome shit live. What more could you ask of a Musician?

  • @goodgodyou What the hell do you mean Replicating the Effects? Do you seriously want every song to be "Note-for-note?" Please, dude. Watch Maybe a Couple of Videos from HAARP. The reason he runs around on stage and Jumps is BECAUSE He's Feeling the emotion. I don't think people just run and jump for no reason....Yes, it's a Visual spectacle to see a guitarist doing that, but What I'm saying is He's Full of Emotion. Matt pours out Pure Soul through His Mansons.

  • @goodgodyou I agree with you on the Showmanship But I think Matt Balances both equally. He would be showing off if he payed more attention to His running around rather than his overall playing and singing. But since he can do Both Run around, Have a clear voice, AND Play Amazing, often Improvising his own solos and making them sound better than the studio versions defintely Earns a golden Star on My Book. Now if just Jumped around but his playing sucked, you'd be right.

  • go to sleep is the cooles thing ever...

  • The only thing scarier than Jonny going psycho at the end of 'Go to Sleep' is the skintight red jeans that Thom's wearing during 'Paranoid Android'.

  • Solo in Paranoid Android is soooo adorable ^_^

  • @WavieCassiopeia I'm not sure adorable is the best word to describe that solo.

  • Jonny once fingered a girl. She didn't live.

  • @ambskater97

No. Buckethead did that. Lad, you need to get your facts straight. lolololol

  • @AwesomeBuddy12 He "Nottingham laced" her xD

  • @ambskater97 LOL WTF TOO FUNNY

  • @ambskater97 What about his wife?

  • @ambskater97 How original

  • @MUSICISTHELIFE90 haha no not Rolling Stones the ROLLING STONE you know, the magazine. It has published lots of top lists, and both Jonny and Ed are in the list of best guitarrists of all time , and actually, they're before David Gilmour. but neither Matt or Slash are in it xD ( slash is still better, though)

  • Jonny Greenwood is the most creative guitarist alive.

  • @MUSICISTHELIFE90 Matt better than Jimi Hendrix and Eric Clapton? bwahahahahahaha dude where did you find that list?? Matt Bellamy isn't at the Rolling stone list, yet, he's more overrated that Slash. hell, even my guitar teacher is better than him!!! and Matt actually admires Jonny.

  • @MUSICISTHELIFE90

    neither did Radiohead

    read about Creep's history

  • @portnjazhka

Wtf are you talking about lol

  • @AwesomeBuddy12 oh

so you don't really know. do ya?

check then Albert Hammond The air that I breathe. They only wrote lyrics, but they took his melody

Radiohead did put a copyright sign when they released Creep and they do pay Hammond royalty

    and yes - lol

  • @portnjazhka

yeah but that has nothing do with anything we're talking about lad

  • He plays hist guitar like it's his worst enemy.

  • whad did he use during house of chards??or what did he do?

  • @mestayno

Watch my other video..."House of Cards Cover (Jonny's Part)"

  • @mestayno He uses a coin rubbed on the strings. Depending on the frequency of the coin, where on the fretboard it's used, and what fret is being held, he produces various harmonics.

  • @rockon6191 thanks a lot man !

  • @mestayno I think he used a coin :D

  • @mestayno just scratched the string eith his pick

  • Comment removed

  • @mestayno

He used a coin. Watch my cover.

  • When it goes to Paranoid Android, I feel like I'm on an acid trip on the broken fast-forward button. *_*

  • @MUSICISTHELIFE90

Muse only puts half as much effort into their songs as Radiohead does. Muse will probably NEVER write a song like "Paranoid Android" or "How to Disappear Completely". And the reason why Muse is more popular nowadays is because their music is more mainstream and "in the style". And of course, they are much younger and better looking which gives them an advantage. Radiohead's music is considered ART, Muse's isn't.

  • @AwesomeBuddy12 You're totally wrong and a fanboy. You probably haven't even listened to any work of muse.

  • @MUSICISTHELIFE90 muse really arent more popular

  • hey, great compilation, and can you please tell me where did you get those '97/'98 concert videos?

    Cheers

  • @runlikehell73

    Which ones in particular?;)

  • @runlikehell73 The Tourist, Airbag and Electioneering, it seems to me that that ones(older ones), from Ok Computer era are really rare, as a matter of fact, I can't find them(full concert videos) anywhere

  • @MUSICISTHELIFE90

Jonny is and has always been one of Matt's favorite guitarists! IMO Bellamy isnt really special at all. Sure he can play fast, but whatever happened to making music and actually having soul in playing? That's what makes Jonny a better guitar player than Bellamy. Having soul and not just trying to show off. I dont think he'll ever learn. XD

  • @AwesomeBuddy12 What do you mean no soul? You ever heard one of Matt's solo's?

Dude, the Emotion that guy puts into playing...You don't see Jonny Wearing Addidas Cleats and Jumping and running around the stage. Matt's emotion is amazing, and as for the "He plays fast", What do you think he is? a Metal head? Most of their songs aren't all that fast. Please, don't Bash On one of the Greatest Guitarists in the Last Decade. Go Listen to Darkshines or Fury.

  • @AwesomeBuddy12 he's not the best, but he certainly is impressive. Especially when you take into consideration how he compliments his guitar playing with his vocal prowess. I wouldn't say he shows off, but you have to understand that he's the bloody front man and lead guitarist of the band. Some level of showing off is almost demanded, especially live.

  • @AwesomeBuddy12 yeah, Bellamy its only speed

  • @AwesomeBuddy12 wow he does the flashy stuff so he doesnt have soul? im pretty sure that if Jonny does the same flashy stuff that you would be saying the same shit about him. did you forget all about Angus Young? obviously you did. the duckwalk is legendeary, and so is Matt's spin that he does during Plug in Baby..im not trying to defend my fav guitarist over greenwood (theyre both amazing) but i forgot that im in RADIOHEAD TERITORY and also that Muse v Radiohead battles still must be alive!!!

  • I get really excited when I hear him kicking into a solo. It's like, you know it's going to happen.

  • go to sleep ._.

  • Wow that is so wierd, I made a montage with almost the exact same clips. Only I didn't have backdrafts or faithless the wonder boy. I never uploaded it because the different file types and quality meant it came out rubbish, what program did you use.

The only other clip that would be great to have in here would be the solo from polyethalene, his greatest bit of shredding.

  • @thisisthegloaming

Oh, cool story haha. I used iMovie.

  • I wish that guitar was my lady parts.

  • @hyfroC :))

  • i'm feelin hot and flustered

  • he explores the guitar to the max dude, seriously though my fave vid on youtube

  • @lilfunker86

    Thanks bro

  • Which concert is the clip of The Tourist (around 1:00) from?

  • @mossyfawn

    NYC 1997

  • One of the most underrated guitarists ever to play pop music. Hell, one of the most underrated and overlooked musicians in the world. His abilities with electronic instruments and his ability to create great scores (see There Will Be Blood) are almost as intense as his skills on the guitar. I don't even want to know what it would be like to work with Jonny Greenwood, it would probably make you feel like you've wasted your life.

  • Oh wow, I get goosebumps at 1:01 I kinda miss THAT Radiohead. OK Computer changed the way I listened to music forever.

  • @Technokkenzu

    me too - unashamedly!

  • Why hasn´t Thom Yorke used the same suit from the (nice dream) section of the vid again?
