a quick easy test is to apply vaccum into the egr and see if the engine reacts. if it does then ur looking at something not activating the valve (solenod or vaccum lines) in case it dosent the ur looking at eather the valve or the passages ways on the egr.
I replaced the egr valve as well, but the p0401 code still comes on. I guess i have to clean the intake manifold and we'll see what happens. Thanks for the tip!

check the PDFD sensor on ford.

i have a 2004 chevy impala and I have that code, I bought a new EGR Valve and the code remains so I clean the intake manifold right?
