Article 1 Section 8 of the US Constitution is where the Congress gets the authority for an army during times of war. And when a proper and constitutional declaration of war has been issued, then the president temporarily become the Comm in Chief of the armed forces, as outlined under Article 2.
Health care is not mentioned in Art 1 sec 8, therefore congress can have no lawful jurisdiction in the matter. Especially see the now popular 10th Ammendment.

Please reference the specific Article, section and clause of the constitution that gives the congress jurisdiction over food safety standards and health care. And btw, Art 1 Sec 8 only allows the fed gov to establish post roads, not a massive federal transportation authority. Read the 10th Amendment in the Bill of Rights, which specifically forbids the federal government from engaging in any activity not specifically listed in the Constitution. Health care is not listed, therefore it is forbidden plain and simple.
Also, the "general welfare" clause does not relate to "welfare" in the term's 20th century adaptation. Read the founders' writings regarding the clause.
"Provide for the General Welfare" means govt expenditure can not benefit any particular individual.
You're interpretation of the constitution is very misguided. The founders' language in it is archaic considering they inserted the 3/5th clause concerning slaves in the census. They could not account for everything that happens in the future. So is Medicare unconstitutional? If you hate federal government intervention so much, then never drive on a US interstate again.

It's not that needs to specifically prohibit anything. Powers not specifically granted to fed gov in constitution are granted to states and people, by default. "General welfare" is WAY too broad to be seriously interpreted as a specific power, and the general welfare clause appears not as a stand alone statement, but as part of a sentance which runs for 18 paragraphs. Within the sentance following the gc clause, specific powers are granted.

Article 1 Section 8 of the US Constitution is where the Congress gets the authority for an army during times of war. And when a proper and constitutional declaration of war has been issued, then the president temporarily become the Comm in Chief of the armed forces, as outlined under Article 2.
Health care is not mentioned in Art 1 sec 8, therefore congress can have no lawful jurisdiction in the matter. Especially see the now popular 10th Ammendment.

They do NOT say, 'We, the federal government of the United States'. They say, 'We, the PEOPLE of the United States. Please reference the specific Article, section and clause of the constitution that gives the congress jurisdiction over food safety standards and health care. And btw, Art 1 Sec 8 only allows the fed gov to establish post roads, not a massive federal transportation authority. The congress is also only allowed to have an army when in actual time of war initiated by a lawful declaration of war under Art 1 Sec 8.

In places like Britain, Scotland, etc... the federal government allows for so much spending on particular treatments, such as an MRI. If you find you need an MRI after the fed has reached it's limit, you're screwed.
But here, you will get treated regardless. You'll just get stuck with a bill that is incredibly over inflated due to mass government involvement.

Read the 10th Amendment in the Bill of Rights, which specifically forbids the federal government from engaging in any activity not specifically listed in the Constitution. Health care is not listed, therefore it is forbidden plain and simple.
Also, the "general welfare" clause does not relate to "welfare" in the term's 20th century adaptation. Read the founders' writings regarding the clause.
"Provide for the General Welfare" means govt expenditure can not benefit any particular individual.

You're interpretation of the constitution is very misguided. The founders' language in it is archaic considering they inserted the 3/5th clause concerning slaves in the census. It's not that needs to specifically prohibit anything. Powers not specifically granted to fed gov in constitution are granted to states and people, by default. "General welfare" is WAY too broad to be seriously interpreted as a specific power, and the general welfare clause appears not as a stand alone statement, but as part of a sentance which runs for 18 paragraphs. Within the sentance following the gc clause, specific powers are granted.

Thanks for standing up for our Constitution!! That jackass-congressman is completely clueless. I hope he'll read it now since he took all the trouble to swear an oath to protect and defend it. His job description is clearly outlined in the text of Article1, Section 8 The "Preamble"? Geez, what a clown! Maybe you guys can produce a "joker" poster for this jerk too!

You can't have free healthcare until Americans start learning to be healthy. In my state of MA we have free health care and you get what you paid for. It's great though if you're a junky. You get free narcotics to use or sell! Free healthcare is a way to get everyone hooked on anti depressants. They even started taxing alcohol claiming it was hurting free healthcare but the truth is they want you to be a zombie. Alcohol brings out the truth(after a few not one beer). They don't want that.

I live on the north side of Chicago where those of us who still live free do so very quietly.
I may be in Athens, GA this winter and will stay in touch. Perhaps we can connect and compare notes en route. I expect presidential approval ratings will have settled considerably deeper as reality continues to set in with otherwise right-minded people. A rolling stone gathers no moss but there is nowhere to roll once one arrives at the White House.

Exactly CORRECT. Glad someone else is raving the same thing - The Constitution eliminates ALL the ISM's congress and politicians (non-Fed Level) have been using as Divide and Conquer Tactics for more than 100 years.
And should these idiots like to give Rights to Unconstitutional Healthcare - I will demand my Guns and Ammo, Tanks, Planes and Ships of my own by way of the 2nd Amendment. Might even Demand a Free Teleprompter too!

And just to add to this...we are facing an administration and congress acting on the desires of a minority of the electorate that either does not comprehend this imperative or opposes the very idea of the individual citizen's protection from governmental intrusion on these rights. SB 3200 contains several mechanisms with that potential and citizens of the US are correct to insist the bill in its current form is unacceptable, and that any variation thereof eliniate theose threats to our liberties
