When I watch these clips I am sadly reminded of the amount of truly great Jazz Talent that is no longer with us. Thank God( or whoever You pray to)for people like Orrin Keepnews
True deangelico, though their art remains with us, imortally, if you like. True as well the gratitude towards mr keepnews, and last but not least our debt towards the ever energetic, mr jazz-video-guy. happy listening.
Boy, does this bring back memories! I was at the Jazz Workshop nightly to hear the group, including when the album was recorded. Cannonball took S.F. by storm. The lines were out the door, and inside the tiny club the music was magic. Bobby Timmons absolutely rocked the house with "Dis Here." I've been listening to jazz for 50 years, and these were the greatest, most exciting live performances I've ever heard.
does anyone know that short opening piano theme to concord music group?

There will never be another Cannonball Addreley. I was lucky enough to hear him in person, several times.
And this recording, CA Live in SF, is one of the GREAT live dates ever produced.
Thank you Orrin Keepnews!
