  • Saaaaay Cheese..... ha ha ha. Ever wonder what they were thinking? Oh shit, we are definately going to be on YOUTUBE. Help us rescue team! Where the hell are you? We've been upside down for hours. Oh well, don't drink the WATER.

  • that looked pretty instant to me, the water force would of probably snapped there necks taking them out instantly but i wouldn't be surprised if one of them lived for an extra minute before drowning.

    But hey i'm no expert

  • Best crash awesome

  • so calm..

  • what exactly happened? im not familiar with the sport. but it looks like they start to go airborne and they just go lifeless before impacting the water, but they don't seem to yell or anything before going lifeless, its like they just die. Can someone fill me in? I saw something about paralysis from deceleration maybe?

  • @anonanon556 Apparently they ran across the path wawes of another ship which made them flip. I don't know the cause of their death, though.

  • Playboys...... shame they didn't learn to swim...

  • @ghostzapper2006 Thumbed you down you disrespectful punk.

  • why they haven't had helmets? or something to breath in the water??? oxygen??

    and a helmet please!

  • no one mentioned how they died (instantly or drowned). If they died instantly then sad but nothing one could do..however, if they drowned then i am very pissed...extremely!!

  • @ro7477 they died instantly because of enormous deceleration. They broke their necks at the impact. So as the rescue team arrived they've already been dead.

  • @klramon so some sort of neck brace might come in handy ?

  • @morry271 I don't think so...

  • @ro7477

enclosed boats carry small oxygen tanks with them

  • So sad it ended in tragedy. Rest in Peace Mohammed & Jean-Marc. You left us doing what you loved. Prayers for their families.

I read about this when it happened but just saw the video now. The Safety Crew was Slow in responding. Let's hope this event improves Safety at all future races.

  • Fighter Aircraft Helmets with Oxygen Masks & HANS Devices are worn by a majority of the F1 Boat Racers. The HANS will prevent neck injuries and the Oxygen will keep the driver breathing if inverted. I wish the Victory Team was using them. It may have made a difference.

I've crashed an F1 Boat at over 100mph and it was a scary event. Jean Marc was off the throttle when the flip occurred. The expression on his face shows he new what was coming. He was probably thinking "This might hurt a bit."

  • You guys commenting about boat racings safety need to educate yourselves about the realities of this sport before you start in with criticism about he people involved.

A "simple" flip like this has incredible kinetic energy involved - masks wouldn't have done a thing & comparison to F1's is silly. These were great guys that deserve admiration not condemnation.

  • This is why full faced helmets and hanns devices are a must in all forms high speed racing. I'm not saying it would have saved any lives but it sure would have given these guys a much better chance of survival.

Along with better rescue teams, as disndat commented. The best appreciation of this is redbull air races. specialised water rescue teams along with pilot education and practising of water crashes.

  • End of a luxury life...

Better feel some sorrow for poor & hungry people of the world. Why r u so sorry for these greedy men?

At least, know that they were having fun before death came.

  • @cagrianni well ...I get your point and basically I can share your feeling. I guess that, since centuries people do feel emotionally involved when a deadly event occurs hitting well known figures whatever field we look at.

Sportmen overall and ,back to this tragedy, mostly those who face danger in their performances and die while performing, can be pictured as mirrors in which a moltitude of human beings aim featturing the same role of their missing heroes.

    R.I.P.

  • RIP

  • nobodys in a rush to help

  • I heard this is one of the most dangrous sports in the world. I think a driver dies each year.

  • Rest in peace victory team. We will miss you in the world championship in arendal this weekend.

  • @turbopaulo it really wasn't like before without them, don't you think?

    Rest in peace

  • race in peace

  • That is a risk of boat racing

    Rip racers

  • what did they die off? Drowning or hiting?

  • it was the cell push in and thay got grush

  • Rest in Peace guys, you passed doing what you loved to do - boat racing!

Condolenses to your friends, families and loved ones

This is something I've seen a few times and may I say, You will never be forgotten!

    Ciao

  • REST IN PEACE

    Both was very good drivers.

    Loved their boat,loved their drivingstyle.

    R.I.P. :-(

  • It's not just a flip, the boat tilts a bit, lifts, rolls on... difficult to imagine what it actually did. But the cat is quite simply split wide open. Just looking at the wreck, you can tell it didn't have a happy ending. RIP

  • It's astounding that people who know absolutely nothing about class one or the sport of powerboat racing in general, feel the need to comment and criticise the sport and the rescue teams. Whilst safety in marine sports has come on leaps and bounds since the early days there's still an element of risk.

  • Well Said Bezmanqatar... I worked with Victory Team for 10 years and it is amazing how people dont have any idea what the sport is all about and how far they have advanced then the earlier days. To the Families... You are in my thoughts.. RIP Mohammed & Marc

  • ho saputo solo ora, ciao jean !!!!

  • Guys don't plame the divers or rescue team. they were fast and doing the exact thing that they should do. in such weather conditions the race used to be cancelled. but why did the ORGANISERS take the risk and did not cancel the race, this is not a Jet ski race.

    GOD PLESS MOHAMMED AND MARC.

we loved them and we love Victory Team.

  • ok is it the weather or the poor safety Precautions in this type of races?

did they drowned or they take a hit ??

  • Just to let you know, both the driver and throttleman were dead on impact, they suffered Broken back and Neck injuries. i know this becuase i have been in Fujarah, and i spoke to Arif al zafin, who is the victory 7 driver. he told us that they were goin at a reduced speed and the flipped at such a speed that it just put the boat over, they were doing about 120 MPH, and the water rush that came from the back of the boat broke there backs

  • Thats what I've thought about, unfortunately, the same situation happened again, first was with Bo Hlaiba in 1995, and the second is this.

    DUBAISESSlON pleas remove the clip

its so hard for us to see our friend like this in this video

  • No doubt this is a tragedy; but in these type of sports tragedy does happen unfortunately. You could choose not to watch the video if it hurts you.....

  • did they drawn or did they die because of the crash? I guess when the boat flips it gets quickly filled up of water, doesn't it?

  • They died on their way to hospital, the video shows paramedics performing CPR to both

    RIP Mohamed & Jean

  • What a tragedy. RIP.

  • R.I.P mohamed and jean may god give u a better place in heaven ;(

  • allah yer7amhom :(

  • looks like the cockpit was destroyed. A sad day for all in the superboat world.

Rescue looky iffy at best, like many i didnt see any underwater scuba gear just snorkels, just an observation.

  • The fact that none of the rescue team had subaquatic equipment is terrible. They spend most of thier time messing around with thier flippers; a fatal error it seems...

  • uae2allu - they do have safety hatches on the under side of the boat of time like this the boat flips they can still get at team, but for some reason it looks like they had trouble in opening them delaying there time in getting the team

RIP Mohammed Majid Al Muhairi and Jean-Marc Sanchez my thoughts go out to their families and friends

  • R.I.P

Tobias and Dieter Komm ( UIM Powerboating)

  • Wow, what a stunning response by the safety crew.

  • Can anyone explain me what are the safety system in powerboats?

My friend told me that it has Oxgen and Ejection button in case of any accidents is that true?

  • That was a sad sad day. My dad was friends with both drivers. :'( Jean Marc had two children, ages 7 and 4, that I looked after many times before. I'm so grateful to say that I met these two amazing people before they passed away so tragically. RIP Amo Mohammed & Uncle Jean Marc <3 :(

And for those of you who are talking about their deaths - they both broke their necks and as they were underwater, their bodies were bloated and thats how they died instantly after the crash. :(

    RIP.

    <33

  • :"( RIP

  • The reaction was not too slow. When it first takes off, it is difficult to get it back. I know what I'm talking about, I'm running even a small boat class. Mohammad and Jean Marc was one of the best in offshore sport. I talked to both in Arendal, Norway in the year when it won. Again RIP Mohammad Majed Mohammad Salem Al Mehairi and Jean Marc Sanchez.

  • These guys put their lives on the line every time they race. It is a risk they take but in this day and age deaths like this should not happen. Time to question the safety response times put in place by the WPPBA. I hope that both driver and throttle man RIP and that they have not died in vain.

  • It looks like they drowned more than anything considering how long it took for the rescue to come to them. May god rest their soul.

  • Singfarm You wicked lowlife - these were such nice guys and most of them race under sponsorship for the advertising business - its a sport they are sportsmen the same as under other competitor in any other event. I have had the pleasure of being involved with powerboat racing and you could'nt be more wrong - you dont deserve to even clean these guys boots hope your friends know who you are and disown you for every - no wait with an attitude like that you cant have any friends.

  • 00:31 gone...

  • 00:28

  • Singfarm - Who are you to decide what's wasting money? You use awfully strong words for people you don't even know, or probably ever heard of before. You should look at yourself in the mirror before calling others names, or wishing for their deaths. Your attitude reflects poorly on human beings.

  • what makes them assholes? jealous much?

  • @singfarm You're a total scumbag and waste of oxygen. Plz go kill yourself so that others may breathe the air you don't deserve to.

  • @singfarm you're a stupid pathetic bastard. u lack any morals.

  • My Thoughts go's to the families and team members of the pilot and Throttle man.

May God bless there souls. and hope the rescue teams and paramedic teams revise there procedures to save life's next time and keep this sport safe and fun for all.

  • wow!!!1 instantly precious lives were snuffed out right before your eyes!!!!!!!1

it makes life ever more precious... enjoy your life... & do good things while alive...

    RIP..

  • my heart goes out to their families! a bad end to a great year. Also bad to blame the rescue crew! They did there job!

  • That passenger is putting a lot of faith in the driver.... but I guess we all do that on a daily basis driving automobiles.

  • Have you noticed that everyone refers to 'pilots'? They are BOTH participating in the controls of the boat. Your 'passenger' is actually handling the throttles.

  • @staphinfection There are no passengers in those boats, only the driver (who does the steering and navigation) and the throttleman (who does the speed and trimming).

  • I watched them win in Arendal in July, and now they are both dead. This is very, very sad, and a hard loss for all of us who love this sport. It is not uncommon that these boats flip or roll, but I have never seen such damage to the canopy before. The boat must have gone very high and taken a really huge impact on landing.

  • That was a hard situation.Time of a discovery or it was fatal....

    Rest In Peace.

  • Thoughts go out top the families of the pilots.

This comes from a former class 1 rescue paramedic

  • I totally respect what you said and it is true but how can you tell wheather the assigned rescue paramedics were "professional"? you'd know better but to us it seems they were more than slow

  • 7/ In this crash the pilots were thrown out of the boat. The rescues assumed the pilots were still inside the cockpit. Hence the rescuer calls for his fins to be returned so he could dive back under the water 8/ Actaully its totally wrong to asssume the rescues are all low paid! 9/ what is noticable is that the first rescuers do not have small scuba "pony" tanks strapped to their legs which gives them 10 minutes of breathing air to effect an underwater rescue.

  • 4/ The rescues throws off his fins because once he swam onto the boat he need to discard his fins to walk on the slippery hull 5/ rescuer gets onto the hull to access and open the special rescue hatch on the underside of the boat 6/ All class 1 pilots will wear helmits, 4 point harness, and a life vest. Also inside the cockpit is scuba tank with regulator to supply breathing air for more than 5 min. Pilots also have to pass a dunk test to ensure they can to get their air and out of the boat

  • let me shed some light on all the ignorance: 1/ A class 1 power boat cockpit is designed with safety cell, similar to an F1 car - which should protect pilots during a high speed crash. 2/ Cockpit windscreen is deisgned like an F18 and can withstand the same force impact. The winbdscreen is still intact yet the cockpit cell is damaged. 3/ The rescue teams were on the boat in less than 1.5 minutes which is acceptable

  • friggin rediculous reaction time 2 get 2 the boat

  • john mark ومحمد المهيري

  • I guess this is what you get when you get low paid employees doing rescue work in an emergency like this.

How long did the first guy take before he dove in? I can see that he didn't like his first pair of flippers, so he gave them back and asked for another pair!!!!!

There are F1 crashes on a regular basis. Those cars do in excess of 200KMPH and still often the drivers walk unscathed. Why are the pilots not wearing ful face helmets? Why would a simple boat flip kill both pilots? What a waste!

  • you said it, low paid paramedics!

those filppers were killing his feet, could've diven without them if he thought it was that urgent!

  • @disndat11 I'm not going to comment on the rescue teams, but I will say that as far as I know, American Offshore racing has never had an accident like this one.

From the condition of the canopy it appears as though the boat blew completely over, landing upside down and backwards at over 100mph. The water blew out the back of the canopy and pinned both racers to the helm, probably causing instant death.

  • @disndat11 hhhhhhhhhhh

  • @disndat11 the water broke there necks from how fast they hit it and the angle

  • @disndat11 You clearly have no idea what you are talking about FI doesn't flip upside down and drown you. Helmets? They would have still been unconscious and helmets don't help you magically breathe. The guy didn't switch flippers he is trying to provide aid and it is hard with foot long power stroke fins to walk around on a slick boat bottom. In other words you made multiple comments that are completely irrelevant. don't even argue it just try to be more respectful and intelligent..

  • @BadazzShovelhead And before you say it the canopy is clearly breached which is why they drown.

That is so sad accident 

  • i actually ysaw the crash live frm the beach ... it ws horrible !!!

    R.I.P!!! VICTORY!!:((

  • Victory Team has one of the biggest budgets and some of the smartest engineers in the marine racing world...why so much emphasis on speed and not safety. Was this preventable?

  • What would you suggest? If they are so smart I think they would look after the drivers, don't you?

  • Ok I ask again

WTF are those idiot in the boats racing by this scene of accident thinking of. Is it so that when you place yourself in one of these boats your brain is turned off.

The waves from the boats are making rescuework difficult - or more difficult, since noone seem to have been thinking of the possibility that an accident like this could happen. Look how unproffesional it looks. Why are the divers not ready to dive within seconds from when they arrive to the boat. WHY WHY WHY !!!!!!

  • its their hobby!!!

  • This is real life, not any shitty Hollywood movie where the hero saves everyone with his superior skills.

Firstly..its not even easy to get out of that boat in the middle of the sea and what could they do with no gear? They just have helmets and racing suits, nothing they could have done. Thats why there are marshals.

  • How do the other racers know there is a serious situation? They are concentrating on not wiping out themselves. I think these guys know what they are doing even if it looks rubbish. People die doing this sort of thing, way it goes, tragic as it is.

  • goodgodzilla

Well if they STPPOED racing they wouldn't have to worry about wiping out themselves, would they?

2:16 Why wasn't the race stopped immediately?

This whole thing seems really really wrong.

  • that is not true my friend, it is from the recent accident :(

  • is it,? sorry

  • yes... it was last friday only... really shocking.... can't believe that there gone....

  • the 1994or5 the boat burned eventually (if I'm not mistaken)

  • in the end its so sad and scary video

so pleas remove it for hes family and for hes friends

  • @pyro1100 hey m8 i've been trying to this vid removed since december, "ce n'est pa la durée qui compte" c'est la facon don la quelle on la vi....... Paceboat driver steve.......

  • Such an original name "Victory."

  • did they died from drawning or from neck break? sorry my ignorance...

  • allah mars bar

  • Stupid rich mans sport.

    RIP guys.

  • whatta bunch of idiot lifeguards? Why not jump in and help them? Just standing there like fucking statues!

  • what CAN the lifeguards do ?

  • this sport is meaningless i think, because its so dangerous and didnt really goes for the olympic games.

  • R.I.P Mohammad Majed Mohammad Salem Al Mehairi and Jean Marc Sanchez.

  • are they fucking stupid in the head ... damn nice life guards they have. Be ready from the start and jump down quick

  • as a huge fan of the victoryteam, its sad to see two of our friends die in such a racing incident, although class one is one of the safest motorsports, such a blowover and the impact on the water looking at the damage on the hull this was beyond what the boat is designed for.

My condoleances to all involved in class one and especially the victory team.

    RIP guys.... Peter

  • RIP Jean Marc :'(

  • Complimeti per la velocità nei soccorsi... buffoni. NON FATE PIU' GARE IN QUESTI PAESI. NON SONO PREPARATI

  • Very sad day for offshore racing. RIP.

  • Ciao Jean Marc....

  • Terrible ...look like the deck was ripped off and safety cell did not work. I think there should be a separate safety cell that could be released from the boat with some small bolts and could float for itself. I lost my friend Ian Backe in Dubai the 90s in a boat race ,the reason then was no safety cells.

  • RIP guys.very sad indeed.

  • it looked like that they didnt care while they were flying... R.I.P

  • that's exactly what I'm thinking, They had still faces, no reaction, no attempt to escape though Victory Team suffered from the exact accident in 1994 (can't remember the exact year) when Hamad BuHlaiba Died from the exact accident yet his boat burned!

  • The guys were so professional. they shouldn't scare of the flipping. there faces shows that they are waiting fo finish the flipping and start the escape, but somthing bigger than expected happend after the flipping. the cockpit completely crached.

God pless them. R.I.P to their families and to VICTORY GREAT TEAM

  • Nooooo :( sadest moment so far for me in this sport :(

  • no no no no no ..

  • The slow response was inexcusable, but when you flirt with danger in a sport like this, there can be severe consequences.

  • RIP, a huge loss for our sport.

    Rip to all

  • A very tragic loss indeed.

    May they rest in peace.

Sincere condolences to both their families and friends.

  • Two wonderful guys who will be surely missed!

    RIP

  • Their faces...no coment...0:30

  • It is too sad.

Unfortunately it seems they did because of the incompetent rescue team.

It looks like there is an helicopter and other fast boats around but people there don't have any sense of urgency.

    It is a shame!

    DEP

  • RIP

  • they died because of the inpact on the water when the boat flipped off, i'm sad for them, the boat should be safer like having a safty cage..

    RIP no one deserves it

  • rip

  • RIP, by the way the boat looked, they were knocked out by the hit, and water must have filled the cockpit really fast. Very sad, I thought this boats had en exit hatch on the hull bottom...

  • I wonder why there isn't any and I can't seem to understand why they (RIP) didn't attempt to escape!

  • They are not reckless or irresponsible..

They just only found bad luck ..!

    R.I.P.

  • R.I.P.

  • R.I.P

  • I follow this sport for 20 years. I admired : Pironi, Casighari,... They knew the risk which makes this sport so exciting. Mohammad Al Mehairi and Jean-Marc Sanchez died practicing their passion I am sure they rest in peace.

  • Ehhhh

Why on earth are the race not cancelled.

Idiots are just sailing by with 250 km/h. and do not care about the accident - they don't even bother try to make any rescueattempts.

    Are they insane or what????
