  • It was hard to tell with the weird makeup Sherri wore, but she was really quite a beautiful woman. Sexy body (no implants - all real), and very pretty face. Since she retired, most of the woman wrestlers that have come along have been pretty lousy in the ring. Sherri even took bumps against the men in WWF & WCW. Outside of Beth Phoenix, Awesome Kong and ODB, or maybe Natalie Neidhart, name me one other woman wrestler of today that can do that. RIP Sherri Martel (Russell)

  • You're right. I watched Magnificent Mimi wrestle for the first time. Gorgeous, scientific, and aggressive.

  • The toughest lady wrestlers to ever grace the squared circle:

    1. Sensational Sherri

    2. Leilani Kai

    3. Judy Martin

    4. The Fabulous Moolah

    5. Monster Ripper

  • Sherri is definately the toughest :) I'd have to add Bull Nakano & Jazz to that list.

  • I agree to add Bull Nakano and Jazz---and the great Reggie Bennett.

Hate to say it but Madusa was very tough as well.

  • nice match to see wrestling not some hair whipping bimbo

  • I would love 2 see Judy Martin and Leilani Kai inducted into the WWE Hall Of Fame 1 day. They would be so deserving of it!!! Would also like to c Wendi Richter in there. I doubt that will happen tho :-(

    Other women i'd like 2 c there,

    Miss Elizabeth.

    Madusa (Alundra Blayze).

    Luna Vachon.

    Jacqueline Moore.

Sable (allthough not a great wrestler, the crowd reaction that she got was unbelievable).

    Chyna.

And in a few years -

    Lita and Trish Stratus.

  • The WWE Hall of Fame is mostly promo idea.

Judy and Leilani deserve to be in the Califlouer Alley Club, for that is a TRUE Hall of Fame. Wendi Richter was inducted in the Califlouer Alley Club in 1993.

  • R.I.P Sensational Sherri.

  • It's been 1 year today that the legendry & toughest woman ever in the WWE passed away...

    "Sensational" Sherri Martel.

    15/06/07.

    R.I.P Sherri :-( xxx

  • Classicprofan, I never said that the boots weren't sexy on Judy, Judy's a good lokoing lady. I just looked straight at judy's skills.

You are absolutely right, Judy is the woman wrestler who borught the power bomb to North America. Most likely, Judy also taught Wendi Richter that move when Judy was training her.

  • it's really sad that sherri died b4 she was 50! what a legend!

  • I grew up watching Judy Martin, forever a Legend!

  • You are so right. Judy is one of the best woman wrestlers who never held a singles women's world championship herself.

  • The knee-high boots were definitely made for Judy Martin. Not just in terms of sex appeal, but in terms of representing the base of Judy's overall power and wrestling skill.

So many times, Judy has worn those boots, standing tall and strong as she power bombing her overmatched opponent/victim.

  • Judy had 2 pairs of those long, knee high boots, one white pair, one black.

Which pair did you like better, or did it matter?

  • Thanks for putting this clip up to show Women's pro wrestling history. Sherri Martel was the best female wrestler, manager, and made women look strong while beating up guys as well.

  • Sherry was amazing both in wrestling and as a manager! ^_^

  • sweet Shwrry....R.I.P.

  • FYI: Judy Martin was the first North American wrestler to debut the Power bomb on the continent. She called the move "The Drip Dry"

  • steve stacks- the Gordon Solie of

    South Texas

  • I thought it was either Lord Alfred Hayes or Gorilla Monsoon that named Judy's Power Bomb "The Drip Dry". Either one of them is more likely to have thought up that name.

Question: You think that the WWE will EVER give Judy the PUBLIC credit for bringing the Power Bomb to North America? Me, I seriously doubt it. Vince lacks the class and professionalism to even THINK about doing it.

  • Judy Martin was one of the absoulte best female wrestlers of all time! Loved seeing her wrestle, especially seeing her power bomb her opponents! Judy's the reason the power bomb is my favorite move in the women's pro wresting division.

  • I know, how far ahead of her time she was. I saw a clip where her and Leilani Kai did a beautiful double team backdrop/powerbomb, just excellant stuff.

  • Which clip was that? I'm not saying that Judy and Leilani never had that finisher, but the double team backdrop/power bomb, or double team backdrop into a power bomb, was the finisher usually used by Joyce Grable and Wendi Richter when they were a team.

The standard m.o. for Judy and Leilani was that Leilani would distract the referee, and/or Judy would come in and power bomb the other woman while the referee was distracted, and then sneak back out while Leilani got the 3 count.

  • Which clip was that double team backdrop/power bomb move done by Leilani and Judy?

I thought the double team backdrop/power bomb was executed by Joyce Grable and Wendi Richter.

Judy and Leilani strike me as the kind of women's tag team that would have applied a straight up double power bomb in a tag team match. The first time I saw from Judy use the move was when she power bombed Candace Pardue.

  • I love these two. Judy had some wicked cool moves (powerbomb anyone?) and sherri was an awesom character and in-ring performer. RIP Sherri, you will be missed.

  • Yes, Judy was the FIRST American wrestler to bring the power bomb here to America.

Sherri was a great woman wrestler, and she will be missed. Hopefully, she will not be forgotten.

  • وواوو يا احلى مصارعه شيري مارتيل ( شيري المدهشة )

  • RIP Sherri you are a legend

  • just heard that sherri martel died today

  • R.I.P Sherri the greatest female wrestler

  • She certainly was. Sherri will be missed.

  • Judy Martin was great, one of my old style favourites. Pity she never got given the chance to wear the singles belt, she deserved it.

  • I concur. Judy would have made an excellent women's world champion.

  • I second that. Judy Martin is truly an awesome woman wrestler.

  • OH RIGHT JUDY MARTIN

  • There sure is something about her :) I also liked her matches against the japanese women - quite the contrast between the skilled japanese and the brawler Yanks!

  • Two great wrestlers! Martin did a lot of good matches against japanese wrestlers. I'm also a big fan of her.

  • I know. Most of Judy Martin's toughest matches were against the Japanese woman wrestlers.

  • Stateside, I think that Judy Martin and Wendi Richter were evenly matched. Those two really wrestled well against each other.

  • I'm also a big fan of Martin - maybe it's the knee-high boots or the overall southern trash look. She's also a great heel.
