@MegaCandy39 You could go with the Wii VC, no glitches or anything like that, but there are some NES games that the VC doesn't have. Contra is example. It's up to you, but to me, there's nothing better than playing a game on the console it was originally made for.
@Riddler95 Yes, but if you hook it up using composite cables and without a splitter, you will only get sound out of one speaker, unless you are hooking it up to a mono TV.
The controllers can easily be restored by opening them up (6 little screws in the back) and cleaning the citcuit board contact points , on the board itself and the rubber parts. Clean off all the carbon buildup (25+years worth) with household AMMONIA, you can buy a bottle for about a dollar at any grocery store in the cleaning aisle.

The AMMONIA is also amazing for cleaning the 72pin connectors on the games, makes them work again.
I'm having trouble deciding whether or not to get an original NES. I know it's more logical to get the games I want through virtual console but but I'm not sure the experience will be the same on a wii. What do you think?
@MrSlapthebass If I were you I would get games that have save states (like Final Fantasy, Zelda, etc) for the VC as it is a pain to replace batteries. For all other games I would get the originals. Also, some games are worth a lot of money as originals but only a couple bucks on VC so that is worth considering.
i came across a nes at a 2nd hand store today for $12 I am not sure if it has any cables or controllers included, but I think it would be pretty bad ass to own a nes. Do you think I should get it? even if it doesn't have any of the cables, controllers etc.?
It comes with Two controllers, a new 72 pin connector, and the power supply and RF box. I also have an FC Mobile 2(a portable NES Clone) Should I stick to the portable, or get the actual console?
I sure have to get an NES Max and/or an NES Advantage. I plan on getting Silver Surfer for the NES soon.
Do you know anything about this NES peripheral, the Camerica Freedom Stick? I had that years ago, but we trashed it because it was eating up betteries all the time.
i have an NES and it workd really good, one control, and both the standar and the 3color cable, and the A/C cable , i was wounderg whats the value of it now in days
It is certainly an option for some but for those who really like good sound quality they will notice the difference. Plus lots of clones can't play certain games like Paperboy. Depending on the controller port you might also miss out on peripherals like the NES gun. For a less hardcore retro gamer though they certainly are a good buy, especially the ones that can play games from multiple systems.
If you dont like clones you can always get the real systems i have the AV Famicom the nes 2 with av out and a converter its extremely rare i use the Yobo as a back up NES.
Well it's really up to you man. Just think of what games you would rather have. Super Mario World or Super Mario Bros? Link to the Past, or Legend of Zelda?
I sold my first Sega Mega Drive, then my Atari, then my Sega master system, then my Game Boy Advance sp, and lately my first Play Station one that I got from my grandma after some guys knocked my front teeth out. AND I REGRET IT ALL! This is a lesson for you who are watching: NEVER SELL A SYSTEM OR AN OK GAME YOU WILL REGRET IT!
I've never played with the NES Advantage, it looks like a really nice controller. I do have the NES Max, which looks like it would be cool, but I don't have an NES right now.:(
That NES is my second one from my childhood, which I got after my NES started to fail on me. I still have the first one as well. I have never sold a system and only actually sold 2 games ever.
i never realized until today that the ens had video had av cable connections but the weerd thing is that they give you a yellow/white byt give you yellow/red
Gee...that's a tough one. I think that both of them are good for different things. Mostly, both are used for things that are more of an arcade style, such as shoot'em'ups. I think that the NES Advantage is much cooler but neither one is better than the other. It depends on the game in my opinion.
Actually Nintendo prefers that you DON"T use cotton swabs to clean games because they leave little cotton fibers which will effect wether the game runs or not more than dust.
Well, ideally one would take the game apart and use a special electronics cleaning pad (much like a very soft SOS pad) on it but most people don't have the screwdrivers, pads, or patience to do so.
I find that the cotton swabs work fine so long as you dont use a brand that has a lot of loose fibres. Plus, most games do not run due to residue on the contacts, not dust. That dust thing is mostly a myth so much as I am concerned.
Thanks for the imput though. I might put something about that in the the description tommorow.
(I am assuming you are refering to the official NES toploader). If you have the money I would get the top loader as they are more reliable. They do not have the issues due to the security or the pins so only suffer from old age and worn out cartridges. I personally do not own one but have only heard good things about them.
What about the dog-bone controller?

I bought a NES with a new 72-pin connector in it, and my games are seal in it really tight and it's hard to pull them out, is it an advantage for me?
Toady120 4 months ago
@Toady120 Well it will probably make your games work better but will wear out the contacts. I would see if you could loosen them a bit.

Anywhere for $5 to $50 I guess. The older the console the more varied the prices, I find.

For those looking to get an NES i would get the Yobo FC Game console instead of getting the original NES its cheaper more convenient and it works.
