man i really hope not. the reason i fell in love with the band in the first place was because they were so care free. they just made fun playful music and they loved doing it. Itd be tragic if they switched to being a "serious band"

They're not trying to convey any new image.

Their first album had a producer, so the band felt that the first album wasn't really "their sound".

They've self produced the new album, so this is their "real sound".
