  • fagggggggggggggg

  • I won't critique this because it is old and he was young.

Though i will say that ep 4-6 were not made this way. They used completely real sets, and they actually went frame by frame and basically drew the light-sabers onto the film by hand.

  • Fail.....

  • tell your daddy that spaceships don't make any sound in deep space.

  • Great video keep up the good work.

  • Your kid is the next Lucas!!!

  • awesome...

  • Did he win?

  • nice work kid.

  • i always hated that kid that made their parents do the project.

  • Very nice! And in third grade! WOW!

  • funny voice

  • @o0DeathStrike0o Actually, it *is* called Chroma key. It's the process of keying out one color, replacing it with the transparent alpha channel. Color correction is an entirely different process where the colors in a video clip are corrected to compensate for how the lighting can alter their appearance, altering *all* of the color values in the clip it's used on.

  • or just paint your sword green :P its works

  • Great job! He's smarter than me! lol

  • this kid did a great job

  • Very, very good... you must be very proud of your son to learn how to do all this at that age. Hey Redeyes... good on you, this technique could take your son far on a media course. I'm a media student my self and I'm the only guy in the class who knows how to do this stuff... This will be a great asset later in life if he decides to take the route of special effects.

  • nice kid kepp up the good work :)

  • Very nice :D

  • pretty good for a kid

  • I'm very young and I can do that.

Sadly, I never had a science fair.

Nice job! I didn't know that needed THAT many layers.

  • Holy smokes, Amazing!

  • He did 100% of it. I (Dad) did teach him how to use the tools first.

  • ooh.

  • you guys know his parents had to help him with all of this.

You know with 3rd grade Science Fairs.. the 3RD GRADERS ARE SUPPOSED TO DO THE PROJECT

  • crazyredeyes Please Reply, Yes im older than you lol but, do you hafto mask around every movement of the lighsabre to get its effect if not tel me how.

  • Yes. The light saber was rotoscoped frame by frame with Wondertouch Particle Illusion.

  • Instead of doing THAT much time consuming work, why don't get a special effects program like Adobe After Effects?

I would never, ever, spend that much work on a lifesaber!

  • Frame by frame? You've got a lot of time on your hands.

  • @DynasticProductionz u could track

  • coooooooooooooooool!!!!!!!! i can't believe your just a kid!

  • for a kid tst coo dood luv it

  • WOAH! he is one smart kid!

  • my name is thomas too hahahahahaha great video

  • wow... i never new that.... cool!

  • sounds to me like he's either reading it, or saying a rather rehearsed script :P

  • He is reading a script he wrote. He then interacted live with this video to the judges. That's why some parts seem strange because he was talking to his LIVE self

  • if the kid made it then thats quite good..... none of my chroma key was as sucsessful as the kids..... wow..... nice work.....

  • 5 Stars!

  • Could I possibly join his class (I am only 64) and just getting into video editing (dang). Does he have any video tutorials online? CEO cmilton111

  • What was used to make this?

  • From his Dad,

The light saber was rotoscoped with Wondertouch Particle Illusion. The Chroma Key was done inside Avid Liquid. And Yes, he won. He has placed in the top three every year since. He is in 7th grade now and just scored a 900 on the SAT (not bad for 7th grade). Ok, I'm a proud parent ;) Check out his science fair project from last year. Check it out in my other videos. He is still working with our dog on this one for Publication.

  • cool! I will!

  • did u win!!!!!!!!!?????????

  • How do you do the lightsaber effect?

  • OMG that kid just.... I have no chance =)

  • your kids smart!

  • this kid makes me look stupid i cant get this at all right

  • No, I don't have a lishp, why do you ask?

    :P

Actually, this was great. There was no way a 3rd grader did this by himself.

  • lol, I did something like that in 3rd grade...

  • let me guess after evvects and CS3?

  • Rotoscoped with Wondertouch Particle Illusion. The Chroma Key was done inside Avid Liquid

  • "Just like in star wars" yeeeeeeeeeee suuuure...

  • no he his in a room whit a green screen...

  • did he win the science fair?

  • good job!!! this was awesome!

  • what does this have to do with science?!?!?!??!

  • LOL, What a dumb question

  • what program have you used?

  • a good program is adobe premiere or adobe after effects

  • lol

  • good work

  • wow,what programme use???

  • I tried to do a video response, but I don't think it worked. This is great! Obviously we park our cars in the same garage.

  • Amazing work for a 3rd grade project! Im jelous!

  • 3rd Grade!WOW! I only learnt this in high school.

  • I'm in the 7th and i just mastered this i haven't posted any of the chroma key yet

  • great job xD!!

  • Well done Thomas. :)

  • to substitute green screen, can you buy green posterboard and tape it to the wall?

  • show something better, puperty, jealous boy. too much spoiled or too less advertence? gee.

  • p.s.: this comment was for ish260.

very good work! keep on going, thomas! you are gonna be the next special effects star.

  • u can also use adobe after effects it has a really good light saber effect

  • From his Dad,

Of course I helped him out. He did however demonstrate how to do the everything you see here to the judges. Thats why he say" Oh, I already introduced myself, Hi Thomas" He is actually interacting with himself while playing back this video to the science fair judges. Check out his science fair project from this year. Check it out in my other videos. He is still working on this one for Publication. As for the light saber, He rotoscoped it with Wondertouch Particle Illusion

  • great job

  • Wow i wish i knew how to do stuff like that when i was a kid. I barely learned all that about a moth ago and it was a butt to learn.

  • How did you light up the sword ?

  • man. I seriously wish I had that much space to do a green screen. I've been bound to small backgrounds and miniature sets for my rats. X(

  • Nice work. You should make a short movie or something to show everything you know. Keep up the great work.

  • That was really good

  • How do you know it's Fake?! Have YOU ever been on a Fake spaceship?? Uh?? I didn't think so! So before you go saying "things are fake" you better think. Geeze... Nice going making a kid feel like he's Not on a spaceship.

  • Wow, if you did the effects kid, then great job for your age! (Tip: when you're rotoscoping the lightsaber, when it moves slow, fan it out a little bit, but the faster it moves, the more you should fan it out. It's easier when you try to match it wigh the prop's motion blur.) Keep up the good work!

  • AWESOME! dude, your like 4 years younger than me and already learning about that! thats awesome, keep it up, and what program u usin? i use Adobe Premiere Elements and I'm just now learning about greenscreen and stuff.

  • I would give him an A!

  • Wow that is pretty dam good for a third grade science project :D

  • That was excellent work! I do Chroma keying in a high school lab and it's not as easy as it looks. You got to worry about lighting, camera position, colour of costume and props etc... btw what software program did you use? The quality of the chroma key looks way better than mine.

  • The Keying in this video was done inside Avid Liquid. We also like Ultra Key. For DV footage it is the best in my opinion.
