  • nice chops..honestly :)

  • that kid live in loisiana

  • its good for playing by yourself but no one plays by themselves on a field, if you posted a video that had a whole line playing clean precise and maybe with better video quality and better gear it would be a hell of a video...i think it sounds good now but again no one plays alone on a field...and the drum sounds a little low

  • would u believe i got here from SCV Cheesy Poofs

  • @TheChoclateThunder1 would you believe i got here from a recomended video after watching Music city Mistique?

  • @TheChoclateThunder1

    I got here from Flammus...

  • @rikuantu dude me too. go vanguard!

  • @th3mexican227

Haha yeah dude saw them this year at Massilion.

  • Dam ol southern run smh

  • two words: show band

  • uh, this kid shits all over nick cannon. There were so many hybrids in there. Haters gonna hate. This guy has talent, regardless of what band he performs for.

  • Definately got some chops! But I have never been one for show bands just not the way I was raised. Good though, about as good as our center snare this year! Keep on playing!

  • SLIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIICING THAT PIZZA

But forreal your right hand is a superslicer.

  • very nice technique, double strokes could always use work but thats expected. might i ask why your drum is tuned like a concert snare drum? im sure it sounds good with the pieces your band was playing but why so low?

  • yeah this is obviously more southern stuff you can hear it in the tuning and playing of the drum.. hes not bad but yeah it obviously doesnt compare to corps cuz thats completly different.

  • not bad for some field drum chops. Must say I prefer kevlar heads though : (

  • Looks like Nick Cannon

  • i'm sure you meant "running on my drum". Misspellings only make you look ignorant and illiterate....not "gangsta' cool".

  • @rockthetenors Just because it is a mylar head does not mean it has to be low.

  • Look corp style vs show stylle is bullshit show style is for "SHOW" and corp style is for being more musical... let old boy do his thing.... and let people who do corps style do theres... they are both styles

  • why r u useing concert sticks u should be able to use marching band sticks cause its not as impressive if ur useing a lighter stick than colleges use and most high schools. i could be wrong about ur stick but if im right try a full size stick it will increase ur sound quality by a ton.

  • Guys please forgive me for the ignorant comments I posted a while back. My outlook on the world of percussion was narrow and I was ignorant. I respect all styles of drumming and show band is no exception. Once again, I'm sorry.

  • @bradybrignac It's not ignorant if it's correct.

  • @CheezeKing110 they arent insulting his race theyre insulting his playing. thats not really racist at all.

  • Guys, atleast hes not robbing stores .. hes putting his free time to GOOD use.. get off his back. .damn

  • @davidprestley Racist? Lol jk

  • Why is everybody hating? I actually like the low-tuned snare-sound. Sounds oldschool.

  • Okay guys I made these dumb little comments when I thought I knew everything. I respect all styles of drumming, and I am sorry for anything I have said.

  • wat tha fuck

  • Hey back in the day all snare drums sounded like this, but now its changed so they're very short and quick sounding.

  • Nick Cannon???

  • and THIS is the reason I hate show bands or "Historic black marching bands". I'm not being one bit racist, that's exactly what they call themselves.

  • @nickeftink not all black college bands play like this. you cant judge them all by just looking at one black guy on a drum. check out the bands in the MEAC they combine both showstyle and corps style techniques together. check NCAT, BCU, Norfolk State, SCSU, NCCU, FAMU, Howard University, Hampton University. and some SWAC bands have stepped their game up like TXSU, UAPB, PVAMU now pv's drumline is going to sound dirty since they are an all freshmen drumline.

  • hes talented i bet he could do the same thing on the pearl with the randall may carrier just because something isnt what you are accustomed to doesnt mean it is wrong. open minds people

  • contrary to popular beleave thats the normal sound for a show band.. i myself play snare in a corp style.. the snaredrums are tuned to diffrent songs.. therefore diffrend sound for that said song... its all about style of baand and musical selection

  • this isn't something to be proud of... sorry...

  • For real, why yall gotta be hatin on this, his playing was pretty good, who cares if his drum was tuned all low and stuff....

  • yea! nice bass solo!

  • did your school try to tune like FAMU? im not going to critisize you , but don't you realize that your concept of how you play is not getting you to learn more rudiments

  • you're right, this is nothing to brag about. get a carrier, tighten the heads and snares a lot, and record it outside

  • Comment removed

  • dip much?

  • thats definetly not how your supposed to tune a marching snare that sounds like shitty middle school snare tighten that shit up and make it more poppy so it will actually sounds like a snare

  • i hate when people need everything to be to their standards. that was awesome. it rly dnt matter if ur drum it tuned different. different ppl like different styles and sounds. that was sumthing

  • Comment removed

  • MAD WEAK

  • ya bad.

  • I really hate it when kids post really good playing and people have nothing but negative things to say...as though "good job" are two words that should never be put together. I'm a professional drum teacher/player and I liked it a lot. Thats's all I have to say. Good job. You've got talent. Keep it up.

  • aye bro fuck all these hatin ass comments. that shit was nice. i'm not a big fan of snare drums tuned that low but that sounded really clean so i can't really complain. ncie work. SN: yes i do know that this video is stupid old. lol

  • haha.. i like 0:57

  • Stop bashing how his drums tuned, its all personal. Good job man, sounded great.

  • i mean i got your back dude and i know that this vid is old but tune your drum and fix the strap...... and doing SU run...... try UABP C/O 03 Krank to Kold.....

  • What marching snare is that, it sounds like Shit!

  • love that sound of your drum, keep playin' man your doing great.

  • I thought black people were supposed to have beat

  • @LongLiveTheChevron I'm black but I'm gonna have to agree with you on that one.

  • two words: nick cannon

  • @cflynndrummer and any drummer knows exactly what you mean

  • You fuckin suck. stop drumming

  • doesn't sound bad, just look at your left elbow in this video, you see how you have it tucked in, now go watch a video of a drum corp and you will notice a difference, it's easier to tuck that elbow in to push out notes but hinders you in that you reach a certain limit where you just can't put anymore in and it also keeps you from being able to improve due to bad habits. i know this video is like 3 years old so i'm sure you have that fixed by now :)

  • how about yall stop hatin on his snare sound and notice on how clean he was playing. I loved those flam fivelets

  • even though i dont too much care for the su run home boy that was str8

  • even though i dont like su run but home boy that was str8

  • Wow man...MAJOR slice work on that brotha.

  • what school

  • yea. i remember when i led soldiers to battle back in the civil war. jesus christ.

  • it takes skill to make a drum sound that terrible. y does it sound close to a tinpani but also a concert snare?

  • your hands look pretty decent but i cant tell because it sounds like a concert snare drum maybe its just a personal preference but it sounds like something a little kid can do but i can tell by looking at it that its not that easy tune it higher and more dry so your listeners can actually hear what your playing and realize its not as bad as it sounds, keep working

  • yeah that is really wet and too low......you suck

  • time for my 2 cents

    corp> show

a corp drumline could play anything a show line could do, without a doubt better.

after all most show drumlines, and youtube is my evidence, just play diddles and accents with a couple of stupid stick tricks.

  • @flyinhawaiian124 i agree one hundred percent...do you also just watch sucky people on youtube for fun,as i do? you should check out sean and tj and x they arent as bad as this guy but that isnt sayin much....its pretty funny

  • ill say that you have good positioning on the drum, good job on that, nd I'm sorry, but i think your line should get new straps, those kind just seem kind of awkward nd they don't really help with posture, nd the drum could be tuned a little bit higher, haha, just some "constructive" criticism

  • aye bruh u choppin and everythang...but i jus gotta say wassup wit da drunk ass school shirt

  • although the drum is not tuned higher it still sound good. it can match to a tuned powerstroke77.

  • nice work dude im just starting

  • idc bout dat but dat dude sucks!!!!!!!!!! lmao

  • why dont they tune their drums higher??

  • why did u have to say that man that is offended to black folks even to me

  • i hate fuc kin racist people just shut up

  • @14lhdl Diss someone once you can spell IGNORANT

  • @14lhdl shut up u racist ass u cnt even spell Ignorant right probaly cnt drum worth shit

  • Hey! your not in DCI xD if you where..well, trust me ! don't try out for it with your "skills" xD Oh man! I won!

  • how heavy r marching drums

  • depends on what you buy.

    Snares: 12-17lbs

    Tenors: 25-40 lbs

  • tenors are like 50 to 75 pounds

  • NOT 75. Are you nuts?! Maybe 45 at the most.

  • No, they aren't. A large set of quints is about 30-40 pounds.

  • try 45

  • haha dude i march 5th bass. all i can tell you is pretty fucking heavy.

  • in swac bands all we use is 5th bass wit tha whole line

  • I didn't know what "swac" was so I had to look it up. Google's a good search engine but it took a while to find out. Apparently it's a bunch of black schools that nobody's ever heard of where their drumlines play piss-poor music with bad technique. You can't hang.

  • first of all im 27 c/0 2005 od Southern University where we learnded pure technique and cadences that would put to shame any corps style band who play boring lame wack 1234 cadences that are so simple and always follow tha same pattern. Listen to any real band , not just southern but j-state alabama st. or famu for example so get your facts straight. So dont get mad cuz the fans showin no attention to the band cuz 1. they cant hear u over the crowd and 2.yall play borin music and cadences

  • i guarantee that any corps style drumline can play whatever you play better than you can so calm down, they are just different styles of music leave it at that!

  • you learnded pure technique and cadences? yeah i'm sure they were very good and you just rocked the house right? well whatever the fuck you do isn't real drumming, so learn real technique and get out of your own little world that i can play 2 &4 backbeat variations better than the rest of the world because its not true...

  • Most showstyle bands cant even read..

So before you bag on a corps style band, know what your talking about..

  • Okay well explain to me why they like there drums tuned so damn low?

It sounds like shit, wouldn't you much rather a high pitched (clean) sound?

  • just a personal preference

give it more depth to the sound...sound better in person than on camera

  • If you say so..

  • @bradybrignac trollXD

  • @bradybrignac it's mylar assclown it's supposed to be low.

  • @bradybrignac it's called a field drum

  • that is so right

  • @bradybrignac Not true to get in the HBCU drumline i had to take a reading test and a Rudiment test. and why is it that everytime a black kid play a HBCU Cadance it is always some flack on what they are playing, just because corps drummer tune their durms a certin way or play a certin style cadance does not make them better. What you should be focus on is that the fact that he is playing . ohh an SN I can play both styles and i have been play for 17years

  • @pr192001

Man im sorry I posted such a dumb comment..

That was a while back when I thought I knew everything.. I have respect for show bands now and there preference of playing music and ect.

I am now a better percussionist and person, please forgive my stupidity. And everyone who upped my stupid comment, you have some growing to do. As a better person and a musician.

    Brady

  • @bradybrignac ummm to get in a "show band you must take a reading and a rudiment test, i know because i in a "show band" so before you u open your mouth know what you are taliking about.

  • @bradybrignac actually showstyle bands can read. cause when they go into concert band season they have to read music.

  • @lillee13

Okay, skill-wise show bands don't compare to corps.

You can ask any instructor for a show band and they will tell you the same thing.

Show bands are for show. Corps are for competition. The best of the best play with corps.

  • @TVOham but you do have to understand them though, i myself like dci, but show bands do have to learn a new show every week or so (depending on the band...) and don't have a lot of time to chop out. the music for percussion is written for the band, not in harmony, the band is the voice, and the percussion is the "BUH BANG DITTYBANG DUH BANG DUH BANG BANG" which nothing wrong with it, just a different way of composing...

  • @PercussionChops

    I understand it's a different style.

I'm responding to the people who made the arrogant claim that show bands have more skill which of course is completely ridiculous.

  • @TVOham Ohh yeah dude, i understand, i freakin hat when i get show band kids coming up to my line and telling me "HURR, WE IS DAH BESTIEST". i like the ones that know the order of things ;D

  • search meac drumlines and cold steel drumline on youtube them alone can wax your line.

    also MDF$ drumline

  • Just checked out some of those videos. Same stuff. Boring, uncreative stuff. Just a bunch of boom-boom music meant to get the crowd going. Beats are based on simple accent patterns and diddles. The only waxing they'd be doing would be my car.

  • they are all just as choppy and more funky and way more exciting then any corps line.

  • @lovesdrumsalot dude, ive carried one before,(yes, on a carrier) they are pretty light actually, haha

  • @rockerman967 they have different sizes of them and mine was fucking huge. and also i weigh like 124 pounds. so yeah.

  • @lovesdrumsalot dude, ive carried a lot of different sizes, and im only like 121 pounds, so yeah.

  • you kno how people always say pull up your pants. well this time pull up your drum

  • wow ok that was cool...im more into DCI and shit but this was cool.

  • im not being offensive but your drum isnt it a marching snare? sounds like a concert snare its weird sorta

  • i think... emphasizing on i think here but i think that its a battery drum instead of a marching snare so i it doesnt have the kevlar heads we use. a lot of the older schools use them because there more "traditional". once again i could be wrong

  • its known as a Field Drum. its a more modern version of the ones from like the 1700s. it has a looser head and different snare wires.

  • You guys are all wrong, it's just a normal marching snare that is not CRANKED like they usually are.

  • I think I'll go with it not having the high torque heads. But I've also noticed a difference in sound with different snare material. I'm not a drummer(trumpeter) so don't bash me for the comment.

  • It looks to me like a black Remo Kevlar head, it is very possible to get an older mylar head sound out of a loosely tuned kevlar head though.

Haha, no hate here man. Your all good. I'm still gonna stick to my guns though

  • no its a marching snare just has a bad sounding head

  • omg dat snare sound like shit get it tuned rite smh

  • is that rele how your school tunes its drums? that sounded like a timpani solo. if you tune your drum that low its impossibal to hear what your playing,it sounds like your just ramming notes,

  • (Sigh) no it isnt impossible to hear wat u are playin, i was in a small room so a thing call a echo wa sin effect and tha camera subtracts from tha sound so yeaaaa.....

  • wow,you rele think that it sounds good? that drum sounds horribal,i caant even comment on your playing cause it sounded like mud,

  • Hey dont pick on em haha just because we like our drums so tight its like playing on concrete doesnt mean thats the only way there is to play. I mean in the south their drum lines do some pretty sick stuff, its not all about who can play the crazyest rudiment it more about the showmanship and what sounds looks and feels best

  • hey DMSxSNARE:

numer one: Its a traditional marching snare, so its supposed to lay like that, because he is using a sling, not a harness.

Two: update your vocabulary, i see london i see france? what are you third grade?

  • i see london , i see france, i see the top of your drum jackass

  • bitch fuck u hoe

  • @masterernest yeah you really suck.....alot

  • @masterernest lol dms is a douche but thats shit was funny doe. no hate i like what ur doin.NH

  • @masterernest ooh good comeback

  • Bahaha! Obviously masterernest is way too busy doing hood rat shit to worry about learning music...or typing.

  • not bad. some southern spice. ahaha.

  • nooo bra its a x back strap thats how it gosse and its ment for high stepers

  • why the heck are u strapped up like that?? its supposed to go across your back not around you neck. thats gotta hurt.

  • nice solo... i guess

  • Well first of all, I was replying to igoturnose80. Though it may be on your video, the comment wasn't directed towards you personally. Second, learn how to spell. Did you say you were a senior in high school? (honestly, with your poor spelling, grammer and "drum" skills, that's really not something to be braging about) Hopefully your high school English program isn't as shitty as your "percussion" (if even that) program apperently is.

  • DCI will kill the shit out off HB drumlines. if there was ever a drum battle with a DCI drumline and a HB drumline.... umm DCI drumline will reallllllllllllllyyyyyyyy winnnn! lol its true. they should do that!

  • wow really? get a fucking clue. if anything is "boring as fuck", it's HBC. (I'm black by the way, in case you were wondering)

  • um fuck u first off second why waste ur time watchin or commenting if u dont like hbcu dumbass

  • As much as i do Love DCI (Blue Devs Ftw) DCI and HB are two totally different things competing in different ways, think of an average person watching they wont know anything about marching percussion and twirling sticks and going cool visuals gets the job done better then cramming notes and playing some impossibly had piece

  • The only bad thing is that people in HB drumlines don't really have chance in DCI because the style of marching is different and they don't have the technique that drum corps uses

  • well thats true but most drummer form new orleans dont care for dci or corp style druming but i myself take what i can formit and add it to my stlye to improve musicianship

  • thats not true. there are many styles of percussion in traditional marching even styles similar to corp. in corp, there is only one. look up, cream drum corps, black fire, redan high percusion, mlk percussion, north carolina a&t percussion, jcsu, bcu, norfolk, south carolina state university, pv a&m, texas southern, Virginia state university, none of these lines play the same.

  • besides texas southern in my opinion most of those lines to sound the same sum are a bit stiffer than the others but still dci corp material..i liked cream i seen dem on tha marchin network

  • wish i could of did this shit

  • Thanks if u like this one watch the one from ma senior year

  • WoW Man That Wasnt Bad at All Good Work
