  • very helpful!!:D thankyou so much for sharing!! does qantas often accept pilots that have had experiance and flight training at other airlines? please reply!!:D

  • is there any height limit to join?

  • nope, as long as your head doesn't rub on the ceiling..

  • why are you short?

  • there is a height limit to every airline out there but im not sure what you have to be between exactly.

  • No she means 2nd Officer as in cruise relief pilot on Long Haul flights. Not all airlines have second officers, Qantas is just one of the those that do.

  • Sorry that is wrong Mate. All airlines have a Second Officer

  • Virgin Atlantic, British Airways, Singapore Airlines and Emirates, to name a few, don't have Second Officers

  • @BNEHKG9 they do however have 'cruise' first officers? Which are essentially the same thing as a S/O and are of lesser rank than a normal F/O unless I am mislead

  • @riplstrip mmm not quite.

most airlines, especially regionals use just FO's and Captains. and most airlines don't use airplanes that have an SO slot, some will have a flight engineer in the cabin, but not the cockpit as far as i'm aware. but i do know that the carrier companies like UPS, FedEx, Evergreen etc, use planes that require SO's but from what i know abotu Qantas, several planes do have SO's.

but planes with SO's tend to be older 747's, DC-10's, B727's and B717/707s.

  • Qantas hard to get in they have very higher requirement because they are good airline so want get better pilot

  • i think she means 2nd officer by flight engineer

  • oh thank you , for saying that because i didnt understand that of " 2nd offcer" lol

  • Flight engineer is bye bye. It like a junior first officer

  • lol 1:43 engine failure on the landing

  • 3:07 hmmmmmmmmmmm 2nd officer what the hell is that maybe she means flight engineer

  • i think she knows what her job is.......and i think other people would know what her job is before they typed it in the captions below

  • Are you get into training start from 16 years old? Where ? and how?

  • Try the Qantas website.

  • there is a chance!for me

  • "2nd Officer?"

I have heard of 1st Officer but 2nd Ofiicer?

  • Its for reeeaaalllyyy long flights.

  • 2nd Officers are as mention below used on longhaul flights on the B747-300/400's, A330 and now A380 aircraft. They're kind of like aprentice pilots, they don't do take off or landing but fly the aircraft on climb decent and sit in the front during cruise whilst learning through experience, it's a great time. Qantas and I think Cathay Pacific are the only airlines to have them.

  • They get to do the boring parts. ;)

  • But don't they get a chance to try some takeoffs or landing?

  • gopussycat no they cant

  • Yes they can. They have to have australian permanent residency status or be a citizen. They also have to pass VCE or equivalent.

  • Nice video!

  • Great video!

  • how cool is this :D

  • can a french go to qantas cadet?

  • yes

  • can an american

  • You must have permanent residency status or be an Australian citizen.

  • No.

  • first view and comment! i might enrol when im older
