  • Indeed, Andrew279144

  • bobby mcferrin brought me here

  • Breathing is the answer!

  • What about a marriage, Irena? We'll be happy...

  • Don't you hate it when you're playing such a beautiful song then your grandfather starts speaking in a loud ass voice? Just messes up everything!!. >:[

  • This Prelude is an exquisite gentle jewel all on its own. Nicely played too.

BTW: This piano is very nearly perfectly in tune. And to the tuning conversation below: Pianos don't go 'proportionally' out of tune. Each note is independent and each note has 3 strings... so it's even possible for one note to be out of tune with ITSELF.

  • This music is timeless and wounderfull it fells like ????

  • que musica no hay duda que le arte de los musicos clasicos no tenian comparacion

  • Excuse me Ms Koblar, I am also playing this piece for my grade. Have you got any suggestions how to make it sound nicer. My name is Student, Jordon.

  • 9 yrs ago i bought one of those musical mobiles , the ones you put over your babies cot to help them sleep.i would watch her drift off to sleep to this piece every night, megan is is almost ten and if i play this piece there is a calm about her, like an angel has whispered in her ear.

my daughter along with this music are two gifts god gave me

and i am so humbled by both.

  • I can play this better than her and I am grade2!

  • @kittenmn arnt you a little young to be making youtube videos?

  • its so beautiful the song and I play this song and I love it

  • Beautiful!

  • Is it correct that Bach wrote this piece as a finger exercise ?

  • Deus seja louvado!ai está a prova de sua perfeição em tudo que faz!

Performance de tirar o fôlego, e Bach semplesmente dispença meus comentários!

  • Me encanta. Gracias.!

  • @eagleprodigy has i respect your comment I steel have to refer that there should be no limits or rules to beauty. Try to free yourself from the boundries of society and you'll live so much aware of the place where true art and genieus live. After all, genius composers had to break with what was considered normal to bring a new form of beauty. forget about what is wrong or right... free yourself. peace

  • Why are experts always sayn "its too slow.." or " Its not barroque style". Who cares?? Doesnt the beauty of the music surpases all that? Isnt the beauty the all point? This version is the most touching IMO.

  • Just a dream...

  • This interpretation is too romantic for me,

  • Whst about the fugue??? :((((

And such a slow tempo doesn't sound in stile, just at least taking into consideration Baroque music and technical possibilites of harphicord or clavicord'

  • I know nothing of playing an piano. But I like this (slow) interpretation.

  • I like her interpretation.

  • @ffernandez1975

you are an idiot! frustrated loser ... you have no idea what is music for!

  • @Coxokinski I see that you like Chopin from that comment. :D

  • @Coxokinski It's very pretty, and she plays it very well, but I see what he means about Bach having wrote it as a "study" piece. The song just wanders around and never resolves on anything. It seems more like an exposition on chord theory than a piece of music.

  • freedom of speech, first amendment.

  • Wonderful performance, but has anyone else noticed that the piano is a little out of tune??

  • @Andrew279144 What the problem ? +1, +2, or -1, it will still be ok, because all the notes are also "out" of original tune, understand ? :)

    She just transposed !

  • @2573166 The piano she is playing is a Steinway D - possibly the finest piano available. It is out of tune - period. Not just a case of 'transposing up or down +1 +2', like you would a cheap Yamaha keyboard. And its got nothing to do with 'original tuning'. For such a fine pianist to have to play such a badly prepared instrument is a great shame. That's all i meant......

  • @Andrew279144 I know what is to be out of tune in a real piano, it wont be an integer value tuned, +1 or +2 was an example lol

But my opinion is that when you are playing piano alone, there is no problem if the piano is a little out of the tune, since that all the notes are proportional, understand ?

But when playing together a band, it's obviously that piano must be ok

How you discovered that was out of tune ?

Are you a absolute pitch person?

    Only for know haha

  • @30inventionman Why do you post comments like this? - i would like to try to understand what is going through your mind.

  • @Andrew279144 I simply made the observation that the piano is slightly out of tune - what's your problem?

  • While Bach was limited to harpsichord or organ, I think he was visionary: he saw the possibility of was could yet be. Irena has shown us one such possibility. She, and her playing are commendable.

  • Good interpretation. However, Bach is a musician from the baroque period. And so, his pieces were not made to pianos but to harpsichord and organ. And these instruments did not have a pedal that would sustain the sound of the chords. SO, if you want to play bach, you should NOT play it with a pedal like she did! But good job

  • omg!! im learning how to play this song :D

  • this is actually supposed to be played as a duet with Ave Maria.

  • @dobedowhop No, Gounod acctually took a Bachprelude, transposed it and added an melody he composed himself for a solo-voice, not a duet with the Virgin Mary.

  • @kevindn41 You sound like you're suffering from severe mental retardation.

  • Waw ! It is so sensuel ! So beautiful ... :)

  • Muy buena interpretación.

  • no, JureGordan is right, this is a piece. You can say song all you want but regardless it's still incorrect.

  • @hypacam12 true indeed

  • @JureGorucan its my understanding that people don't like what you wrote.

  • Beautiful interpretation! Slow, much slower then the other pianists... but yes, tender beauty must be slow. :)

  • did guno wrote music acording this pice? ! beautiful music

  • I'm not a fan of classical, but this is beautiful :) I play piano :)

  • Kevin shut up if you dont understand , this piece is beautiful and that can play also amateurs :)

  • absolutely gorgeous piece...bach is such an amazing composing

  • This annoys me because she looks so damn angelic. But hey, I'm just jealous that I'm not that happy :)

  • @Terimatsu Touche! :) hahaha

  • This is the perfect speed. She plays it beautifully. (Both my kids played this piece cleanly at age 6.)

  • she's playing it wrong!!! skipping the fifth note in each section DX

and something i notices that allot of people do... WHEN A PIECE IS MARKED ALLEGRO THAT DOESN'T MEAN PLAY IT AS SLOW AS YOU CAN!!!!!!!!!!! ...duh

im sorry but that just annoys the crap out of me. if your not going to play it right it's called an improvisation SO LABEL IT THAT!!!!! ...DX

but otherwise it was very pretty :)

  • @incurablepoisonn Bach didn't write any tempo markings for this prelude.

  • @sharonf123 crotchet = 108

  • @xJayTeex Bach gave no tempo indications. The metronome hadn't been invented yet. This indication (=108)was added by a publisher NOT the composer at a later date. No one knows how slow or fast the composer wanted it played.

  • @xJayTeex not only was the metronome not invented, but Bach didn't even give a tempo indication such as "allegro" or "moderato". He could have, but he didn't for almost all of the Well Tempered Clavier, with one or two exceptions.

  • @incurablepoisonn Bach didn't write any Tempo in the whole Well Tempered Clavier, except in the c minor prelude of WTC1 (first nothing, then Presto, Adagio, and finally Allegro) and I think in the g minor prelude of WTC2 (something like Largo) In the rest of the pieces, there is NO indication regarding tempo. That being said, this performance here is way too slow for my taste.

  • She's playing this piece so romantic...

  • Hi everyone, I'm looking for advice as to which are the best interpretations of this piece available in YouTube. Any suggestions?

    Thanks.

  • @davidmartinsvideos

I really liked Konstantin Lifschitz's interpretation:

    watch?v=BDu3RfWzS_U

I think it's beautiful, but I'm not sure it's exactly um.. standard.

  • u know shes not playing that,,,, DONT U ??

    what ??!

  • out of sync :/

  • Irena is sure amazing! I'm studying Bach's Preludes & Fugues too!

  • @najval2 No he glorified God in song, and concert.

  • such a simple piece played so wonderfully

  • such a simple song played so wonderfully

  • Beautiful piece and beautiful pianist :)

  • @najval2 Influenced by God.

  • Is it me or was the clapping really underwhelming?

  • Hi I'm learning this now, how should I use the sustain, ie at what point in each measure shd I lift it and re-apply it - thanks

  • idk... for my opinion, that piece is pretty boring...

i mean, come on. compare it to, for example, Fantasie Imprompto by chopin.

    just hear it.

  • @aviza12 Comparison of Bach and Chopin is similar to comparison of water and bread

  • @Alanargus why is that? and telling me that they are "completely uncompromisable" just won't cut it :\

  • so touching...just beautiful...

  • Shutuuuuup.I'ts beautiful.

  • isnt this bachs ave maria? this piece is perfect for the piano and a violin...

  • @TinyFloyd Actually its Gonoud's Ave Maria, cause he adapted Bach's piece.

  • @TinyFloyd No, this is the first prelude from the Well-Tempered Clavier. Gonoud added the melody and Latin Ave Maria lyrics. But that was about 110 years after Bach's death. Though Bach did write many pieces with religious meaning (like Passions), Well-Tempered Clavier is not one of those. It contains Prelude and Fugue pairs in all 24 major and minor keys. It's goal was to introduce the so-called 'well temperament' (also called circular), which was much easier than Meantone used back then.

  • thats alot of claps for an easy song lol

  • @JAMxSkalla16

the hardest thing about easy pieces is consistency

  • @CtrlAltDaLEET ugh so true. some people learn to play songs, but other then the notes you have to learn the emotion of the song as well, and that is tricky with this song

  • @JAMxSkalla16 Its not about the difficulty but about the interpretation :3

  • @JAMxSkalla16 Did you know, it may be easy to play a piece, but not so easy to play it well.......grow up.

  • @TheWonkydonkey lol grow up? im 28 and i get paid to play piano. it was a fucking joke you smug shit. you fucking grow up

  • @JAMxSkalla16 Do you also get paid for your people skills?

  • i can play this song perfectly. errrrmmm its meant to played faster. but it still sounds good. :D

  • bellissimo

  • wow the claps were weird

  • perfect!

  • So it's a piece, not a song

    that's sad :(

  • I can play this song but not as good as her. Nice piece!

  • @Theunknown9977 AHHAHAHAHA

  • @jtfraijo Yeah Haha... 8S

  • this is so beautiful...thank you for sharing

  • Danke für dieses Wunderschöne Stück, Ich mußte weinen. Vielen, vielen Dank

    Andy from Germany,

  • slovenia je zakon all slovenians visit slovenian101 for lessons!!!!!

    music rocks

  • This is so beautiful... I would like to play like she does! It makes me feel peace in my heart. Thank you for aharing this with us.

  • I love it! Sounds lovely the way it is!

  • What a lovely piano...

  • 100000.

  • CREN DEUS PADRE...

  • Using both 4 and 5 fingers to play a key is not a mistake, it's just easier, as it does not strain the fingers, and helps you have a more relaxed attitude. Also, she has long fingers and this helps in having a better control when playing as you can press with just the right amount of pressure on the keys.

  • Difficulty isn't everything. Look at Chopin, his works are extremely technical, and yet some of his most beautiful pieces are the simplest of them all.

  • They could at least tune the piano.

  • Hmm, she omits the last mordent in the end for some reason? I'm almost sure that there should be a upper mordent from last E before D in there.

  • @jalava78 You're wrong. there is no bite.

  • This piece is incredibly easy to play, even to play well (especially on such a nice piano). And that is not what I'd call a huge audience... :P

  • was the piano intentionally bit outta tune on some high keys? Heya I noticed she doublepresses key with both 4 & 5 fingas!!! I thought that was a mistake no pro ever does, only me!

  • The first piece I learned how to play from Bach, but not as good as this

  • all of you bragging about how you can play it, how about performing it?

    HUGE difference

  • song song song song song

  • This piece isn't difficult, I played it too and I'm not very good at all :p

  • i could probably play this piece, doesn't seem too difficult

  • its an intermediate piece, but to make it sound this good takes great skill

  • while listening to this record just close your eyes and enjoy... peace of mind!

  • This is a realli hard piece to play so no1 say its easy, but its very good

  • This is the first piece i have learnt on piano, I'm doing it without sheets and I'd like to raise my hand and say it's not easy! and it's not easy to make it sound as good as this.

  • You guys... it's not a SONG. grr.

    Use word "piece" please!

  • hmm ure right. im not used to discussing music in english so using "piece" seems kinda odd xD

  • @JureGorucan youre a pompous idiot. its both a song and a piece. thanks for the technicality though.

  • @xxWayoftheSunxx sorry if i sounded arrogant, don't you have something better to do than judge other people without even knowing them? maybe i'm not an idiot.

Anyway, this particular piece is under any circumstance not a song, because bach wrote it as instrumental piece and it has nothing with verb "singing" where word "song" origins from. I won't argue about this anymore but stop flamming now.

  • @JureGorucan whahaha indeed ;) !

  • @JureGorucan BANGING CHOON!

  • @JureGorucan stop being such a musical snob

  • @JureGorucan Im sorry but have a wa, its that a big deal, just saying, no offence

  • @JureGorucan Its a beautiful song, a beautiful piece, a beautiful prelude, a beautiful flower, a beautiful moon, a beautiful sea, a beautiful tree, a beautiful story, a beautiful composition, and a beautiful girl :D

  • @silazioz

You forgot to mention the piano :D

  • Comment removed

  • @silazioz It sounds like you were watching the vid, and then a hurricane put a car-sized whole in your roof, to which you then proceeded to describe the beauty of all of the things you then saw. After your roof was gone, you described the beauty of the moon up in the sky, refreshing waves of coastal sea water blown into your home, a large tree that just took out the racks on your wall, which caused your favorite book to fall, realized the beauty of the song again, then the cadaver came in......

  • @JureGorucan If it sings its a song, try calling it a song for a week and it wont bother you so much when other people do. Although this ones kind of a piece of a song, as there's another part that goes with it (I think) but it is a very nice piece, I just wish she sung it more..... otherwise Great job on the song!

  • @JureGorucan it's a song and a oiece too asshoule

  • @JureGorucan

    Song, piece, whatever.

  • why do ppl think that just because a song is "simple" any1 can make it sound beautiful? sure it is simple allright but theres a reason why she's a famous pianist and shes playing this instead of a 10 year old who can play it without making mistakes

  • i challenge anyone who thinks this is "simple" to create an equivalently marvelous piece of music. sure its simple for Bach, but not for me

  • I learned this song wihtout sheets.

the song itself is easy but learning stuff without sheets is always hard :P

    beautiful song!

  • @WoWClarity tell me about it, I'm learning it with sheets and I'm a beginner XP, its quite hard, but its a beautiful song

  • I can't stop listening to the piece, over and over again. It,s played beautifully and the pianist is beautiful to watch. A pleasure all around.

  • What are all these comments about mixing pmusic up? is this a DJ forum or a video about a masterpiece of music???

  • This songis quite simple. And an intermidate player, can play it. I do, how ever, agree that sh is making it seem like it's a extremly hard song that she had to practise. Beautiful song, well played, but yes, it's simple. Good Luck

  • @Jessibear85

an intermediate player can play nearly anything- but can they play it as well?

  • megakamkam111, - Moonlight sonata? how?

It can accompany "Ave maria" (Schubert)

  • @metteholm75 Schubert didn't write ave maria. Gounod did.

  • @TheUberLeetHax Schubert wrote one as well. Try "Schubert Ave maria".

  • I need to learn this.. amazing.

  • this song can be interverted into moonlight sonata

  • This is song is extremely simple, but she plays it like shes practiced it 400,000 times...flawless!

  • Is this song accesible to an itermediare piano level player?

  • YES!!!

  • Of course very easy, but u have to play the melody voice right, so the notes aren´t the problem...

  • whats wrong with using a pedal?! if bach had access to the pianos we have now ideas he would have been ignorant and foolish to ignore its pedals and their phenominal use. he was no fool, and so i bet he would have used one if he had one.

  • well he didn't so shut the fuck up ( uncle ruckus voice)

  • @bennis07 wow, thats really changed my mind.

  • I hate listening to clapping for a whole minute though...

  • Spine-chilling!!Just....Perfect!

  • couldnt help but play along... unfortunatly i was on a keyboard but the song is still brillant, Bach was brillant. It was beautiful =D

  • The best of the best. Played to perfection.

  • Music is pretty, and your pretty.Girls certainly kick ass! =D (lolzers btw I also am female and play the piano, but not that good=3)

  • Excellent!

  • beautiful, simply beautiful

  • does anyone notice that this video is off sync?

  • yes

  • Comment removed

  • I do agree about the pedal. It's a temptation to use the pedal in this piece, I do it myself... :) but it's not Bach anyway, using pedal.

About the rest of your commentary I disagree with you. Is one of the best performances of Prelude 1 I've heard.

I marked your comentary as good, it's strong but it's an oppinion.

The video is not off sync.

  • ?yes it is actually

  • the right speed on this one is the difficult part...beautiful!

  • Tamara...

  • its a dream....so touching and perfect....! No words.

  • the keys are very easy to this song, i can play them, but its the emotion part thats really hard

  • yes, finally someone put this up on piano.

my favorite piece to play, ever.

  • Masterful performance!
