Thank you so much for posting this. I have embeded this as part of my column The Sandbox at EyeOnSoaps (the Part 2 column.) It brought back so many wonderful memories, especially of Jake & Megan!
even with bo and nora reunion actually happening right now...FINALLY i might add...this vid still makes me cry esp when ya think about all the greatness we miss out on b\c they werent together:(
@biggerdouchebagjones i agree...they never should have and they should have reunited them several times in the last ten years...glad for the reunion now, but IMO i think the reunion would have worked better in the previous storylines...
@ThorneAstor,I finally figured that out few weeks ago, now that I am a huge fan of OLTL. Thanks, anyway :) Though, i do not know much about Herb/Dorian i know he was one of those men Dorian really loved, right? Apart of Mel, which she truly loves. I miss all of the couples here, although not a huge fan of Viki/Sloan, but i think Sloan was one of the standard men Viki ever loved. He was after all, a war hero, General.
And, Im so so happy that Bo and Nora is back together again, today.
If you want to know more about orian and Herb, I suggest you talk to dia1962. He knows all about him and Dorian. I'm not a big Sloan fan either. He's rather boring.
@substitute91 Sloan was definitely the least popular husband of Viki. When she married Ben I was happier mainly because that meant she was no longer Viki Carpenter. They should have shown Viki lose Joe.
This video makes me cry everytime I watch it...a lot of these couples were before my time, but the scenes are still heartbreaking...BO AND NORA absolutely need to be together! It was a crime to break them up
I don't remember the details of the fire. But that was tree Jake and Megan planted on their wedding day as a symbol of their life. Shortly after the wedding Jake left on assignment and was jailed in Jaba City. Megan became ill with Lupus. He returned while she was on her deathbed. He placed the tree outside the window of her hospital room. As she looked at the tree she dies in his arms.
i so remember the episode what was there songs that were played during the montage's im make a one life to live 40th montage and need to know what were he songs were played during the montage's.
wow, soo many memories. i think herb is and was the one great love of dorian's life. it broke my heart when megan died, but i remember when she woke up in the hospital bed and saw jake sitting there with her, after he'd been held captive all that time, THAT mde me cry harder. and tina and cord have always been one of my all time favorite couples.
cassie had herb's last name, but he adopted her, he wasn't her biological dad. problem is, i can't remember who her bio dad is. i'm not sure if it's renaldi or not. but i do know herb was her adaptive father for sure.
David Reynolds (whose real name was David Renaldi) was Cassie's biological father. He died of ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig's Disease (like the actor who portrayed him, Michael Zaslow).
That's right. Zaslow's best-known role is that of Roger Thorpe, who for years was the primary villain on "Guilding Light". But after he developed ALS, CBS/Proctor & Gamble fired him, because they felt that Roger couldn't be allowed to look weak.
ABC & OLTL happily snatched him back up as David Renaldi, wrote his disease into the storyline, and kept him on until he died.
Of course, the baby Tina was holding and passing off as her own was not C.J. (her son with Cord), but Max & Gabrielle's son Al Holden. He grew up, fell in love with Marcie Walsh, died, and his soul was transferred to Michael McBain.
Great trip down memory lane! I am surprised that I never saw this before. Great choice of couples. Man, I will never forget Tina bursting into that wedding with the baby, or how my fragile teenage heart broke into a million pieces when Megan died in Jakes arms, and when Luna said goodbye to Max.
They showed Viki and Sloan, her most uncharacteristic choice in a man.
I think they should have shown couples like Viki and Clint, Viki and Joe, Jake and Megan, Max and Luna, Max and Gabrielle, Tina and Cord, Rafe and Samantha, Bo and Didi, Bo and Sarah, Bo and Nora, Larry and Meredith, Larry and Karen, Vinnie and Wanda, Ed and Carla, Dorian and Herb, Brad and Jenny, Tony and Pat.
I think that goes over a good set of tortured OLTL couples.
Of course, you can't mention Ed & Carla without talking about the earlier pairing of Scottish-American Dr. Jim Craig and Italian-American Carla Benari. Carla turned out to be a light-skinned African-American named Clara Grey who was passing for White, much to the dismay of her dark-skinned mother Sadie. Even today, roughly 40 years later, it stands out as one of the best storylines in soap history.
I SO remember this montage. BUT I thought the music was "Tomorrow" by Michael Kisur. On his website he has this montage set to his song, saying this was the part featuring his song.
Watching the video from his site, I CLEARLY remember it being his song because I remember bawling and remember the part with Sloan's funeral
The original ABC airing featured this Staind song, but the same-day SoapNet reairing (and the ABC rerun around Christmastime) featured a different song, presumably the one you're talking about.
No, sorry. I only have the episode taped from its original ABC airing. Are you sure this man's song wasn't played during the Viki/Clint montage earlier in the episode? That never changed in any of the airings I watched.
I think that show is on its way back. With Allison Perkins back and all the different storylines coming to a head, I think we're in for some entertaining stuff.
@buckeyegirl1978 I think showing Joe & Viki would have been much more appropriate if they wanted to show her lose a husband. Viki has said thru the years that if he never died they would never had divorced.
@bigal650 Yeah--Joe's would've been more appropriate. The funeral of Joe Riley was on YouTube at one pont, but think the user closed down. Still much much more appropriate for this montage...

@softsable79 And didn't Megan die near Valentine's Day and that was the reason that Jake had it decorated with hearts? That's a pretty old clip!

@mrob75 Yes she died like a week before Valentine's Day but years later when Viki talked about her death she says Megan died on Valentine's Day.
