  • She's so pretty and I love her version of this song :D

  • Very beautifully done

  • SQUARE ENIX: Miss Aki, we know you like to wear casual wear to our concerts, but can you please dress according to the occasion this time? Black Tie, don't forget, please? ~Your friends at SE *Angela goes to her closet* hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm *Sees black dress* ~Minutes later at the concert~ *Angela is wearing her casual clothes AGAIN* PROBLEM SE AND AUDIENCE??? TROLOLOLOLO SquareEnix: ....... She's gonna sing for another FF installment right?
  • Both sides should stop comparing and just listen to the damn music.

I love hearing covers of great songs. They're all good in their own ways, so just drop it.

  • ey ich hab was unanständiges entdeckt

  • Too cheerful. I want heart breaking sorrowful Eyes on Me ;(

  • 84 Fake Ears xD

  • She song this song too directly. In fact, the song needs the singer put more soft and deep emotion in it.

  • I like it how she puts her own feel to it but i wish she would stop rushing her words :/

I love the tempo but i dont think it matches the words and feeling as much as faye's

  • All I have to say is...This version is more like showing off her skill...But Faye's one with feeling... Listen to Faye's other songs and you know she has really good skill as well ( It's in Cantonese though) and Aki's breathing is really a let down of the song

  • Comment removed

  • from a technical standpoint angela's breathing loses to faye's

  • @yoshinori31 Technically, she's half-Japanese. She's the one that sang Kiss Me Goodbye in both English and Japanese.

  • @yoshinori31 Angela is half.

  • @yoshinori31 what a stupid reason

  • steinway&sons... the best piano in the world

  • She's not very pretty, but she's sexy as hell... know what I mean?

  • whenever sang m song ona stage on my ohh whenever said these war wishin they would be her uh saw ya smile at me was it real or just my fannesee? youd always be there in teh conner of this tiny littel baw. my last night here with you same old songs just once more My last night here with you maybe yes maybe no i kind of lied it your way how you shyly laid your eyes on me did jew ever no that i had my on you darly so there you are with that look on your fay as if you never her as if you never da

  • Can anyone tell me where i can get this song on cd?

  • I don't like the fact that she speeds up on some parts of the song. The original is better because it's slow and takes its own pace, giving off that mellow effect.

  • Quando é que algo assim vem pro Brasil....? ¬¬

  • I do prefer Angela Aki's version. It makes me happy, because it's so simple and genuine. Just her voice and the piano. She had her own take on the song, and I was happy for that.

  • This is an interesting cover... not good, but interesting. I'm not a fan of how she constantly overpowers her own instrument, an amateur mistake. There's no harmony between em

But the worst part is that it doesn't keep with the spirit of the original song at all.

Faye Wong aside, I honestly prefer some of the "amateur" covers on Youtube to this one.

And whomever called this "American" should be slapped. It's very much still in the realm of Japanese Classical (not classical Japanese) music.

  • i like faye wong much better

  • Julia!!!

  • faye wong is better.......

  • @RinoaGreek Yeah i think Faye Wong is much better too

    much warmer feelings

    really Faye is much better

Well Angela is good too though

  • this sounds pop

    faye forever

  • Angela Aki is a superb singer. I think she is one of the few extremely talented singers in the world (like Faye Wong, Sarah Brightman, Sarah McLachlan). I can see why some people prefer her version over Faye's. I like Aki's cover, and if anyone's going to do it, it is her. But whose do I prefer? I still prefer Faye's. There is something ethereal and otherworldly about her voice and the way she chose to sang it. If both songs were released at the same time, I'd prefer hers. (But Aki rules too : )

  • @TimW405 i dont know bout that ;))

  • i love her. but.. she looks like austin kincaid! hehehe

  • Faye Wong's is prettier, but this version is more authentic to Julia.

  • @justa16thnote indeed

  • She is amazing. Angela Aki's version is better, obviously. She sings beautiful and her notes are sweet and delicated. And her compositions, are the best I ever heard. She is just, the best compositer of Japan for me.

  • Good!

  • Amazing.

  • This solo version is how I always saw this being sung. A singer in a little back ally bar singer her love for the guy up the back

  • good

  • I like the Faye version better

  • I remember when I kept singing this version on my DVD (I put a microphone and sung it XD),that was about 2 years ago..I love her version, sometimes I think it's better than Faye's..Well it depends on the moment,I love classic and orchestral songs..And Faye's version is somekind of a orchestral (and original) version of this song..But sometimes I just get sick of orchestral and slow songs..Anyway,I think Angela's version is way better..

  • 75 people listen gigi d'alessio

  • @ thelittlestsakura

I reckon she was feelin the song, it was abit faster than the original.

But non the less an amazing performance, she's got an awesome voice.

  • I love the original song by faye. I know that people put FF8 and this together as it should be, and have very good memories playing the game. but don't hate Angela for covering this song, she did and excellent job at it.

  • watch?v=KDGMU6sdVBE&feature=related

  • I love the original best, but I really do like this cover... Except the mmhmms kind of killed it for me, they don't really fit to me.

  • Both singers give a different feelings.

Faye's is soft, sweet and bitter.

Angela's is strong, confident and more joyful.

    LOL that's how i feel =D

    (sorry for my bad english)

  • @shrll133 I agree with you :) Both are great singers with different ways of expressing themselves.

  • @shrll133

What about Ancient bards, there version is werry good to,

  • i think Faye Wong sing good than angele aki .....

  • this is a great cover! More direct and human that Faye's, who in turn is much more dreamy and romantic in her original rendition of the song!

  • comparison of 2 different singers singing the same song is pointless, you can sing whatever song you wanted to, it's a free world.

  • I think Angela's version is more of a...direct confession to the guy that you asked him to come to your concert. She's singing her heart out and she's been waiting to confess to this guy for a long time and finally has the guts to do so on stage. Faye's version is a much of a soft, shy, romantic love song. She is singing on stage, but she's still shy and still wondering whether the guy she likes also feels the same way about her. I prefer Faye's, since that's how I feel. Hahaha :D

  • I use to hate this version, but after a few years I've grown to like it more each time i listen to it. Guess it just grows on you after a while. but i still perfer my ex gf version of this song lol.

  • @ghany02 The other version is Faye wongs original. She has a Chinese accent.

  • lol no engrish version of the song

  • Although I love Faye version because it was slow, elegantly sang, I think this version is very good. A cover is when an artist put their own creative ways on it instead of just copying the original. That and the fact that she's at a concert where people wanted to listen to her own songs made the faster version less awkward IMO. Also there's no denying that Aki has an amazing voice and this was live.

  • Love this. Never heard Angela Aki, but I will after listening to this.

  • still like the original one...this one make me feel a little bit weird

  • Hey, I've got the same glasses!

  • Comment removed

  • I lol'd at the line, "I'm more than the dress and the voice," I don't see Angela Aki wearing a dress xD I love her voice and style! Beautiful music <3

  • So far I've yet to be disappointed in anything I've seen or heard from her ^.^ definately someone worth sharing!!!

  • angela aki's version is x100 better.

    at least, i think so.

  • Great version though I have lots of nostalgia attached to the original :D

  • what is the name of this live? I want to watch the whole live. By the way, Angela's great¬!!!!!!!!

  • @sangsama007 VOICES - Music from Final Fantasy :) try google it, still can be found ;]

  • I like Aki's version, has its own unique feel to the song, no doubt she's a great singer. I still prefer Faye's version though, it captures the feel of FFVIII and blends perfectly with Raine's character (at least for those who loved the game).

  • Good voice but it can't catch you complete, like it was in Faye orig.ver...

  • this version is much much better than the original. her voice is absolutly awesome.

  • Everyone is dressed so formally.

She's in a sweater and jeans.

    Teehee.

  • I have to admit, i prefer this version.

Don't get me wrong, I absolutely adore Faye Wong's version because it's not only good, it never fails to remind me of a few parts of the game; the bar, Ragnarok and the credits.

While this does remind me of the game, it hasn't got that sentimental value or emotional context Faye Wong's version has got.

However, i do think that she puts more feeling into the song with her voice and certainly makes it her own. I love the piano as well.

    Both are great.

  • Comment removed

  • This version is better then the original in my opinion. Being be able to speak both Japanese and English, you can see it works to her advantage.

  • Nah. With all due respect to Angela and to anyone, this song is Faye's. It was designed to be for Faye Wong's voice. And the musical arrangement of the original it's just unique. The original song, with Faye's voice and emotion and with the musical arragement, exactly reflects what the song is about. I woudn't imagine this cover in a modern Final Fantasy VIII remake, it wouldn't just be as emotional as the original one. There's only one Eyes On Me, and that's Faye's.ButcongratstoAki'sperformance

  • @thepandy2007 i like this version, as much as i like Faye's. I agree with you: the 2 have different styles. Aki's version is a little lighthearted and may be used as part of the game with the same light hearted atmosphere. Faye's version is just right to establish a romantic drama between Rinoa and Squall.

  • guess I'm one of the few here who prefer Faye's version. this one is too...contemporary. the piano arrangement along with the tempo and Aki's vocal style makes this song sound too much like a regular pop song to me. I love the arrangement in Faye's version..it just sounds so classic and much more emotional to me. And on top of that of course there is the nostalgic feel to it.

  • AA english sounds better or they have sorted out the lyrics therefore made the song nice to listen to without cringing. Perhap Faye to sing it in Japanese this song then... Anyway prefer Fay sing in Mandarin. sorry that's my opinion.

  • Wonder how much that piano costs? :)

    Amazing cover!

  • this is the version i've been looking..^^

  • I like both versions, but I like the high energy in this more, I would put both of them in the game. this one in the bar and Faye's in the ending

  • From a technical standpoint, Angela is the more skillful singer of the two.

But Faye's version wins because of nostalgia. : )

  • i love both versions :)

  • she's really a great singer even some of her song is revive... i love all of it... ^_^

    Keep On, Angela Aki!!! XD

  • Aww~

    I wished she held that,

"Darling so there you areee." at 3:32

A bit long, about as long as the

"Who pinches you softly, but sure." at 3:51

This cover is amazing, love you Ange~

  • i really dont know which version i prefer...it's like comparing apples and oranges. i will say, Angela seems much more relaxed and melodious and confident. and her voice just has this...uplifting quality (all reasons why i feel this is more like Rinoa's version of eyes on me). Faye's version, though gorgeous, is a lot more...stiff. but it stresses the romantic qualities of the story. and her voice is gorgeous. but, like i said, they're both amazing, though i prefer Angela Aki as an artist/singer

  • @shadowsoflove3 I agree with you as in there is no point in comparing the two versions. Angela Aki sings english better but Faye has a very serene voice that suits this song.

  • I prefer this version because:

    a) The piano fits with Julia's occupation as a jazz pianist, and is more fitting than the orchestral version.

    b) Aki sorted out the grammar! I'm sorry, I just couldn't enjoy the original because the English, while pretty good by Japanese standards, just kept bugging me.

  • Vastly prefer this Faye's version. Not to say I dislike Faye's but Aki's rendition is just too awesome.

  • I prefer this version. Of course I would put Faye's version in the game, as the mood is appropriate (especially for that Ragnarok scene!) but I believe that Angela's version is more appropriate to be played in a bar, which is where Julia first played it :)

  • I prefer the slower version

  • it is not a bad singing and skill however this DO NOT match what the lyric and tittle and especially FF8 world. We all know what world FF8, with all romance, magic and all thing extra ordinary. This song may be can be good for a party..

Too fast in moving even she has powerful voice

Not sure if some one can feel the same

  • This version gives me the Thrills. She's just amazing. I like her intonation way better!

  • I love this.. because she is in a such sophisticated place right now.. at an important event and she dresses like w/e... like a regular person.. I think she has done this more than once ! <3 Angelia Aki! such a down to earth person.

  • This version is much much better than the original!

  • Was this with The Black Mages? I like Faye's feel better but very good!

  • Is the lyrics different from faye wong's verion?

  • Holy shit....wow. Love this version....I've always hated vocal versions of eyes on me...this is an exception *_*

  • beautiful cover~

  • she's good at unplug ~

  • Interesting.

  • This video...bought about an emotional response from me. Beautiful. I want this played when I re-propose to my wife.

  • Much, MUCH better than the original. People can harp all day about minutiae, but in the end, it's all nostalgia goggles.

  • @eskeesm na, faye wong's version is much more intimate and emotional imo.. her voice has character .. angela aki is a good vocalist no doubt, but it just sounds like any mtv pop star .. good version in it's own right.. but not nearly as meaningful and emotional as faye wong's imo.

  • I'm starting to like this version best....

  • she has done a great job really..

but she couldnt give the natural and touching feeling through the song, especially in chorus part. she did sing it too hard. the sound of 'you" is weird just like "whoooo"

when u listen it u will instantly think 'o she can really sing, great technique" but u wont feel touched and the sound wont continue to run all over ur head after the song finishes, which is unlike that of faye.

  • Maybe better than the original ... but in all case, great and original !

  • ow i love it! so romantic! (^^)

  • so natural compare to Faye Wang version....

  • both singers are good imo. but i do prefer faye's version @__@ seems to be able to bring the sadness of the song. the tempo for this version seems bit too fast for me. doesn't brings out the "sad" mood lol.

  • At first I was skeptical but... c'mon, this is GREAT! I honestely prefer Angela's version to Faye's, despite the latter has the "first time impression thing" deeply carved into my mind :)

  • her voice is just SO amazing !!

  • An amazing artist.

  • she looks like the protagonist from the game bayonetta, don't know the name of the protagonist, never played the game..

  • her name is bayonetta

  • I think Faye's version is much better... Angela is talented but her voice is, I'd say, very common.

  • how great!! she took the song and made own her =)

  • this is a very hard song to sing. the lyrics are very harsh in contrast to the song.

but she contrasts the two perfectly. well done. better than faye wong.

  • nice work. i like this song alot. good voice.

  • For some reason the japanese say she looks like bayonetta.

Oh yeah, and i don't dislike Faye's version but i'd take this one over it any day.

  • @Cetramarius

    Your'e the man!

  • LOL....I have no clue what a patato sounds like...I think it is a real shame that such a beautiful song ,brings the feeling of hate to you.I think Angela Aki is a great singer/musician/songwriter,Yet even if I may not like someones version or song,I would not HATE it...I hate crime,I hate knowing that there are people with no food or no place to live,etc...I dont hate anything thats pertaining to music......

  • I personally really like this cover.

  • Stop trolling.

People have their own preferences, you can't stop them from liking what they do.

Personally, I like the original and this one.

  • Sorry guys Faye's version is better... 3:57-4:02 sucked!!!

  • she's got a more powerful voice, but it doesn't suit the song. she also isn't focussing on the words and what they mean, she's just singing them. you can tell because every line is sung the same. I also don't like what she's done with the accompaniment it also changes to mood of the song drastically from the original, and again, i feel it doesn't match what the song is actually about.

all that said, i still appreciate that she made it her own, and attempted a different cover.

  • @thelittlestsakura She sings every line the same? I think you need to listen to this again...

  • @thelittlestsakura it is a fantastic cover.

  • im kinda surprised they let her rock up wearing that xD she sings it well =) like someone said before, its liek a Rinoa version and faye wongs is a Julia version

  • wow..................

  • Defintiely beautiful. Better than Faye. This english version really showed the lovely feeling. This should be sing this way.. Faye doesnt sing the feeling out. The slow melody help faye voice in voicing the romantic feeling. Angela is the creator of the lovely feeling. I can feel the passion in the lyric more with Angela's singing.

  • Hi, there! As far as I know, Angela is half Japanese and half American.

Her mum is American and her dad is Japanese.

  • iLERRVEE DISS SONGG. Very... TOUCHING. makes mehh feel.. sad. :[

    dinkin boutt moments in relationship

    あしてる ANGELA SAN ♥ !

  • maybes it just me. but she seemed a little nervous in her performance at the beginning then. unless she went through some of the words fast on purpose?

  • I noticed that too. I much prefer Faye's version, although Angela's version is pretty too in its own right.

  • i think theres a lot more...more to this performance than some of fayes...more atmosphere...i do prefer it personally...still respecting Fayes of course..

  • if you think Faye's version is better then by all means go listen to it, but the point of a cover is to add your own personal style of artistic value to it, if she were to just sing it exactly as Faye did it might as well just be karaoke.

  • @Mck4yyy Both are great versions

  • @Mck4yyy that is so true! You need to have a lot of talent to make a variation in a song and make it sound good at the same time. It's also nice to listen to different versions of a song. It really highlights the artistic media of a song :)

  • Angela adds a bit of her own style into it and it sounds just as good as the original.

  • I didn't notice she was asian until she spoke un japanese =O

  • I totally agreed with silentangel1313

  • very bad,too fast

  • i like faye wong's version better, but this one isn't bad.... i guess i wasn't expecting the sorta upbeatedness of it, considering how soft and serene the song usually is! it's way better than the japanese version tho ^^

  • Angela's version is hit or miss. It's really more upbeat jazzy feel to it.

The original (Faye's version) is more elegant and soft.

  • i cant agree more

"The original (Faye's version) is more elegant and soft. "

  • I like this version better too. Fay Wong is a really good singer, but somehow she's not singing this song very well. I don't know if it has anything to do with her English or not. Aki just puts the whole song together much more smoothly.

  • Well, ouf course it is not faye wong's eyes on me!! it is ANGELA AKI'S EYES ON ME. If you are looking for faye wong in this video, then i am telling you that you are watching a wrong video. This video is Angela Aki and her rendition of Eyes On Me.

  • It's not terrible, it's actually pretty good. It seems to suit SquallxRiona, which is a good thing. Since the original suited RagunaxJulia, and that romance never really happened. But both versions of this song are excellent, so don't be hating on this. Think of it a DIFFERENT song, and not the carbon copy of Faye Wong's version.

  • i really think that she did awesome

  • this isn't bad by any means (it's actually very good, but angela aki is singing so yeah of course it's gonna be good), it's just not Julia's eyes one me...it's more like Rinoa's version of eyes on me. more upbeat, and confident, like Rinoa.

  • Comment removed

  • people really need to read, she is the one that was hired for the original .

  • i like original version

thats not bad but not awsome

  • the problem is the song lost alot of the feeling of sadness and isolation with such an upbeat tempo.

The song had too much confidance so some of the meaning was lost.

    basicly epic fail.

  • Do leave this song to the makers.

  • can anyone translate what she's saying at the PLEASE!!!

  • Comment removed

  • You mean at the end? She was just saying about how that was Eyes on Me from Final Fantasy 8, and about how she will be singing Kiss me Goodbye next, it's about how the characters felt in their hearts. And that the voices orchestra would be playing with her.

  • thank you! do you speak japanese?
