thats pretty fucking lame, I was born in 1984 and "Stop Making Sense" is a great album and dvd you obviously are a spun out phish kid with no brain if you don't know that they cover the Talking Heads because they already know the aforementioned information. Check out some more diverse music its amazing whats out there
@benjammin107 You know David is still alive and well, right? Still writing music, books, blogs, making art installations, and other bizarre / wonderful things.
Not a lot of people realized that T Heads were really a riotous dance band. Tina and Chris rippin' as they always do, along with supporting cast. AWESOME!!! If you can listen to this while remaining seated all the way through, I have a doctor you need to see. YEAH!!!! Especially love the breakdown at 1:50 SMMMMMMMMOKIN'!!!!!
Tina Weymouth...her ability to sing melodies that rhythmically are totally opposed to what she's doing on bass never ceases to amaze me...listen to the Tom Tom Club's first album and you'll see what I mean...a great, great underrated musician...
who the fuck directed this... how did you get such access .. to. motherfucker... this rocks.... whenever i her this song, i feel like i'v been possesed by some kind of hatian-voodoo magic.
this is the best.
was this done a part of the rehersal fot the SMS concert ...? don't matter. i'm possesed.
@samsbro1952 no he definitely did hella cocaine thru the 80s and 90s (iirc he had the most problems with hard drugs during the 90s). But yea they were definitely fans of the white lady at the time. I mean they all did hella drugs - led to some awkwardness during 1980 tour bc adrian belew did not partake at all. I mean, he was a wonderfully creative person who clearly doesn't need drugs to make amazing music, but lets not pretend drugs werent an enormous part of talking heads.
@grenaderock Ok I hear you but who cares when it comes down to it. I mean was John on acid when he did Lucy In The Sky, or was Axl Rose on mushrooms when he recorded whatever the fuck he recorded?? Oh wait, excuse me while I kiss the sky
@samsbro1952 I mean word, but it still has significance in some sense imo. like yea i could give less of a fuck about if they were doing drugs or sober while writing in a gossipy sense. but I think that quite of few of their songs deal directly with themes about drug use, psychedelic experiences, etc. and also the drug use likely fueled tensions/paranoia that i think had an influence some of imagery and the overall sound.
@grenaderock man are you a music reviewer--if not you should be! OK so TH has drug imagery and maybe references it in their music. So what, dude? I honestly don't see what relevance it has to the songs and the appreciation of them..
@samsbro1952 haha :) yeah it doesn't make the song any better or worse - i just find the music really deep and engaging so i like to think about it and discuss with pretty much anyone who is too polite to tell me to shut up. its not necessary to do that to appreciate the music, I just like doing it.
@samsbro1952 YEAH! Who cares what they were on as they wrote and made their music. Like who cares that Jagger was on jagger the entire time? That drug will kill the normal human, it is an ugly thing, do NOT USE jagger.
i'll go completely bonkers anytime i hear this one. i mean ANYTIME since made & forever. not a pretty sight, i tells ya. do it on my own. there's no room anymore for this kind of disclosure. sad.
im making a list to count the cost of opportunity ! doing it right Facts are usleless in emergencies ! That line sent me spinning in 1980 and Ive never been the same since !
Yeah... that is GOOD all over! The first 50 seconds are especially Marvelous visually for me - the whole thing is fucking hot though - thank you. This is speaking to me.
I'd forgotten how much i loved this band, remain in light is one of the best albums of all time , an i've only just noticed from watching this just how thoroughly david byrne pi**ed all aver jarvis cockers pic nic before he even realised flour an water were the ingredients of bread.
we already have wonderwall, dont look back and live forever.... why more Oasis?? Atleast we got 5 awesome Talking Heads songs. I could wait a little longer for more Oasis
I can't believe this was so popular! I feel like that these days something can be good OR popular, but here we see that not too long ago, you could have both.
has anyone else heard the song where they sample this chorus or if its not sampled, it sounds exactly like it, its a fairly new song too, played on triple j.
This is what music was intended to do--POSSESS you! If you can't move to it or sing along or it doesn't provoke thought, it's not real music. Talking Heads will always be a fave band of mine.
Could not agree more! David Byrne is a god. And if this song doesn't bring your freak on and have you breaking out into your own little tribal dance, then clearly you must be dead inside!
i used to think this was the most funked out talking heads song ever, until i heard the great curve, for anyone that hasnt heard that check out live in rome on youtube,THE hottest shit known to man.

"Facts Are Useless In Emergencies". I think that was John Tory's unoffical election campaign slogan. Dalton McGuinty must have been playing this song after the election results poured in.
I saw Phish do this song live a few years back! it kicked off the second set and it was AWESOME!... still i have to say this blows that away to some extent...........
