  • Talking Heads were a paradigm shift.

  • Talking Heads broke up in 1991, they never covered Phish. Don't be so obtuse

  • @Niman1988 how are they covering phish..? or is that a different video?

  • thats pretty fucking lame, I was born in 1984 and "Stop Making Sense" is a great album and dvd you obviously are a spun out phish kid with no brain if you don't know that they cover the Talking Heads because they already know the aforementioned information. Check out some more diverse music its amazing whats out there

  • incredible !!!

  • This song makes me LOSE MY FUCKEN MIND!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I love how talking heads went out of their comfort zone to cover Phish.

  • Wow!

  • Byrne, Played by Cillian Murphy in the film.

  • Ah, se va a la mierda Byrne

  • @benjammin107 You know David is still alive and well, right? Still writing music, books, blogs, making art installations, and other bizarre / wonderful things.

  • hell yeah. I want to see the heads live too. One of the best bands of all time hands down

  • Not a lot of people realized that T Heads were really a riotous dance band. Tina and Chris rippin' as they always do, along with supporting cast. AWESOME!!! If you can listen to this while remaining seated all the way through, I have a doctor you need to see. YEAH!!!! Especially love the breakdown at 1:50 SMMMMMMMMOKIN'!!!!!

  • GETTING THE FUCK DOWN

  • I had almost forgot how good this was! Thanks sooo very much for posting.

  • Tina Weymouth...her ability to sing melodies that rhythmically are totally opposed to what she's doing on bass never ceases to amaze me...listen to the Tom Tom Club's first album and you'll see what I mean...a great, great underrated musician...

  • I think I would seriously kill people to go back in time and see one of these goddamn concerts.

  • GOD DAMN! That place is one huge dance party... love the Talking Heads!

  • Kickass song! I hope my coworkers didn't notice me convulsing in my seat. :p

  • who the fuck directed this... how did you get such access .. to. motherfucker... this rocks.... whenever i her this song, i feel like i'v been possesed by some kind of hatian-voodoo magic.

    this is the best.

was this done a part of the rehersal fot the SMS concert ...? don't matter. i'm possesed.

  • Tina Weymouth...Phew!!

  • Never was DB a heroin user Cocaine was his thing hence his many bouts of Psychosis!

  • @samsbro1952 no he definitely did hella cocaine thru the 80s and 90s (iirc he had the most problems with hard drugs during the 90s). But yea they were definitely fans of the white lady at the time. I mean they all did hella drugs - led to some awkwardness during 1980 tour bc adrian belew did not partake at all. I mean, he was a wonderfully creative person who clearly doesn't need drugs to make amazing music, but lets not pretend drugs werent an enormous part of talking heads.

  • @grenaderock Ok I hear you but who cares when it comes down to it. I mean was John on acid when he did Lucy In The Sky, or was Axl Rose on mushrooms when he recorded whatever the fuck he recorded?? Oh wait, excuse me while I kiss the sky

  • @samsbro1952 I mean word, but it still has significance in some sense imo. like yea i could give less of a fuck about if they were doing drugs or sober while writing in a gossipy sense. but I think that quite of few of their songs deal directly with themes about drug use, psychedelic experiences, etc. and also the drug use likely fueled tensions/paranoia that i think had an influence some of imagery and the overall sound.

  • @grenaderock man are you a music reviewer--if not you should be! OK so TH has drug imagery and maybe references it in their music. So what, dude? I honestly don't see what relevance it has to the songs and the appreciation of them..

  • @samsbro1952 haha :) yeah it doesn't make the song any better or worse - i just find the music really deep and engaging so i like to think about it and discuss with pretty much anyone who is too polite to tell me to shut up. its not necessary to do that to appreciate the music, I just like doing it.

  • @samsbro1952 YEAH! Who cares what they were on as they wrote and made their music. Like who cares that Jagger was on jagger the entire time? That drug will kill the normal human, it is an ugly thing, do NOT USE jagger.

  • great video whoever put this together

  • you did not do heroin with david byrne.

one of the best bands of all time no doubt

"if you can't dance to it, it's not real music"

what a douche you are ...

  • @Mikeyg161 agreed, theres music you cant dance to which is also is as good.

  • I like the Whirling Dervishes. This song is one of the best songs of all time. in Stop Making Sense, it is the Cherry on top of an incredible event.

  • 4 people wish they could jump rope.

  • MORE COWBELL!

  • Dance, dance..."Facts just twist the truth around"...dance, dance... Great!

  • Cool as hell.

  • Just excellent

  • this is what good music does to me. glad i'm not the only one.

  • This is what music was intended to do--POSSESS you! If you can't move to it or sing along or it doesn't provoke thought, it's not real music. Talking Heads will always be a fave band of mine.

  • Yeah if this song doesn't get you dancing crazy, you're dead inside. Awesome song and video.

  • Could not agree more! David Byrne is a god. And if this song doesn't bring your freak on and have you breaking out into your own little tribal dance, then clearly you must be dead inside!

  • Those were the good old days of great pop music!!!!!!

  • He is still a manic genius. Bit mellower but still a genius.

  • come back to see us. Your' really there.

  • So David Byrne is my life hero and I want to draw a portrait of his beautiful face.

    And I'm creepy.

  • "Facts Are Useless In Emergencies". I think that was John Tory's unoffical election campaign slogan. Dalton McGuinty must have been playing this song after the election results poured in.

  • ilove talking heads just wish i got chance 2 c them live

  • I'm still waiting!!!! for the reunion tour? Make it happen Dave!

  • I saw Phish do this song live a few years back! it kicked off the second set and it was AWESOME!... still i have to say this blows that away to some extent...........

  • hey it's Micki in a mini...she's so fine!

  • that guitar player is on fire...anyone notice a parallel between Dave and Gord Downie from the Hip...the stage movements and rapid fire delivery

  • I love the mix in footage..too funny...Dave reminds me a bit of Gord Downey of the Hip the way he moves and delivers the goods

  • Fact, facts, fact, facts. I am still waiting, still waiting. Dance, dance, dance, dance!

  • Thanks connected365...is there anymore?

  • That's it really. Still think it's brilliant. Video is occasionally on eBay...

  • Emmett believes the 7/29/74 "Let it Grow" jam alludes to this song.

  • Can you explain?

  • Wierd. He's talking about a Grateful Dead jam from 1974. Nice stuff that year, but I think SmelOdies' pal Emmett is caught in bad anachronism vortex, and neither of them know what they're talking about. My two yen....

  • Sharp as a knife!

  • facts are.. i dunno WOW!
