@indi1329pens She was 10 early this year before Mar 2011. Her age is well documented in the National dance community honey. She started 2009 as and 8 year old and turned 9 that March. No need to lie about anything! God makes us all in different shapes and sizes. Check out her 2011 solo's on YourDanceChannel.

To everyone who is questioning about her age, I do believe that she is 9. If you look at her very first performance video she looks much older than 5 in it. But other than that I love this routine very much. Some little wobbles here and there but she has a lot of potential! Keep Working Hard Girl:D

@Woots78 This piece was set-for a NYC ballet/modern audience/judges. The choreographers' focus was to give her unique/challenging material to appropriately showcase/stretch her-because of her "maturity" nothing shaky or cutsie. We respect & trust these choreographers & loved their work, her growth & the simple costume. We are at a new studio- they did a great job with MODESTcostumes & gorgeous lyrical solos for 2010--despite it all some still focus on her body not looking9-10 above all else.
@iLITTER5 Yes she was 7 and 8 in 2008--but most competitions listed her as a 7 year old because she was 7 as of Jan 1. In 2009 she was 8 and 9 during the season but once again she won her hscore and titles in the 8 and under category as she was age 8 as of Jan 1st. This year/season she was 9 and 10 but was listed at most competitions as a 9 year old because of their age as of Jan 1st rule. And yes next year 2011 she will compete many places as a 10 year old--get it?
@tdadancer18 Don't think we've had a chance to see your studio but we LOVE seeing Canadian studios at our competitions--that usually means strong technique, ballet, and great choreography. It is always so nice to see and learn from other dancers and the Canadian studio always bring it!
@contractandrelease Haha--knowing Kaitlynn she would get a kick out of that! Kaitlynn is amazing and Sophie is learning so much from her as well as the many other wonderful dancers at SDW. Spotlight has MANY stars and room for more---so many great dancers here contributing to SDW's unique, diverse numbers. Sophie certainly is lucky to train with the real STAR of SDW Miss Liz Schmidt and all the amazing staff and choreographers she brings to SDW program!
She is so incredible. I think she doesn't look eight/nine because she dances with so much maturity which is just incredible for a dancer her age!! But I've sen girls her size before at that age...
Anyway, the choreography was legit and I loved all of her performance. Plus, if she's this good when whe's eight, what's she going to look like ten years from now??? That will be INCREDIBLE to see!

she isn't - promise:) I think there are 3 girls in this family?? I have only ever seen 2 of them dance though so I am not positive. Just like her older sister, she looks and dances way older than she is but she truly was 9 (8 on 1/1 per the rules) when she did this.
Amazing, not only is she a fantastic dancer at such a young age, but for her to show the artistry in dance and not just tricks and turns is brilliant. She is going to be a huge force when she is older.
She was at Rochester School of Dance training only in ballet all last year. The ballet was wonderful there but she is young and really missed competitive dance so Missy LayZimmer & Andrew Hubbard choregraphed this piece. Her big sister was running them in the basement until right before Nationals and then the amazing Liz Schmidt of Spotlight Dance Works took over for a few weeks and got her ready for July Nationals. So now Sophie loves everything SDW & this is her new home.

Yes, she gets that all the time--takes her birth certificate with her!! She was 9 in March--she danced in the 8 & under category due to the age as of January 1st policy with most dance competitions.

She can`t be 8 because in 2008 i watched her "All that jazz" Solo and there she is 8 and this is 2009 so she can`t be eight 2 years in a row !

@iLITTER5 Yes she was 7 and 8 in 2008--but most competitions listed her as a 7 year old because she was 7 as of Jan 1. In 2009 she was 8 and 9 during the season but once again she won her hscore and titles in the 8 and under category as she was age 8 as of Jan 1st. This year/season she was 9 and 10 but was listed at most competitions as a 9 year old because of their age as of Jan 1st rule. And yes next year 2011 she will compete many places as a 10 year old--get it?

@tdadancer18 Don't think we've had a chance to see your studio but we LOVE seeing Canadian studios at our competitions--that usually means strong technique, ballet, and great choreography. It is always so nice to see and learn from other dancers and the Canadian studio always bring it!

@contractandrelease Haha--knowing Kaitlynn she would get a kick out of that! Kaitlynn is amazing and Sophie is learning so much from her as well as the many other wonderful dancers at SDW. Spotlight has MANY stars and room for more---so many great dancers here contributing to SDW's unique, diverse numbers. Sophie certainly is lucky to train with the real STAR of SDW Miss Liz Schmidt and all the amazing staff and choreographers she brings to SDW program!

She is so incredible. I think she doesn't look eight/nine because she dances with so much maturity which is just incredible for a dancer her age!! But I've sen girls her size before at that age...
Anyway, the choreography was legit and I loved all of her performance. Plus, if she's this good when whe's eight, what's she going to look like ten years from now??? That will be INCREDIBLE to see!

ll you she is not 8. look at her body developpement. her legs are so toned and she looks too mature. maybe she is 8.but if she is what r her parents feeding her? shes so mature and has a great body!

she isn't - promise:) I think there are 3 girls in this family?? I have only ever seen 2 of them dance though so I am not positive. Just like her older sister, she looks and dances way older than she is but she truly was 9 (8 on 1/1 per the rules) when she did this.

Amazing, not only is she a fantastic dancer at such a young age, but for her to show the artistry in dance and not just tricks and turns is brilliant. She is going to be a huge force when she is older.

She was at Rochester School of Dance training only in ballet all last year. The ballet was wonderful there but she is young and really missed competitive dance so Missy LayZimmer & Andrew Hubbard choregraphed this piece. Her big sister was running them in the basement until right before Nationals and then the amazing Liz Schmidt of Spotlight Dance Works took over for a few weeks and got her ready for July Nationals. So now Sophie loves everything SDW & this is her new home.

I thought she went to juliannas. lol I dance at sdw and she is soo nice. im amanda lol and I did some training at rochester too! its amazing. I had rennee. sophie will be brilliant. did she do this dance as an individual solo? or did she represent sdw?

She represented SDW at Nexstar-she won Title with the Climb solo her sister choreographed. For Showbiz the HighScore solo was this piece and she was representing Missy&Andrews studio they choreographed this piece.

Yes, she gets that all the time--takes her birth certificate with her!! She was 9 in March--she danced in the 8 & under category due to the age as of January 1st policy with most dance competitions.
