  • sounds great is that all thats been done the 40 webber ?, doing a stage 3 head, kent cam 45 webber, whole exaust to my 1275 probably change the clutch too, should do me until i can afford to do the b16a swap

  • What power it got?

  • Hi, i dont think the MOT man tests the loudness of the car in an MOT, but a policeman may stop you if he thinks it is too loud. saying that, i have been stopped before and the policeman said nothing about my loud carbs and exhaust. mines a 1275 engine in a 998 registered mini (hehe) its a 1982 y reg mini! but had a few re-sprays in its time i think. yeah most parts are from another car, hardly anything in my car is original lol shame it has no MOT now, need £500 spent on it to pass!!

  • I have a dtm exhaust back box on my mini and one other silencer along the car, i was thinking of putting a straight through exhaust on it. Would this be too loud for an MOT. Is yours a 998cc or 1275cc etc. I have a 998cc and was just wondering what the top speed should be? I have that steering wheel aswell, your car must be around the mid seventies unless you got it from another car? I notice you also have a different speedo and rev counter. Any videos outside the car, or some pics?

  • hey mate ya top speed depends on your final drive ratio...i think the city's had the highest top speed coz they were geared for cruising...what model is ur mini?

  • it wont matter for the mot but as gwionjones2002 said police may pull you over the other thing is if its not a particularly lairy engine it will have a bad flat spot if its an open exhaust i had that with my 998 when i 1st put a single box centre exit exhaust on it but it was fine when i put an 1 3/4 su carb on it

  • Great mini! Looks like its either British racing green or the almond green. I have a mini in almond green with white roof. Classic colours for a mini.

  • thanks! yeah british racing green! with white roof. i am thinking of selling it now as its a bit extreem as an every day car - fiberglass, lack of security, noise etc lol
