this is my version: i went up to fenway to see dropkick murphys play.... all the kids were pissed paying 9.50 for beeeers. the street dogs opened up and we fuckin missed them play.... then watched the bosstones with a bunch of pink hat queeeeeers we all faalll down but dropkick suuuuuuuucks nooooowww
a response to a old comment when playing california I have heard them sing " i went out west to see swinging utters play" but on the cd and when they play the east coast they always sing " stiff little fingers play" in the song.
Yes, I've got a bunch of McColgan-era DVD's, actually. Wish I had the show this video's from, but I don't. I also have the DVD of Al's first show with DKM, 7-17-1998 in Indianapolis, IN at Emerson Theatre :D
such a great tribute song. I see all ya goin on about al barr, the bruisser, mike McClogan, but cha missin the point of the song! its about one the greatest punk/oi bands ever!
In the earliest version of this song, they sang "I went out west to see the Swingin' Utters play". The Utters were very influential on the early DKM's. They were, and are, a great band as well.
I wouldn't even bother telling him he's wrong, Duke..I have never heard this version of the song he is talking about but I fuckin' believe him. And oh, I put your DVD's in the mail today, you should get 'em in a couple days. Let me know when you get them, Higgins!
@BlackHigginsClan How did that match with the lyrics about '77, Belfast and the bombs blowing (reference to the IRA and British oppression)? They must have re-written the whole song.
@Crazymike00 well i think that is about punk .... they sand : 77 pistols mae punk for me and you " .... an then " i can tell you they did not waste thier lives" or somthing like that . so for me is about staying punk couse punk is not just a phase
I like these people who are saying fuck Al Barr. The guy was a legend long before Dropkick was a twinkle in Ken Casey's eye. That being said early Dropkick was amazing. I'll never forget having to take the train to Rock N' Roll in Philly to buy Boys on the Docks and the ducky boys split. As much as I loved the ep, 7 inches, and first full length. Dropkick's best stuff is 'Sing Loud, Sing Proud' and 'Blackout'.
I don't know about Blackout being their best stuff. I love some of the songs on there like Fields of Athenry (I'm a big Celtic FC fan) and Works Song but some of the other songs are just okay. Time To Go was great aswell as Kiss Me I'm Shitfaced. And Yeah the people that are saying "Fuck Al Barr" and "Street Dogs are great DKM sucks now" don't realize that Barr was in the fucking Bruisers with Johnny from the Street Dogs. Bruisers were legendary.
The Bruisers should be even more legendary now that DKM have taken off. I love Al with the Bruisers...I still think American Night is the greatest song ever written. But, DKM with Mike was just flat-out amazing and some of the best shows I have ever been to.
alright Mike is better than Al, and the first EPs are classic...but new dropkick fucking rules, Blackout and Sing Loud are argueably their best albums, the new one is really good....Im not a hater of any go DKM
Man I love Al and all, but McColgan really was the soul behind DKM. Great vid! Still love their new stuff, although their latest album was a little awkward.
back then they were a totally different band with spicy, mccolgan, barton, etc....today's DKM still owns...look at what they did for Departed it's going to win Oscars
He played this on the 1st night of the Street Dogs/ Bouncing Souls tour in Orlando, I almost shit my pants...wait...I DID shit my pants. Great footage.

Sorry, but you are wrong. They say "the Stiff Little Fingers". Just listen, and if you have Do or Die, it will even say in the lyrics.

Sorry your wrong and I'm right. I know they say SLF on the record. I'm talking long before "Do Or Die". I don't write shit I don't know about.
