Of course they test these little engines. The companies that make drones for the military test these engines everyday. They use all kinds of test equipment to monitor all functions of the engines while the run and all the test benches use aux cooling to prevent over heating and engine failures do to improper cooling air reaching the engine due to no forward motion
The drones carry very expensive gear and must be able to fly for long periods of time without engine failures.
hey buddy I have a question...i have a 120 surpass 4 stroke engine im breaking in, When i try to flip start it the prop nut comes loose every time, what should i do?
Even though lots of air is moving very little get to the engine fins for cooling. If you are going to break in an engine on a torture stand you should run a shop vac hose behind the engine fins to cool the engine.
nice video, Its alot of people out there that brake in their engines in the plane, well, if they want to take the risk of dead stick, be my guest, but I think its just another stupid and expensive experiment. Brake in on the bench its the best to do. Saves money.. And nothing wrong with that, engine is perfectly safe and if you read the manual, its what you should do, set it ritch, full thr for 4 sec. lower, and doit againg til 2 or 3 tanks of fuel and then you will be happier!
in the manual for my OS 15LA it says the breaking in method is so easy it can be done in the model, all you need to do is run it through a few tanks worth then fly it with it getting 20 to 30 degrees leaner
how do you break in a 4-stroke by running it in rich?

That is because he is running it fat to break it in. Once he leans it out a little it will be fine.

@Hewey19 of course ^^ you're always breakin' in an engine @ full throttle and max. rpm, don't you?! OMG... nothing more to say.
