Did everyone forget about the Pixies? Perhaps the most influential band in the past 25yrs. No loves British rock bands more than I do but to say American bands can't compare is blasphemy! One of my favorite bands of all time is Joy Division who are British but who do you think we're some of Ian Curtis biggest inspirations? I happen to know he idolized Iggy Pop, Lou Reed, David Bowie and Jim Morrison. 3 of the 4 are American and the other thinks he's american. So don't give me that crap!!!
@TheWolfdude78 gotta agree with u there wolfdude. the Pixies are the one us band who were totally unique. Frank Black is a genius theres no doubt about that,
@TheWolfdude78 The Pixies only were influential in the movement they spawned, which was Grunge. And let me tell you: those bands were still behing what Britpop and Madchester had, bands classified under those two trends were more influential.
It's sad, but football is one of the reasons I've always struggled to take Oasis to my heart. I like them, but I can't escape the fact they're dirty blues. Roses are red... etc etc.
@GhibliFan1 What a sad reason to not like something. I'll never understand how people reach such levels of stupidity, as well as hooliganism, all because of football.
@SelasSolaris You did catch the bit where I said "I like them", no? And how you make the jump to hooliganism is beyond me, frankly, and therefore not worth a response. It's just a very simple human trait of showing a preference for people with the same likes or dislikes coming to the fore. I like Oasis, but apart from The Stone Roses being better musicians, I also like them a little more for having a shared passion. A bit different to saying "I DISLIKE them because they support Manchester City"
@TheVideoviewer91 I guess you don't have a clue about how important 'soccer' is here in England - it's like an actual religion, where we follow our team with pride and will fight for it with passion....and respect the losing party at the end after a full blown fight before or after the game. Thats just part of it now. And before you judge, its surely better to believe in a team thats real, than something thats no more than a fairytale like GOD....isn't it? Like the rest of you yank cunts
@skeensy not all yanks are cunts you fucking crooked teeth mother fucker. We like football here too and good tunes. There is a whole culture of americans here that listen to everything brit. Like oasis,pulp.roses. By the way i went to england 1 montth ago and man are youre women fucking ugly!!! not one hot broad! Also went to brighton and saw nothing but fags!!!! so there you go.
@casper61111 fuckin stay where you are then til we need you to win world war 3 ; ) haha. only jokin cuz. we love you yanks really. get tickets for Stone Roses if they tour America! i'm goin to see them in Manchester. gona be collosal. Pulp are shit btw ; ) haha. listen to Joy Division! amazing.
@danmancmufc Casper is not a twat he's absolutely right I myself am tired of Brits putting down'Yanks' over our tastes in music when in fact a great portion of Americans love British music more than our American music. You're also probably reluctant to admit that there are a whole legion of Brits who listen to a shitload of American tunes on a regular basis.
@wildj611 true mate. i listen to alot of American artists. I was only jokin about! What the hell are the Kings of Leon doin though! they're up their own arses at the moment! need to sort their heads out big time. fame and money got to them. there's not a band recently from the U.S that has struck me. I bet one will come out of nowhere soon and be collosal. Don't get me wrong, American music is the pedestal to great music. You created music, and we made it beautiful, as well as yourselves!
@danmancmufc American music is alright. But just dont forget who made all of englands artists huge!!!! The beatles and the stone wouldnt be shit without america!!! So there you go!!!!
@casper61111 i don't go for how big a band is. couldn't give a shit. as long as they make me go mental when i listen to them im buzzin! stone roses and joy division didn't go to america, and they are just as big over here. fuck america! haha
@danmancmufc you never been to america you fucking english fuck. if you came to l.a. california youll never wanna go back to that shit hole you live in.
@casper61111 haha fuck off you fat, tele watching, shit playing sports cunt. I don't want to come to your country because its full of 'dudes' like you, cunt. I was only jokin when I said fuck america. english humour meltdown. this is just all banter btw, nothin personal..... twat, balls, shit, wank, poo
@danmancmufc HAHA dudes?? I think you watch too much fucking tele. I know youre just fucking around. Only i wasnt joking about you living in a shit hole. I was in england 1 month ago and im glad i dont live there. The only good thing you paste faggots had were upper crust sandwiches at the train station. Other than that every thing else was shat!!!
@casper61111 Hey Casper, I spend a lot of time in the States. I live in Manchester England but when I'm over there, what do I hear on the radio day in day out. BRITISH ROCK BANDS. When I speak to the kids in bars I ask "why do you play British bands" and they say "Cos it's the best". Say no more. You might have the climate, but we've got the music.
@casper61111 Beatles and stones would still have been beatles and stone without america. america just gave them a bigger outlet for stardom and got more money to make more records. Englands got all the best bands. we've got the best solo's (sinatra nina simone, dino, fitzgerald, ect.).
@SuperMsSonic Don't forget the australians. Where would we be without AC/DC. Great Britan has had many rock and roll icon but not all of them by any means.
@andross637 The point I wanted to make is that not all of the great bands are English; most of them though. But SuperMsSonic is right about america; they love english rock and even in these dark days would still make any half decent english rock band filthy rich. Cant wait for the Stone Roses again.
@andross637 There are many bands out there that I can't stand either but you still got to acknowledge success. for me, the greatest examples of this is This Blur thing. I can't understand why people like Damon Alburn Others may think he's some sort of genuis. But that just me.
@Dbusdriver71 Yeah, I'm certainly one of those people. Damon Albarn is an absolute genius, an utterly luminous musical talent. Looks like we'll agree to disagree.
@danmancmufc Joy division is alright a little too fucking drepressing for me. Pulp are are great fucking band!!! All jarvis cocker sings about is pussy!!! What is there not love about that!!!!
How gives a shit about football (soccer)? In america there's two kinds of people... the ones who are into sports and are loud and stupid and drink only beer but never do drugs. And then the musicians who like both beer and drugs and create art and music... and who couldn't care less who one some sports event last year. Sports are fun to play every once in awhile... that's about it. Who gives a shit.
@TheVideoviewer91 I guess it's just different here... If you like sports a lot... you generally listen to shitty music, like Lynard Skynard and Kid Rock or possibly Dave Matthews Band. If you're listening to anything with artistic value or that's a bit more underground (stone roses were underground in the states) generally you're not a sports fan.... and by sports fan I mean, I'll watch a game here and there but I don't know who plays for which team. Anyway... guess things are different there
@freezazoid mate the combination of football and music here in england go hand in hand like gin and tonic go in a glass. footy fans use music in a pub to get hyped up for the game, during the game we are singing songs about are teams in tune of popular songs from over the years and after the match its go out and go to gigs. and then come next saturday, we cant wait to do it all again. or at least i cant anyway.
@saintric I used to have hair "just like that" ..."back in the day"...It was "luxuriant" I shaved it off about 6 months before 9-11...and it's been a shittier world ever since.
My missus talks about it with a definable air of "loss", when telling her younger friends about how "sexy" I USED TO be.
Don't listen to the scoffers & the envious Son, you hold onto your Roses-do as long as you can.
