  • Too fast, sorry. Confrey himself played it much slower, so the melody is felt much better :)

  • Bryan è un genio!!

  • Fantastic Job on this Bryan. I will be playing this in Peoria this year. Your version is an excellent opportunity to see "how it's done".

I commend you on your wonderful youtube stuff. You are an inspiration to any "raggy strider" out there!

     Best Wishes Joe Mankowski

  • reminds me of the old sonic games!:D

you know what, i might make a video of an old sonic game but dubbed with this song!

  • How many fingers do it take to play this? Awesome.

  • i meet him

  • I always liked this song. Kinda like Kitten on the Keys backwards. And Bryan basically plays it faithful to the sheet music.

  • Beteg ez az ember! :D

  • AWESOME SONG! I noticed it sounds a lot like Kitten on the Keys

    Like, a LOT..

That is some extreme piano skill btw, playing it so fast! Keep going :D

  • Technically, very good. Just as Glenn Gould would play all the notes perfectly in any piece by Bach, he lacked the expression that Baroque music requires. This piece has definite syncopations but they're lost due to the rapidity of the playing. Try not to sound like a piano roll out of control. Novelty piano music needs as much attention as the "rags" of Joplin. BTW, Scott Joplin didn't care much for that term, "rag", but only used it because that's what the style was back then.

  • everyone is an expert

    screw them, that was awesome

  • Is this song particularly hard to play?

If so, what aspects of it are difficult?

I would like to learn it and I can play Fizz Water, The Maple Leaf Rag, and Grace and beauty all fast (If i choose), pretty well, and with relative ease. I plan on posting some videos in the near future when I have access to a camcorder.

Based on what I can play now, do you think thatIi would run into any problems with this song?

  • Of the pieces I've posted to YouTube, I'd have to say this is one of the easiest. It's fast, but has a lot of repeated patterns that--with the right fingering--are not too difficult. If you can play Maple Leaf, you can play this.

  • He makes it look easy because he's talented and practices. Listen to him play other stuff, he's really good.

  • Awesomely awesome!!

  • heard you do this piece at Peoria 2 days ago.Y0u are fabulous.see you at Sedalia

  • he makes it look so fun. ahaha.

  • he makes it look so easy

  • Damn, I hate it when people say it's not hard!! Tell me what's so 'easy' about it then!! I have the sheet music and no way I'm able to play it...

  • I started learning this yeasterday. upladed a vid today "what i know of Nickel on the slot" watch it! :P

  • I just watched it.. That's not fair!! You have an excellent ear, I'm bound to sheet music which is also hard for me te read.. :-(

  • It's the fingering that's easy... if you follow the written fingering, these novelties practically play themselves. However, if you try to fake your own fingering, it might not work as well. These tunes were written by accomplished pianists who knew what did and didn't work well with regards to fingering.

  • I've got to learn this!

  • What's good with this rag is that it looks very hard to play but it really isen't

  • Great performance! Very even and fun :)

  • great job!
