It was not a victory for freedom. The court said that government can issue "reasonable" restrictions. Read the 2nd amendment, there is no phrase saying restrictions are ok. Anytime a restrictions is put on guns, our rights are being infringed upon.

Many raise the specter of Nuclear weapons not being imagined by the founding fathers and extend that automatic weapons shouldn't be protected under the second amendment. Interesting case--two years ago in Buffalo NY two kids with guns (ages 16 and 17) held a pizza delivery guy at gunpoint. The Pizza guy (around age 40) had a license to carry a concealed weapon. He actually shot and killed the 16 year old. The court let the pizza guy go free citing it was self-defense against a gun-carrying assailant.

My husband made an interesting comment in response to the article on CNN about this. Cities still have laws against discharging guns within city limits. So possession is protected but what about the right to discharge, especially in regards to protecting yourself and your property? That is still left to the local authorities.

The four judges that opposed the ruling are dishonest individuals and bring shame upon their position, themselves, and their country.
