@neversaydie93 It's just a preset called The Rhythm on my trusty Zoom 8080 Superplayer multiFX. You can pick them up on e-bay occasionally and the presets and features on the unit are great. Watch out for my Hysteria Muse tutorial coming soon. All the sounds I use on that are from the Zoom too. My amp is just set to clean and the guitar has a great strat-sounding neck pickup too which helps.

Think in terms of open chord shapes. Take the shape you play for an open A chord (002220) and move that up by 7 frets (779997) which is actually and E chord inversion (to give it it's proper name :-). Hope that helps?

OK, inversions are ways of playing the same chord in various places on the neck. You can play an E chord as an open chord (E0-A2-D2-G1-B0-E0) or an inversion rooted on the 7th fret of the A string (E7-A7-D9-G9-B9-E7). Hope this helps?

While i agree that it was complicated to get what you were doing to begin with, I commend you for using correct terminology and not dumbing it down.

It will surely make even noobs like me better players, all you gotta do is listen carefully to what he's saying, put it full screen and look at finger positioning.

For other newbies who want an easy explanation, rooting is like moving the nut down to that fret, A shape means literally that, the shape of an A with a different root (or nut) position

Chord inversion just means you're still playing the said chord, just using a different shape to create that sound. Play an open E chord and then the E inversion and you'll hear the relationship.

I use a Zoom 8080 Superplayer. Its an old Multi-Fx unit but I can't find anything else that sounds as good. I use it for all of my videos and gigs through a clean amp. You can pick these up on e-bay for next to nothing and the sounds, presets and functions are excellent!
