oh hey there...well i've been watching them for quite a while and i've adopted a more balanced point of view so to speak...i did mention something positive about them tho...
cool level-headed intelligent comment...from waht i see though it presents an equal platform for all sides..i mean look why would david frost, rageh omar, david maresh, and darren jordan join their ranks if it was at all extremist biased
you're right, good point...but they still show crazy muslim extremists shouting "death to america" and all that a little too much don't u think? they have some great journalists, no doubt about that, but it's also about what they choose to broadcast
True however you cant be a truely unbiased news station if you dont show all sides of the story... and thats what they stand for, truely objective reporting...
to a certain extent, but do u think crazy muslim extremists jumping up and down really represent that "side"? I mean do the ku klux klan's or pat robertson's vitriol represent the other "side"?
Well you dont really have to go that far i believe that people like Ann Coulter and Michelle Malkin to name a few fox news players are just as bad because their aproach is more... subtle I guess is the word that comes to mind...
even though they dont say death to the muslims directly it can be read on every line on their faces and in every argument they make they want muslim blood probably as much as fanatical muslims want american blood the only difference is that they cant jump up and down and scream death to the ragheads in a country like america.. they sure as hell whisper it but they cant scream it...
i agree completely sinan, that was my point...none represent either side well...in terms of ethnicity I'm half persian and half american...and i dont feel represented by either Al Jazeera (or IRIB for that matter) or Fox News.
facts on the topic? i live in europe and therefore get the channel via satellite...u live in the US so u don't, I, by definition, have more facts than you do, sir...and your videos are just full of hatred, you don't seem to want to understand other cultures at all...you admit fox is biased, yet everything you say sounds like what hannity would say...
yes i have heard that and i partially agree...i think the world's foundations need to come crashing down so we can build a new one, you know what i mean? we cant build a new solid "house" on bad foundations...the house needs to be demolished first so we can then build new solid foundations, you know what i mean? something has to happen so that people realise that our political system is deeply flawed
I agree...i live in switzerland and they envy absolutely nothing about the US...(but then again, it is, by many standards, the most developed country in the world)
Al Jazeera promotes violence more than the Western media that pushed so hard for the war? Muslim terrorists on September 11 killed three thousand and the coalition of the willing responded by killing hundreds of thousands in Afghanistan and Iraq (apparently none in Saudi Arabia, where the terrorists actually came from). There's been plenty of violence from all sides.
i see ur point...but do u really think that the british, french, germans, and italians envy the USA??? (i mention those countries because anti-americanism is very high in those areas)...about the propaganda comment, well fish need water to swim in...propaganda doesn't just come out of nowhere, there is a cause...and about blaming the successful, well yes i think in many aspects america's success has been to the detriment of others so their anger is justified
i think the problem with the world today is that it's viewed as a video game (not just by the USA)...good guys vs. bad guys...and that is just sooo childish that's why I dislike many of the things Ann Coulter and Billo say because the world is not counter strike, it's a tad more complicated than that...i dont think anyone should hate the US...it's a great country, (and my mom is american) it just so happens that absolute power corrupts absolutely
i agree with you, i dont think hating america is ever justified, just like its not justified to hate any country, but chris, u sound like a smart guy, ur not gonna sit there and tell me u believe american foreign policy is benevolent and 100% philanthropic now are you? they've propped up dictators in third world countries (yes, the same countries that now hate the US) and then when the tables turn they demonize those countries
granted, i am young and inexperienced...i guess ive gotta give u credit for not being the typical polarized kool-aid drinker...where do u stand on american foreign policy though? would you lean more towards Ann Coulter's ideology (if she has one) or say, Chomsky's?
it seemed like it was implied to me, because most of maher's guests don't put up with the administration's BS...well who DO u like...pat buchanan? ive never really encountered someone who doesnt like stewart AND o'reilly...
that's easy to do when your interviewees are carefully picked to be people you agree with. O'reilly and hannity WELCOME and INVITE debate with dissenting opinions, that occurs VERY rarely with maher.
well, if liberal means not willing to put up with the BS coming out of this administration, then, say Ron Paul qualifies as a liberal...and that would make me a liberal
Fox news represents me very well. and in response to other responses in this fast blooming thread. Hannity and O'reilly are consummate commentators and 10x as willing to allow dissenting opinions as ANY liberal puke, Maher included.
well they obviously do represent you very well, judging by your nickname...i dont disagree that they allow dissenting opinions, i just think they're radical ideologues
yes, you're right, they do allow dissenting opinions, but then they scream at the guest, call him/her names, cut of his/her mike and then smear them for a whole week after that...e.g. Rocky Anderson on the O'Reilly Factor on 03/20/07
"cacophony" lol first and last time you will use that word. Al Jazeera rocks!
