i have a dell venue pro, and i tried and tried and tried and nothing, or it says it cannot connect or is updated. i tried at least 150 times and nothing. DAMN IT!!!!
@windowsphonehacker thats why im trying this, because although mango is out for everybody, my dell venue pro doesnt upgrade further than the NODO update.
I see that when you are disabling click on the LAN, however, my LAN read "network cable unplugged" and my computer is only connected via wireless connection. Does that mean I should disable the wireless on mine instead?
Thanks a lot for this video! Really helped. Ive got an Omnia 7 on Orange, and this little trick worked perfect. Didnt take too long for the updates to install, and I didnt even need to do it twice; once the first update was complete it searched for the second one by itself. Awesome. Need to disconnect after exactly 3 secs. Just depends on the speed of your computer and how quick it disconnects. Thanks again.
I'm pretty sure they need to be pushing the update out to your phone for this to actually work. I have an Omnia 7 on T-Mobile UK and they're still testing it and I've tried well over 60 times and I just can't get it to work. I've tried this technique, pulling my ethernet, disconnecting straight away, waiting 2-3 seconds, disconnecting my phone then reconnecting it on the update page and disconnecting right on the connection sound.
99% you'll get it on your first try. You will have to have your volume on. First step, unplug your phone. 2nd, go to device in the settings or it might say phone. Go to update tab, notice that it will say plug a device in. Step 3, plug your device back in and as soon as you hear that windows sound that lets you know you have plugged in a device, disconnect from the internet immediately. step 4, get back on the internet and update your phone
i have a samsung focus with at&t unlocked for bell mobility canada, with 7390, if i do this trick update will anything go wrong with my phone later on??? coz i reallly want mango, but i dont want to mess up my phone:P
@krempaszanka Nope, this uses the Zune software to install it, so nothing bad will happen, it's just like Microsoft gave you the update early ;) Everything is still official
@kaw203 First step, unplug your phone. 2nd, go to device in the settings or it might say phone. Go to update tab, notice that it will say plug a device in. @dienkonig33 It's tricky, believe me. I got seriously lucky when recording this, which is unfortunate, because it makes it look easier than it is. Set up your screen like the way mine was, and give it about 3 seconds to check for updates before you disable it. If that doesn't work, try 5, or 2. Eventually, you should be able to get the update.
Awesome thanks for the detailed explaination. I got a good tip, if you have anything else in the network disable it before doing the one you get internet from. Ex. I had a hamachi, disabled that, then disabled local during update and it worked.
i hope a developer can send to microsoft a windows phone 7 hotspot or internet sharing. i dont wanna hack my phone im a developer unlocked from microsoft. so i hoping some1 can make an app im sick of going to my android then back to my wp7 lg optimus 7
@VTProductionsPC If you're developer unlocked, enabling hotspot sharing should be easy (though, it doesn't work on the LG Optimus 7). But the chances of a WiFi sharing app being accepted into the Marketplace may be on the low side.

It tells me either that It cant connect or that my phone is up to date (7392)..
By your explanation, I'm just not quick enough to interrupt the process at the correct moment...

@windowsphonehacker
I gave up on using the control panel method. just produces no results.
I managed to time it correctly by pulling the plug but it just hangs on the update screen... sometimes for 10-12 seconds other times indefinitely.

@dienkonig33 Make sure you plug it back in and it is fully synced/connected before you click Update
