It's ridiculous to compare Rush to The Police: The Police made it on both sides of the pond: The Police were a singles band:The Police had a huge no.! that has entered into pop culture folk law; they possess a guitarist who produced a new sound: a drummer who became a drummer's drummer; and a singer song writer who wrote great bass hook lines. Rush do not register in the uk although I am sure they are talented.
hahahha they used "don't stand...." in the Body mist advert over here in uk...when i was a kid! (love the police....and love Rush...no need to compare!)
One would think that The Police were just a fun rock band. But look at the stage: Both Sting and Summers have Minimoogs, synths and Taurus pedals, and Andy Summers is playing a Roland GR-300. They were as complex as Rush.
well i don't agree or disagree. you just can't compare the police to rush. i'm not talking in terms of "liking them" but musically they are pretty far apart.
@thejbl not true at all....Stewart's drumming is way more complex on the hi-hat than any hi-hat patterns Neal Peart plays. You obviously don't know a damn thing about music.
I love Andy's guitar riff, the bass sounds awesome, Stewart's drumming skills are impeccable, and Sting has such an awesome voice. Mmm I just loooove them! I probably sound like I'm on ecstasy, but who cares. The Police are the best fucking band in the whole wide world.
I've never seen this video before...AWESOME! Here, Sting really shows the edge and energy he had in his Police days, and you can actually hear Andy Summers and Stewart Copeland singing, which you can't in a lot of the concert videos I've seen. I'm not so sure I like the brass backup instruments, doesn't quite work with this song. But very cool video.

the two bands are incomparable. personally i like rush more, but you can't say one his better than the other. they are just too different
zectofrazer 8 months ago
@zectofrazer yes they are totally different, I enjoy them both , love the Police, but Rush is like 1000 times better. Lol...

Who gives a fuck about complexity when you're ten times more popular. (The Police that is.) And they had both things going for them.

I hate that fucking horn section throughout this concert!!!!

i like rush but when i think about it
the police had jams
rush had a little masterbation in their jams
the police had killer songs
rush had more killer 'math rock' than songs
the police wrote interesting lyrics but some cheese
rush also had some lyrics but more cheese than the police
is my comparison on or what?
