S & the B CANNOT be categorized into one pigeon hole. They may as well create happy sweet & sour songs like O Baby & dark rituals like Not Forgotten on a single album! I mean... as long as the songs are good, which no one can deny... The Rapture is a bloody good album, just like many many other banshees ones
I think The Rapture is an awesome album despite what "true" fans may say. It reminds me of The Cocteau Twins mixed with Bjork's quirky sense of humor. I also find the video to be very sarcastic and funny considering it makes the little girls in it look like, well, lolitas!
@squishyoprahtacohair I know right? Most common complaint I hear is that it was too cheery, that they sold out for pop hits. But so what? The Cure did cheerful songs all the time and it was cool, but Siouxsie does it and everyone freaks out.
@supermonsterdeluxe this does sound like the cure. Thing is if your in a band your not going to produce the same stuff over and over and over. Many of them get fed up and need to shift the style. Dunno about anyone else but i get board at work if im doing the same thing for too long. lol

Darkwave wasn't only macabre and sad songs. Siouxsie produced also similar pieces of art wich weren't less "dark" than her's other works.

i like this song too
i love the way siouxsie sounds happy (though i was put off at first cos it reminded me of full house for some reason)
but yeah. rapture was an amazing album
some songs like fall from grace and stargazer i just don't like
but they had the masterpiece "The Rapture"(Song) in it, and Falling Down and Not Forgotten showed that they were still the banshees

I find listening to this, then listening to "Love in a Void," then listening to this again to be quite funny.
