  • Why can't video games be as beautiful as this one was now? :(

  • I know Supra loves this game...but has it also the most titles on his list???

I'm too lazy to proof it myself^^

  • This amazing music belongs not only in Chrono Trigger, but it seems suited for the beautiful movie Nausicaa: Valley of the Wind.

  • Square, please, don't make another shitty FF, just do a remake to Trigger/Cross in FFXIII graphics. The world dould thank you.

  • @leojatoba23 I don't think the graphics would make the game better.

A game with great graphics is very good for the immersion of he player, but Chrono Trigger don't need that. The game make us travel around in a beautiful world...

  • @DeathNoteNear38 ; @NoFanSLand;

Sorry, that wasn't exactly what I meant... I thought that would be awesome with the technology and graphic/sound engines from the actual days... Blue Dragon has awesome graphics without losing the "Toriyama Style"... Cel Shading is a very good option for the anime based games...

@ajadashnz Yeah, the part of Square Enix that take care of the Squaresoft games....

  • @leojatoba23 It would be good, yeah. Because more people would get interested in this beautiful game. I think the actual graphics are not very "interesting" for actual gamers... ^^

  • @DeathNoteNear38 P.S. I agree with you, the game is still great in the way it was created.

  • @leojatoba23 Square Enix*. Not Square.

  • @leojatoba23 hum, not at all please! judging from Chrono trigger's art direction, it would need to be in Cel shaded to stay closest to its roots. Now I don't have anything against cel shaded but I'm sure it would feel awkard, unless devs can manage to create a game engine that uses japanese anime graphics with 100% fidelity.

  • Why can't I favourite this track twice?

  • lol i just got a flashback from more than a decade a go of kicking back on my bean bag chair playing chrono trigger while it rained outside.. awesome game still have it boxed up with my

    ol snes.

  • I guess i am the only one who loves these games along with CoD. Chrono Trigger!! <3

  • @TheOmnislashlv4 no u are not ^^ but i do enjoy chrono trigger most

  • @Falkon36 of course! =)

  • @TheOmnislashlv4 i know how you feel man

  • @galleamomega Thanks! If only you knew my Gamer Tag on Xbox live.lol

  • so why do people always only like one gaming genre

i play CoD all the great RPG,s and even minecraft

  • It's amazing how games have regressed in the last 17 years.

  • @tubenachos Your really right. But there is 2000-2011 great games too, they are not all bad :)

  • @tubenachos It's amazing how the new media is bringing out the opinions of the old-fashioned.

  • new gmaes have no colour too them, so sick of gray scale. cant wait for bioshock infinite. that is a gem of today, bioshock 1 is also stunning. chrono trigger is one of those games where you can feel the passion and care for every lil detail. psychonauts also comes to mind.

  • Startrd playing this game last month.

  • This should be rated higher.

  • @KingFresca This list isn't ranked.

  • @MrThomVD I realized that when I saw that the list goes all the way up into like... the 800s (if not further) still... AMAZING song.

  • @KingFresca True that

  • THE BEST RPG EVER. WORD!

  • 15 people got the ending with the credits and this song playing. :D

  • O Canada, I played ff 12 it was an eye candy game but no real result but the battle system was great, easier power leveling, chronoesque combo system with speed. I agree with in terms of the ff x2-2 should be amazing hope they can bring back some of that old school magic from the good old days. It does have super potential from what I've soon, so let's for the best fellow rpgers!!!

  • ...shit. got something in my eye.

  • @eviltomnook sorry, i'll aim for the mouth next time.

  • RIP SQUARESOFT.

  • @triggercrossbreak Sorry to burst your bubble, but XII-2 is going to be fantastic. Go play the demo.

  • @CanadiensUnplugged Oh my... how can you compare CT with FFXIII-2?! ;_;

  • Chrono trigger was a stepping stone. The development of the game was out of pure love. Real sense of making something that meant a lot. Chrono Cross is simply Smart, development team just wanted to show other companies how to use the Playstation true power at the time. Squaresoft will always rule, they were pressured into make final fantasy for a white base Hollywood goers. Should've of released advent children at a lower budget and fanbase that would have supported.

  • @triggercrossbreak all though it is an icredible game it was actually meant as a parody

    to rpg,s XD

  • @galleamomega I'm pretty sure you're thinking of Secret of Evermore being a parody of rpg's..

  • @Iconoclast6750 wel i looked it up and secret of evermore seems to be a parody on american-b movies

  • Sorry I played both, CT is better than CC IMO. The music of CT is more genuine, they just reused it again on CC. And there's a special feeling when I played CT when I was younger that made me hooked up on playing RPGs, it's just indescribable. I played CC, it was just good and better than most RPGs, but not better than CT.

  • Comment removed

  • probably the first rpg i ever fully beat on SNES, loved it, still my all time favorite, #1

  • I still remember everything about this game, it'll stay with me forever :D

  • This game is every bit as relevant today as it was back in 1995.

  • I NEED THIS DAMN GAME ALREADY D:

  • i really love this song!!! yeah!

  • I'm playing Chrono Trigger for the first time at the moment.

  • @OniLink24 Me too. It's an amazing game.

  • @MrThomVD yes it's one of the greatest games I've ever played. I love it xD

  • @OniLink24 Definitely. I'm at the very last level now. I did all side quests :)

  • I got introduced to this at 13 in 2003 in the height of the Gamecube Era, yet I consider this one of my fav games I've ever played. amazing how such long games used to exist back then. now people can't even sit down for 6 hours without gettign bored.

  • First time arriving to the kingdom of Zeal, seeing the islands floating in the sky and this music playing. That was a damn magical moment. This song always brings that image into my mind.

  • /v/ checking in

  • /v/ ?

  • Wow, I haven't played the game but when i hear this i get a sense of feeling not to lose all hope, like i've found myself fighting and fighting and then all of a sudden, i get reset back to nothing wasting all my effort and strength. I still continue on with my quest which will only take longer now but will make it all worthwhile when i am finally triumphant.

    Really great VGM here

  • Since I was a kid playing this game I've always thought this theme would make a good Kelis song.

  • They should make a chrono trigger version for xbox 360 or ps3

  • It's amazing how games have regressed in the last 16 years.

  • 15 people couldn't beat the game

  • I played this game for the first time in 2011, and I thought it was great. Wish I had picked it up with DKC2 when I was younger.

  • This song drives me crazier than a blunt

  • ctrigger was my first ever game and I will never forget that. this song brings back so many memories and i'm so glad... i cant even put it into words how much i appreciate it

  • some parts sound like pokemon mystery dungeon

  • What is it with everyone and there damn age?!

There is a difference between those who actually grew up with what we now consider to be classic games and those who go back to revisit and play them.

Heck one day skyward sword will be considered a classic but for now its a mainstream game.

To all those little kids trying impress idk who just get over yourself..... seriously.

One day youll see what its like to look back on the games you once played as a child but until then quit making scenes...

  • @paska172 wow you are realy angry man just relax and get laid

  • this music is a real masterpiece

  • Its 2 am, and I'm listening to this music and playing Skyrim at the same time.

    One word. DRUUUUUGS

  • This and Undersea Palace are the best tracks in the game. I can't believe this awesome music came from the SNES.

  • I said before and I'll say again, this is Don Quixote of RPGs.

  • Nostalgia drove me here.

  • My DS brought me here.

  • Confound these ponies, they drive me to find amazing music.

  • @ANEWPATHWAY Yep, Cross was better imo too. Best soundtrack ever.

  • @ANEWPATHWAY Still don't make you unique.

  • @ANEWPATHWAY Just wondering, what do you find better about Cross? I think it was a great game, just curious as to what your view is on the pair. I could definitely see it being the case if, say, you played Cross first and then went to Trigger. Either way, thanks for not being another CoD brat. We have a surplus of those, and I'm pretty sure they're ruining gaming as we know it.

  • @ANEWPATHWAY haha im 15 and i thought i was the only one that perfered cross

  • @ANEWPATHWAY You and me my friend? We aren't that different. Many new age games are simply cookie cutter games, no true creativity is put into them

  • @ANEWPATHWAY

That means you have sense, young one.

  • @ANEWPATHWAY Come on, there are still amazing gems among games today - obviously there are mainstream cash ins without any soul or heart put into them like Call of Duty right now (but when it was new... boy was it amazing).

  • @ANEWPATHWAY Don't forget to listen to the zohar002 and lonlonjp covers of this track, they will blow your mind. The best RPG ever created is Chrono Trigger, but I agree that Chrono Cross is underrated, everyone should clock it at least once.

  • I played chrono trigger for the first time in 2011. Yes, it was a mistake to wait until now. Overall, it's the best RPG I've ever played, and this is FAR from being due to nostalgia.

  • its sad when you realize how great certain things can be like music or games and then you look at how horribly all the potential is constantly being pissed away by people who dont even understand it and claim to be experts

  • I don't know if I have said this, but somehow I really like how this song has that ASEAN/South-East Asian flair to it.

  • R.I.P Squaresoft.

  • Jesus Christ this song gave me goosebumps 13 years ago, and still does today. This and Yearnings of the Wind, hands down the best CT tracks.

  • I've actually never played more than a few hours of Chrono Trigger, and after listening to some of it's songs, I realised THAT HAS TO CHANGE!

brb, going to gamestop and getting the DS version :3

  • Dark souls Reminds me of the good ole days of Gaming in the 90's. =)

  • O_O_O_O_O_O_O_O_O_O

  • I remember the days back then. The games they make these days just hasn't got the same charm to them. I am not saying they are bad, mind you, but I feel like they are missing something... Oh well. At least I still have my old consoles, and they still work. Even my 20 years old NES console. Ah, good times. :)

  • Tbh, I'm tired of people who say this generation's games are terrible and based on graphics. Look at Starcraft, it's entirely based on strategy. Graphics also actually do improve gameplay with shadows or sound showing where people are and allow for a more dynamic gameplay. Yeah, I grew up in the N64 years (with SSBros being my favorite of the time), but you gotta learn to appreciate what people are trying at nowadays.

TL;DR: Old games are still there, give a chance for new games and move on.

  • @coloredwaffles You know i never understood why so many people liked that game starcraft it looks boring as shit..theres a few good rpgs out there but now they're making them look like that world of warcraft gameplay shit.snes had some awesome rpgs.it's more action in game now which is ok i guess.

  • @widdowson91 yea man i grew up during the super nintendo ages xD, all the graphics honestly are taking the focus away from actually enjoying playing the games... they are just focused on making games "pretty"

  • Yes, I'm 13. Yes, I grew up in a time where graphics were the basis of making a game. Yes, Chrono Trigger is one of my favorite games ever, and I hate all those mainstream games. We don't all play Call Of Duty.

Get over yourself, and accept that some of today's youth still hold onto these treasures.

  • @sonikku70 Respect.

I'm with you man, age and all.

Call of Duty is just the same rehashed crap every year.

I would rather play Adventure for the Atari 2600. (Which is AWESOME btw)

Along with that, I have to say that it seems some consoles are taking the right direction with some games.

Nintendo is going back to it's roots, the PSP, which is dying off, still has some great retro style games on it, like FFIV, and ClaDun x2!

Lets just hope that the Xbox live arcade doesn't change much.

    That's good.

  • @sonikku70 Age has nothing to do with the kind of video games you enjoy, get over yourself. You aren't special just because you don't play call of duty and hate all the mainstream games. Not to mention there are quite a few great "mainstream" games out there.

  • @romanul70 I'm guessing you play CoD all day then. Either that, or you're in your 20's. Don't even bother replying, because I'm not gonna pay attention. ;)

  • Huh, this is very reminiscent of Joe Hisaishi's work on Miyazaki's Nausicaä & Laputa.

  • It's a shame that they didn't make a Chrono Trigger sequel, because this is the most epic game ever!

  • @xROCKDOLL Uh... I thought Chrono Cross was supposed to be the sequel. Unless you're talking about a sequel with Crono and his friends.

  • @jomon324 Well.. I don't consider Chrono Cross as a sequel ;p. So yes, I am talking about Crono and his friends.

  • @demerda

i completely agree with you...for god sakes...let this game be in peace....

i will force my kid to play this game (when i have one)

  • Pinkie Pie brought me here.

  • I am the wind. Woosh!

  • I have a grudge against Squenix stop shitting out shitty FFs make a Chrono trigger NO,NOT A PORT but a sequel to it i dont count CC because it should have its own series but still STOP MAKING FFs DAMMIT

  • This music makes babies smile and adults cry

  • just repeated this 21 times, hahahah awesome song

  • I wish Square would make another Chrono instead of another Final Fantasy. There are enough FF games as it is...

  • @JustAnotherAnimeFan seriously. i'm tired of FF give us a real kick ass chrono trigger sequel involving crono and the gang.

  • @riosbeatz1

Dont fuckin do it. Sequels always suck (save from donkey kong 1 to 2).

  • @kinsmon123 Back then, making games was harder. That is why developers tried their best. Now, you can make a full game using the Source SDK in 2 days just by adding textures and a bit of code. Back then, there were no patches, everything had to work on the first release. Back then...

  • @MINICLIPGAMER Not Sure where you got these "facts", i don't claim to know everything...., but what games are being pumped out in 2 days lol?

It's my understanding that most game development takes at least 6 months.... hell some games are taking even 3-4 years in development

  • @xSayPleasex Games that can actually be released for profit take a while to be made, but games made just for fun are made much faster, but can be just as good as the games made for profit. Games don't really take 4 years for development, it is usually the developers who take their time. I remember one of my friends working for Rockstar after he finished college, and one day he called me and said that most of the time there is barley 3 hours of work a day broken up over 9 hours.

  • My top 3 video game list are all oldies, cause games with only violence and graphics are terrible compared to the revolutionary games they made in the old days. My top three:

Zelda Ocarina of Time (Cried silently at the End, I never wanted it to end)

Chrono Trigger (Epic game one of the best)

Super Mario 64 or Paper Mario (Great Games)

  • All life begins with Nu and ends with Nu.

  • @Saugdiesel All life begins with Nintendo Ultra and ends with Nintendo Ultra?

  • For some reason this sounds like something out of Pokemon Mystery Dungeon

  • A pink haired pony and blue hair girl brought me here.

  • @HonestAnonymous Pinkie Pie's Corridor of Cupcakes and Konata's Healing Springs.

  • @HonestAnonymous *brohoof*

  • @HonestAnonymous brohoof my fellow brony

  • @Widdowson I agree completely. The first time I played it was the DS re-make.

Easily my favourite RPG of all time and I love the JRPG genre. Just below OoT, MM and WW for me but ahead of FFVI :O

  • Zeal... what a waste. To lose the gift of magic forever from simple hubris...

  • This song makes me so calm ...

  • in my opinion i had the best childhood ever 90's was Sooo epic the game that we had was just awesome earthbound, chrono trigger, all FF on Snes etc.. the t.v show was so good too

  • @kinsmon123 Except for Crono. He never had much of a personality.

  • @kinsmon123 I wish games these days would have a good old fucking. :(

  • @kinsmon123 Chrono Trigger is an amazing game. Saying that games a whole were better then then they are now is rather asinine though.

  • @kinsmon123 Amen.

  • @kinsmon123 Except that Chrono Trigger also looks awesome and has great graphics too. ;)

  • @NamiTheNekoVamp

GET THE GAME!!! My brother gave, he said it would change your view on games AND IT DOES.Get it, its great.Just get the game.Shut up and get it

  • i was so drunk last night, i DID pull out my snes and play it a lil.

  • This makes me want to pull out my SNES and play Chrono Trigger

  • Amazing game, amazing music.

  • Damn it, I want a sequel with the same characters :(. CHRONO TRIGGER FTW!

Btw, this is my favourite song. I dunno if I already posted a comment here, but idc xD.

  • @OogletheOwl Sadly no, but Someone made a video with Pinkie Pie singing this song :D

  • I'm 20 and I live in Europe. Chrono Trigger was never released here back in 1995, and even if it had seen a release I probably wouldn't have played it as a 4 year old. I did get a chance to play it last year (the PlayStation version), and man, didn't I love it. Iv'e always been a huge RPG fan, but Chrono Trigger was just something special...

  • ... A lot of people think that love towards retro games comes from nostalgia, but I had no nostalgia of Chrono Trigger and still found it to be arguably the best game I've ever played. You just don't get video games like this in the modern age. I've had to endure growing up through a phase where everyone is obsessed with graphics, but Chrono Trigger is from a time where gameplay was key, and it represents this perfectly.

  • @widdowson91 what you just said is exactly how i feel i wish gamescould go back to amazing storylines like chrono trigger nowthere all about guns and blood/gore

  • @widdowson91 the 2d graphics were no joke either, great artwork.

  • @widdowson91 I didn't grow up during the NES era, I grew up during the SNES/Genesis/TurboGrafx-16, N64/Saturn/PS1, NGC/DC/Xbox/PS2, Wii/X360/PS3 eras. With this song, it really reminds me of how great the SNES was.

  • @widdowson91 It's easy to forget, because the graphics of the day aren't impressive anymore, that developers DID invest a lot of time and effort into making cutting-edge graphics, even back then. It has always been one of the developer's top priorities, otherwise all games would look like something made for the Atari 2600. It's true that games don't seem to play as well as they used to, but it's for lack of talent, not for lack of trying. Developers priorities haven't changed a bit.

  • @widdowson91

I agree. Ever since I played Chrono Trigger a few years back, I was immediately just overwhelmed at how good it was. The gameplay was different of other RPGs, refreshing and fun. The music was a huge part for me. Absolutely amazing.

  • @widdowson91 EXACTLY

i'm only 15, so i was either not bron yet or far too young to have played most of these old games. the earliest system i ever played on was the N64, which is part of the reason why i've been able to escape the obsession with graphics most of my peers seem to have. i love old games, and have a massive amount of respect for them. i've never been able to understand why people blindly (no pun intended) choose graphics over gameplay.

  • @widdowson91 I didn't play Chrono Trigger until maybe 2003, at age 17 or so, and I'm in the same boat as you. It's a super game -- one of the very best ever made. And I say that without a shred of nostalgia.

  • @icydesign Same here, played around 2007.

  • @icydesign I should do the same. As someone who didn't grow up with an SNES (Grew up in the N64 era), I've heard Chrono Trigger hailed as the "Greatest game of all time" for pretty much my whole life.

I should see if I can find an original copy on SNES, or that remade version for the DS.

  • @DoragonShinzui Just emulate it, dude.

  • @Brelm Not a huge fan of emulators, myself.

Doesn't help that no one makes emulators for Win2k (Sweet jesus this machine is old...)

  • @DoragonShinzui get an android phone get snes9x from android market and look online for roms. boom chrono trigger wherever you go!

  • @DoragonShinzui I even emulate games I own. Of course, I hook up a SNES controller to my home theater PC, so I'm getting a proper SNES experience.

  • @icydesign I've got none of the three, so so much for that plan. Derp.

Ah well, there's always the remastered version for the DS, that looked like tons of fun.

  • @icydesign Same here. I played it around 2008, when I was 14. The game is great, great story, amazing music, combat that is still fun today. my favorite game of all time. This game is a masterpiece.

  • @icydesign I first played Chrono Trigger sometime in the 90's pretty soon after it came out. I thought it was alright, but I had only rented it, and didn't go on to buy it. I picked it up again several years later and discovered that it was a lot better than I originally thought. On the other hand I just picked up Chrono Cross a couple weeks ago.I have no idea why it took me so long to play the sequel to a game I loved so much.

Anyway, Yasunori Mitsuda is my favourite video game composer.

  • @icydesign Chrono Trigger is nothing short of a beautiful and inspired work of art. A work of ART, to all narrow-minded fools who don't believe video games can be art.

  • @icydesign I know what you mean, I've played it in 2010 and it became one of my favorite games of all time!

  • @icydesign Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy VI, Terranigma, Live A Live...*gushes*

  • I will never be young again, but at least this song makes me feels like it.

  • it makes me feel like a child againand i love it

  • @poolpure272 yeah, but a lot of people like that character and SE put a lot of effort into getting the copyrights off of Nintendo. I really like Geno, so I think he really should get a game.

  • rofl what's wrong with goku's hair lol xD

  • What's the synth used at 0:55? I hear it used so much in video game music.

  • @stopeatingthepizza it's just a waveform, probably combo of sawtooth and sine. the waveform generator was new feature for Nintendo when they came out with the SNES.

  • @VVega0021 I think it needs a sequel better then that piece of crap Chrono Cross. Actually, I don't need a sequel, a good remake would be nice. Not the DS version, but an honest-to-god remake. I'm sure many other CT fans will agree with me.

  • @hamstersonsteroids Chrono Cross is not crap. (at least in my opinion). I just think a lot of diehard Trigger fans were disappointed that Cross was not a direct sequel.

  • @MoogleVoodoo No, Chrono Cross WAS crap. The idea was good, the whole parallel dimensions thing.... However the execution of the game was terrible.

I hated the levelling up system... The action 'bar' idea was stupid.... The characters were just so
