we don't know how much time has past since they last met, the last time they saw eachother they only met briefly, once in the diner and once when he sold him the impala. Just think about it, if you haven't seen someone for about 4 years after meeting them briefly would you really remember.

This is gonna wicked. Must say though I'm interested (have been since I saw "In the Beggining") how Mary managed to explain the death of her father since John woke up right beside him (Samuel) who was dead on the ground from a massive gut wound. How'd she pass it off as a heart attack?
