I'm an atheist. Scientology beliefs are a mix of other philosophies, common sense and fantastic mythology. Scientology is the same as all religions.

If she believes it works for her it does so for the same reasons other religions work for other people, it's called the placebo effect.

The church of scientology is however a corrupt, corrupting and damaging organisation. I'm glad she's no longer supporting it.

They didn't withhold the "crucifixion story" from me until I reached a certain level. And yeah -- there are a whole host of other differences, big time obvious ones. I see what you are saying, but I have never felt "fearful" within the confines of my religion. Also, if I wanted to leave Catholicism, my church would not force my family to disconnect from me.

@MrDunedon I agree to some points. They don't require money, but people are pressured into giving. Like at Church when the plate goes around for donations, you are frowned upon if you don't give. Not too long ago, if a Protestant married a Catholic they were banished from their home, many places in the world still act by that. One time, A Catholic couldn't talk to Protestant and vice versa and again many parts of the world are still like that.

They are still conducting the same old games. One more point: I don't take everything my faith teaches at face value. I question. I doubt. And my pastor is willing to listen and respond. Try doing that in Scientology and see what happens.
