@sonicXmanic many say to learn each hand separately and then play them at the same time. I recommend learning simple songs with easy top and bottom parts and slowly work your way up to more complicated songs (i.e. ode to joy)

@letsdanss No I am serious, I DEFINE these black key names. Just as mathematicians can define imaginary numbers (square root of -1), it can be useful to give all 12 chromatic notes an individual letter name. Listen to the sounds, you cannot tell white keys (naturals) from black keys (accidental)! Some music theorists call the notes by the numbers 1 to 12. - OR 0 (zero) to 11. I call them A to L. Young kids can understand that the black keys are not some mysterious objects without names.

err this kinda sucks cause not all chords have only 3 notes :/ and most people teach classical music first cause it becomes the base of most piano playing and helps tones with theory like Jazz does for improvings :P
@paavaliukkonene i disagree, this guy tries to put music theory into a nutshell. Make it simple, which it really is! He states "Every note has a letter assigned to it." Well then he tells the white keys ABCDEFG, but has to change his mind and not keep going for the black keys, because of the traditional terminology. But he is on the right track. If every note had a letter assigned, you would have 12 letters A to L. Simple! Call the black keys HIJK and L. They are no longer confusing. Spread it!
@ExpressStaveNotation yeah but then if we rename the black keys we need a much larger and more confusing staff on sheet music to fit in the extra notes where they would previously just be marked with a sharp/flat sign etc!
If you study my Express Stave Notation as in the video:
- How to read the Bass Clef: tutorial plus "Name the Tune" -
you will see that it is the same size as the traditional stave, and just uses different notes to represent the black keys. It is not "confusing" but quite simple and elegant. The problem with traditional notation is how long it takes to learn ALL 15 key signatures (0 to 7 sharps or flats).
wow..out of all the piano hints i have been looking up, yours was far the best i have seen :) thank you so much XD you explained things very well for a beginner like me to really understand ^^ thank you so much for the helpful lesson :)
@CloudXSoldier yea, but can you read music? like sharps and slurs and ties and rests and semi-breves and all that stuff? real useful vids witch help read music will tell u f and b sharps apart. So i'd take a piano lesson rather than get it online.
this is great man, thank you so much! May you be blessed with more talent to the point of even opening your own school of Piano where you can start teaching by the actual piano then on and on!!! Be blessed!
@nakedvolleyball How's that lottery prize money taste? Apparently not good enough since you're still wasting your time insulting people you don't know on the internet for no reason.
well if you wanna play like a beginner rest of your life, just learning chords is the way to do it.
Pop and Rock music is really this simple but if i have a say, the world of music is something you have to explore and you significantly limit the world you can explore with just basic chords. this vid actually just explains that and if you want the get better, learn what he says and learn more.
have fun learning the great instrument that i have enjoyed to play for many years.
Yeah most beginners who saw this wouldn't even be able to find middle C afterwards, never mind playing chords or having any rhythm whatsoever. Also yeah... 88 keys :)

After the white keys ABCDEFG, come the black keys which are called H I J K and L.

Young kids can understand that the black keys are not some mysterious objects without names.

err this kinda sucks cause not all chords have only 3 notes :/ and most people teach classical music first cause it becomes the base of most piano playing and helps tones with theory like Jazz does for improvings :P
paavaliukkonene 1 year ago
@paavaliukkonene i disagree, this guy tries to put music theory into a nutshell. Make it simple, which it really is! He states "Every note has a letter assigned to it." Well then he tells the white keys ABCDEFG, but has to change his mind and not keep going for the black keys, because of the traditional terminology. But he is on the right track. If every note had a letter assigned, you would have 12 letters A to L. Simple! Call the black keys HIJK and L. They are no longer confusing. Spread it!
ExpressStaveNotation 1 year ago
@ExpressStaveNotation yeah but then if we rename the black keys we need a much larger and more confusing staff on sheet music to fit in the extra notes where they would previously just be marked with a sharp/flat sign etc!

@lookinglikeafool

@CloudXSoldier yea, but can you read music? like sharps and slurs and ties and rests and semi-breves and all that stuff? real useful vids witch help read music will tell u f and b sharps apart. So i'd take a piano lesson rather than get it online.

well if you wanna play like a beginner rest of your life, just learning chords is the way to do it.
