The only guys I see at 147 who would stand a chance are Cotto, Mosley and Margarito (although he already came up short). Williams' freakish size and work rate more than make up for any flaws he may have. Of curse if you took away his height and reach he would be pretty average (the same could have been said about Lennox)but you have to consider the whole package when assessing a fighter's worth.

Have you seen the Cotto fight.
He fought very well.
I know paulie well he was cut early in the "accidental" headbutt.
Paulie was never in this situation before.
Yea he's not a power hitter.
He's a slickster with the stance with a left hand dropped for body shots.
He fights by avoiding hits.

He didn't fight well against Hatton cuz like any good opponent, Hatton realized Paulie couldn't hurt him so he walked through his shots. Even slick fighters need to have enough power in their punches to keep opponents off of them, which paulie doesn't. And n'dou isn't special, not to mention he's naturally a lightweight and undersized for jr welter. paulies an ok fighter but his lack of power and average defense will keep him from being anywhere near the top of the division.

but for some reason paulie coudnt use his speed to his advantage, he shood have saw the blueprints of what floyd did to ricky. but even still that might not have worked becuz even tho floyds punches wont put you to sleep he hits hard enough that makes opponents respect his power, and too many of them can put u down paulie really has to think of putting weight lifting in his training camps, or sitting down on his punches more cuz even tho speed kills; ur opponents atleast hafta respect ur power

britains...So Hatton can only compete at 147...what does that tell you about him. How many elite fighters spend their carreer at 1 weightclass. It's silly to suggest that Hatton is top 5 pfp'er at 140 but isn't good enough to beat a mediocre Welterweight (Collazo) convincingly. Floyd Mayweather moved up 4 weight classes to compete at 147 yet Hatton fans cry that it was unfair that Ricky had to gain 7 lbs.

kodd...Urango was another paper champion...picking up a vacant title from Rabah. This is not an impressive resume. Hatton biggest wins came at the expense of 2 washed boxers (Castillo,Tszyu). I appreciate your honesty about Hatton's chances against Mayweather but the "Hatton couldn't fight his fight" argument is really tired. As for Hatton's future..I actually think Malignaggi's going to pull off the upsett. I'll say Malignaggi survives a couple of close calls to go on and win a split decision

Kodd...don't get me wrong..Hatton seems like a sound guy and I have a lot of respect for what he has accomplished. The disagreement is whether these accomplishments warrant placing hatton in the top 10 P4P. There are a lot of great boxers out there. kodd...I rank Paul Williams pretty high. Nobody at 140 would stand a chance against him. The only guys I see at 147 who would stand a chance are Cotto, Mosley and Margarito (although he already came up short). Williams' freakish size and work rate more than make up for any flaws he may have. Of curse if you took away his height and reach he would be pretty average (the same could have been said about Lennox)but you have to consider the whole package when assessing a fighter's worth.
