  • I am wondering,...how can 5 people not like this? thankfully at least they are in the minority!

  • Thanks for your wonderful comments.

    John (Bass) The Scorpions

  • Today feels like my Birthday. I had no idea there was another band called the Scorpions. From I hear so far, I'm sad I didn't know before now, great music, thanks :)

  • @MJ0428 Thanksssssss!

  • Excellent tune really got my groove going !!!

  • Thanks @bcnu62

  • Has a sweet surf tone to it.

  • Thanks for that Surfguitarist.

    Cheers

    John

  • @BlokeFromBattersea No problem. Amazing tune!

  • wow, this is great!

  • Wow - thanks!

  • these are defenitely NOT THE SCORPIONS!!!

  • Oh dear, we've been tumbled. Seriously, we are The Scorpions. We were formed in 1959 we recorded in Abbey Road Studios in 1961 on the Parlophone label. The pretenders you are probably refering to are the German Scorpions. They were formed in 1965. Take a look on Wikipedia.

    Thanks for your comments.

  • Shadows lookalikes ;)

  • Great version, fair gallops along with some nifty finger work. Got a terrific sound for just lead, bass, and percussion. And that's a great collection of photos in the video.

  • This is the first time I've come across this tune from this group. I'm from this generation. I very much have enjoyed your great music. Thanks John, the Bass Player!

  • @z31344

I'm pleased that you enjoyed our record. Thanks for your comments.

    John (the bass player).

  • Not to be confused with the German Scorpions (which I did) but thank you very much for this earlier rendition. Nice!

  • wow that is awesome. thanks for such great music.

  • @diablo45661

Thanks for such a great comment.

  • @BlokeFromBattersea - Is this the German Rock Group? Schenker et al.?

  • @TwoTrails1

Nein Nein. Dies ist eine englische band

  • AWESOME!

  • We think you're great too Mike!

  • Surf Zombie Music

  • Is that good or bad?

  • @BlokeFromBattersea So good

  • What a vibe!!!!

  • Ta!

  • good work on the upload, rare to see an actual member of a band uploading their music, especially from so long ago!

  • @Ignepotens

Hi thanks for your comments. I can't take credit for the upload. I thought it was good so I downloaded it. For some reason, presumably copyright infringement, it was removed by Youtube. So I uploaded it.

    Cheers

    John

  • Outstanding tone. This has to be my favorite version of this song. Cheers from Mississippi !

  • @mcgoodle

  • @woggerone Hi, thanks for your message. I didn't create this video. I downloaded it a while back. The original was removed by YouTube for copyright reasons, so I uploaded it. I played on this recording in 1961.

    Cheers

    John

  • I KNOW BAND ...THE SCORPIONS .....FROM SWEDEN

  • Sorry - The Scorpions from Battersea, London, UK.

  • You guys are amazing! Cheers!!!!

  • i would like to learn this on bass. the sound is very good on my ears ^_^

  • This by far is "THE" best version, that I have heard, since first acquiring a copy on Parlophone record label, in the late seventies. It is still in my collection, any other version does not come close to it, great.

  • WWWOOOOWWWyyyy!!! thank you!!!!! you chaps must still have some rocking gear.

  • The poster mentioned something about copyright violations. What very few people realize is that the copyright holders are NOT the one's complaining. Yahoo scans every upload, tracks down the copyright holder, and tries to sell them commercial LINKS to the video that was posted! If they do not pay, they offer the copyright holder the option of filing a "strike" against the uploader, just removing the video, or doing nothing. If they do nothing then it is like GIVING Youtube the rights to it.

  • What an awesome version! Never heard this before, that is a great guitar sound.

  • would love to know what the names of their amps were, great sound, they looked like outlaws sitting on the back of that old car, i just love all this ol stuff

  • Hi 88ripitup

The amps we used on this record was a Watkins Westminster 10W 12" speaker and a Selmer Truvoice 10W also with a 12" speaker.

Like the "Outlaws" dub. Actually Billy Kuy of The Outlaws, joined us for a year in 1962.

    Thanks for your comments

    John (Bass)

  • @BlokeFromBattersea Were you managed/ produced by Joe Meek ? Great sound.

  • @alanvking

We did record with Joe Meek, but this was recorded at Abbey Road.

  • I like this version a lot.

  • This is a great version, i wanna learn it as i'm going to put together a pub band to play this style of music here in Italy. John, I never saw a bass like that, what was it? Thanks, it's great to talk to someone who played this stuff when the world was a better place!

  • @SIGUESIGUESTAR

Thanks for your great comments. The bass was home-made by my cousin. Have you seen our live version on youtube which was recorded in 2010?

  • How did I never hear this version?!?!?! I am going to fill an ipod with versions of this song that I like, and this will definitely be on it. Nice twist on one of the best songs ever.

  • This is killer!

  • LOVE it! xxoo

  • WOW, wasn't this an Abbey Road recording by Joe Meek?

  • this isnt the german band scorpions?

  • @ericou812 No, but I wish it was :)

  • Nein nein.

  • @ericou812 No, this is a British Band that bore the Same name as the German Band The Scorpions

  • Hi Rob

What can I say? Thanks for your great comments.

    John - The Scorpions

  • @BlokeFromBattersea

So this is from the same Scorpions who later had

great succes in the Netherlands on the CNR label???

I can't think of another Scorpions btw.....

  • Glad you liked it. Thanks for you great comments...

  • Not the same Scorpions. Look on Wikipedia under Scorpions London Band. There is actually another 2 or three Scorpions.

  • Dang John! Sounds like we need more straight-ahead rockers from Battersea in the world! I'm a huge fan of psy-garage/Mersey. I'm also a country boy from the big west of North America. On either channel, you guys rock.

  • Is there anybody who didn't record this song? Great version that I don't recall ever hearing. Thanks.

  • Thanks

  • @BlokeFromBattersea So were you guys what they call "Beat Nicks"? I like the look and the sound. Why did the heavy metal band from Germany steal your name?

  • crackin version

  • Thanks

  • d+++++++++++++D ?????
